great video. that maj9 has been my new favorite chord shape lately so its really nice and helpful to see it being used in the context of a 2-5-1.

Great bideo as always. I really enjoy these little snacks of information. Since i watch your videos, i think i've really become a better musician in a way. I start understanding chords more and more. I already know (by ear sound and position) my chords with the different inversions thanks to your video about the Fmajor7 / Min7 / Dom and Dim shapes! But im still struggeling with the memorizing of where in which inversion the root, 3 and 5 are... Would make it even easier to know where my 9, 13 or 11 are in a chord.

Great ideas and nice presentation. It starts with the fact that you play really slow. Too many guys don´t realize that their slow is fast :-)

Hi Rotem! Love your channel and subscribed to you on Patreon. I was wondering what settings you use for your earthquaker avalanche? I bought one after you said you used one. You got such a luscious sound on your chords! Is there anyway you could share that information or do a quick video about it? Many thanks. I am new to pedals!

Great video Thank You! Subscribed :) . . (is the tab off on the G7 13-? should the 4 on the D string be noted as a 3 instead? For a flat 7)

Shouldn't the g13 have the middle finger on the d string of the 3rd fret? The diagram shows it on the 4th fret
@hearpalhere
@hearpalhere 2 года назад
Yes, you are correct. I'm pretty sure that is what Rotem is playing too in the video. If you play the 4th fret on the d string, you are playing the major 7th instead of the dominant 7th.

Very nice, thanks! One point which is not clear to me, and I have listened to it several times. In the early example with G7 9, the fingering shown in the tab is in fact for G maj 7 9. But Rotem is definitely playing a G7 9 and a G maj 7 as a dominant V chord would be quite weird. Am I missing something? Thx.

hi rotem, when you do the bII9, you are introducing a borrowed chord from C phrygian (G# ionian) ? or is it just a chromaticism? thanks for the video, it was very helpful!

Shalom Rotem! I thank you so much for the contents and the way you explain music. Helps me a lott! I have a Question. Wenn you play the G713 Chord, do you play the chord different that what the tabs on the screen say? What note do you play on the D-String? I dont hear the F#...and honestly, when i play the F# like the tabs, it sound not like you and so nice as if i play the F... Please help me out! (Same "Problem" when the same pattern kicks in at F713) Thanx a lot man!Greetings from Germany
@goingblindmusic
@goingblindmusic 2 года назад
I agree. Shouldn’t it be the F & not the F# as it’s a G7?

What's the theory behind this? I noticed that when I do a ii V I progression with a iim9 - V13 - bII9 - IM9, adding a vm9 and a VI7 at the end sounds pretty cool even when they are technically off key. How is it that the vm7 and VI7 come together so nicely? For example: Eminor9 [iim9], A13 [V13], Eb9 [bII9], DMajor9 [IM9], A minor 9 [vm9], and BV7 [VI7]
@nomadicleopard
@nomadicleopard 2 года назад
I think that vm9 is a substitute for the ii half diminished. If you think about it like this, A minor 9 (A C E G B) and F# half diminished (F# A C E) both contain the same three notes (ACE) so that gives you the option for substitution. In other words, you decided that instead of playing the normal minor 2 5 1 in E minor: F#halfdim - B7 - Em9, you substituted the F#halfdim with A minor 9, which is actually in terms of the key of E minor, the subdominant. Hope this helps!

You made a mistake in the sheet music at 1:50 on the G13 chord. It should be an F-natural and a fret 3 on the 4th string. Great video tho.
