What I love is how well used and worn your sheet music book is. That's a thing that you have spent a lot of time with, and it represents an important part of your life because of that. That makes it a special object worthy of respect and admiration. Pleasing. :-)

Wow... I can't believe more people haven't found this. Rotem, I found you with Paul last week. I LOVED that intro to jazz. I love the sound of jazz, but it seems so foreign to me. I love to listen to you describing what you're doing. Very inspirational. I can sit for 20 minutes just playing that E-dim, A7, D7, G7 to C7#9 progression. Thanks so much for sharing.

I think Jazz is speaking to me, slowly, I listen to you talk and I understand. But when I hear you play it’s like I’m being taken by the hand by someone I know into some place I’ve been before. I think I want to learn how to play jazz on guitar because it’s speaking to me.

Found this gem today and I love how you explain shell chords. What sets you apart (for me) is the fact you not only explain a certain technic or shape, you also provides context and how to use it, while acknowledging that the most important thing at the end of the day is that it sounds good. My interpretation of that is to know the rules so you know how to break them with grace. Thank you for a great video.

Hi Rotem! just to say that this has been the most valuable, easy to follow and powerfull topics I´ve seen so far and everything in just 13min minutes. This video also delivers the importance to have a printed version of the Real Book. About tritones, very well explained. My teacher just taught me tritones and his way of explaining was to substitute any dominant 7 chord in the progression with it´s #4 dominant 7th. Video request: what about 2nd dominant substitution? are those the same as tritones?? can you talk about it. Thanks a lot and will follow you channel and patreon right now!

Might be the best video I've ever seen to bring lots of ideas together in cohesion. It can be a little difficult at times if one isnt a music student per se. The reference to numbers can be confusing - nuances like going from F to B in a chord progression ... I to the IV ... where as playing the root 3rd and 7th first and foremost and only occasionally flatten a 5th or 7th for effect. This can all be a little difficult for a layperson to follow but its starting to make sense

I had not heard of no 5th shell chords before . Looking at this seems a great way to visualize the main tones, keep track of the role of each note in a chord. Another way though to break into real book is through using the 4 inversions of jazz chords using only d g b e strings.

I would love to see your approach on harmonizing a melody on the spot. Like if you and your band are trying to write a song and someone comes up with a melody, how to make cool chords around that melody. Thanks man you're awesome 👍

Hello Rotem. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us and congrats for your music, I love it! This is quite an old post so I don’t expect you to answer but anyways… I’ll give it a try. Both 6th and 5th string voicings can be moved to the 5th and 6th respectively. I was curious to understand if they are used like that as well, as clearly the main difference between the shapes is that the 7th and 3rd are inverted. Thanks and do keep playing !!!
