Back in 76' we were using 1"x .156" wall thickness and would tap with 100% threads for a 3/4" spherical joint... way stronger nowadays ! Appreciate the quality thought process! Respectfully, Seth [ our customers appreciate the quality instructions in your kits ]

Never heard it called a rosette weld. Always knew it as a plug weld

I almost feel i anticipated this. I ordered all my tubes at .120 wall a couple years ago. This kit is exactly what ive been using. The .120 wall has been cheaper than the .095 and .085 wall for as long as i can remember. You can deffinately feel the difference if you switch it to a thin wall if something breaks and thats all u have.

Great presentation! Another reason for not welding one end completely is to much heat can work harden your tube a allow premature failure at the welded area.

I like the way Tim describes how to do a rosette weld, I call them plug welds

Got a question for you Tim. If you had the time away from racing, would you consider a campaign in drag week and or rocky mountain race week? If so, what program would you run? What class would you shoot for? Would Tom Baily have something to worry about?
@Timmcamis
@Timmcamis 4 года назад
That would definitely be a cool endeavor. There would be a lot to consider, but probably would do some type of Pro Mod style street car in the unlimited class with a ProCharger.

You guys that may not be into all of these worlds at the same time may not have noticed that hole location fixture is 3D printed. I cannot tell you how many things I've printed so I can more easily make _real_ parts like Tim is illustrating here. You'd never think you'd see a 3D printer involved in making 2000hp racecar 4 links, would ya? Pretty cool stuff, and cool for Tim to include that in the kit.

why not convert to metric it will free up free up alot of Tims brain holding all that non related barbarian messures, must use alot of braincapacity): still grate stuff!
@TheBrokenLife
@TheBrokenLife 4 года назад
@@fredrikholmgren5748 Because in the US everything metric costs, at least, twice as much unless you're buying insanely vast quantities of materials (and I mean literal cargo containers, plural). Generally speaking, you're preaching to the choir here as far as my opinion on it, but getting the US to convert to the metric system by asking the high end drag racing community to lead the charge is probably not going to be effective. If it's any consolation, every single one of these guys that is using a turbo is buying them based on metric measurements. So... A small victory.

Why not make the hole bigger in the large 4 link, no need for dimpile it?

It's funny how the welding procedures are different from pipe welding procedures yet they both want and require full penetration

Depends where ya go. Yuppy areas and nhra tracks have to follow sponsorships junk. Smaller tracks are on and poppin tho. But who needs a track. The streets are alive every night.
