My mother used to sit around with me for hours detangling my super kinky hair. It was my least favorite part of the week. 20 years later I still have a scar from where I used to dig into my knee to distract me from the pain of styling(I got tired of getting my hand popped) As an adult I found that I wasn’t just tinder headed but I have fibromyalgia, which sends my pain receptors into a tizzy at any touch. When I turned 11 I decided that no one needs to do my hair but me (if you can’t be sensitive to my pain you don’t need to touch me) I decided I was done arguing over whether or not it “really even hurts that bad” As an adult I understand the pressure my mother was under dealing with mid back 4z hair in the early 2000 when black girls didn’t have a lot of options. I see now she was doing the best she could with what she had. It doesn’t give her an excuse to discredit my pain or snap at me for having a lot of hair and experiencing pain (I was still a child after all) As an adult I didn’t let my hair grow past my shoulders until I discovered the silicone detangler brush (u know the one with the moving bristles) and since then my hair routine had been cut down 2 1/2 hours and I no longer dread wash day! I will literally harass any black parent I meet to get the brush (doesn’t have to be a specific brand just get it) If I would’ve had this brush in my youth my entire life would be different… I’d have a better relationship with my mother and more importantly my hair! I stand here today a 26 year old disabled woman who has been freed from the shackles kinky coily hair had placed on my feet in youth. I urge you to buy a rake detangler brush and truly transform your hair routine. Trust me, it will change the relationship you have with your hair instantly! I use my fingers to detangle my hair. Always. I grew my hair to tailbone length. Works every time. Sometimes I do not comb my hair at months at a time. Best method.

I had to pause my detangling session on five week old cornrows!!! KUDOS to your AMAZING product Sis 👏🏾 👏🏾!!! NOT ONLY did I breezing thru each of my 8 cornrows BUT I am also NOT using a comb!!! I love what you said about adding vitamins and minerals to soften water. I always add Infusium 23 Pro-Vitamin B5 complex to my water. I don’t even know why I’ve always done this, but I see now that this has been the right thing to do.

Interesting thoughts of chemistry of the water, but regular tap water really is fine for natural hair, or any kind of hair. It is hard water that you want to avoid at all costs. Great video though!!

I’m amazed, literally purchasing the same products from the video right now. My hair isn’t severely tangled but the back is definitely matted. The bottom row in the back feels like jean material 😂 watching this video just gave me so much hope.

My hair would never detangle like that, it's like velcro so I have to make sure I use thick creamy oily things right after washing to prevent issues until the next time I detangle and wash. A detangling brush is really amazing. I finger detangle first, sometimes having to pull hairs out of knots by going near the scalp and then sectioning and brushing with the detangler, it really smoothes through it and I use it in the shower too, to spread the product around. I used to use wide toothed combs but the detangler brush is less painful and faster.

My hair did this at the ends when I was sick with COVID I believe it was from using bonding conditioners on my ends I had to cut 15inches of hair I was growing for over 10yrs I cried it was terrible. Now all I use is natural products on my hair.

thank you for your video maam. The whole reason I avoid doing my hair/getting it done is because lack of knowledge but mostly because of the combing. I have a very sensitive scalp and it HURTS. I always have since I was a lil girl so getting my hair done is my least favorite activity thats hard to do even tho I hate letting my hair get matted and how crazy I look.
