4-Piece Golf Ball Test // Vice Pro+ VS. ProV1X 

Need a Snell vs. Vice test, as those are the top dogs of Direct to Consumer market. Also like to see how those Srixon's do.

I’ve been using Vice Pro Plus for a couple of years now. As a 5 handicap, I can’t notice the small, subtle differences between the Vice and the premium brands. Plus, I love supporting smaller companies that are innovating and saving consumers money. Great post TXG!

The high spinning irons is the exact same thing I found when I played the vice pro and the vice pro plus. Admittedly I didn't test flightscope numbers, but on course they just stop faster for me. I've been trying a bridgestone as I have stock of them, but I'll definitely by vice again because I like to see more iron spin personally.

Love the vice videos. Bought 5 dozen of the vice pro after your video last week. Hit many on the SkyTrak when they arrived earlier this week and used on the course yesterday and must say, no issues with the durability at all so far. Also love the way they look! Thanks

These last two videos pretty much justify my decision to play Vice, almost identical performance for half the price. Also love the Keep in Line (KIL) mark too, much neater than a sharpie!

Testing them on my launch monitor and course, I found the Vice vs pro V to simply come down to quality of strike. Otherwise they were virtually indistinguishable.

Good to know. I’m in Edinburgh and have just started testing with the Kirkland signature ball from Costco. For just over £ a ball my first impression is good value for money. Only downside is that scuffs a bit compared to Titleist Pro v1x that I primarily use. Good content as always boys

I made the switch to Vic pro plus this year, bought the 5doz deal and they have been great on course, pretty scruff resistant obviously cart paths always win but from sand to full wedge shots into the green they have held up amazingly.

Can't wait to see the Snell balls. I switched to the MTB/MTB-x over a year ago when you guys and MGS testing them out. Playing them in Optic Yellow for now, but may be switching back to White.

Played this for the first time today. It is as good as ProV1X or Bridgestone Tour B X. It is long and firm. It held up well to conditions and had only minor blemishes after. Only downside is it's height on irons.I bombed a few dives over 330 so it goes. It is a fantastic ball and cannot beat the price. Thanks for a great video as always.

Listen I found a vice on the first hole from the range and proceeded to play it. I played it for 6 straight rounds before I lost it. I lost Bridgestone, TP5’s, Prov’s and the VICE did not want to get lost. When I finally lost I decided I needed to find this ball online and buy a box. Then a couple days later you guys did a video on it and sent it to my friend who I was telling about this ball. Feels good to know I played it and felt it’s quality and liked it before seeing your video and you guys have validated that it’s definately a gameable ball

This was a fantastic test, guys. It seems like there might be a player who struggles with insufficient iron spin, but who doesn't want to go all the way to a Mizuno ball, who might find the Vice Pro + is actually an ideal fit. I probably need the opposite at the moment, so these test are super helpful.

It’s always good to see stats from Mr consistency Mat-bot, but it would be cool to see one of your mid handicappers testers (maybe Ron?) hit these balls vs Bridgestone vs Snell. The dispersion numbers would be higher, but very interesting to see whether they follow the same trend as Matty’s.

Cool you guys are testing Vice. I've been trying it out as my fun round ball. Very interested to see greenside wedge spin test, this is where I'm seeing it pale in comparison to PV1x. Not sure if that's in my head.

I currently game the vice pro soft, have done so for a couple of years. They hold up really well!

I use the Vice Pro Soft myself. Compression of about 65 and good for low to medium swings. Durability has been fine . Reminds me of the AVX from Titleist at about half the price. I think VIce makes a quality ball at any of their levels of choice including the one in this review. Great analysis in this review guys. Thank you Ian and Matt.

I just tested all of the VICE golf balls, they're really good considering their price point is much lower than the Pro V's

I'm playing the Snell MTB X, this year. It's very long, I love the firm feel. Spins fine from over 50 yards out. Struggling with chipping though. Spin rate drops around the green. Think I will swap it out 2021.

I love the look of the Vice Pro. I have a couple of them in my bag and will be Teeing off with them this evening.

Looking forward to the snell stuff. I’ve been using them and love them. They are a bit clicky though, it’s my only negative.

I like these tests of golfballs! But using GC Quad indoors we won’t notice any differenses in aerodynamics. Using both GC Q and Trackman outside a windy day when testing different golfballs would be really interesting!

I’m in love with the Vice pro plus at the moment. I used to play the Z Star but there is something about the Vice that feels so very good off the face that it has become my number 1 ball. I want to try some Pro V1 balls, I haven’t played them enough to have a valid opinion.

I play vice tour ... love them !! Great value for what I'm getting out of the ball... im my eyes I can't bring myself to go pro v when I don't play consistently enough to get the value especially around the greens when my shot is bump and run rather than lofted chips

I've played this Vice Pro+ all season and love then. Shoot high 80s.

Been playing the Vice PP for couple of months and like it’s overall performance. As a senior golfer I like the lime green color for visuals. Even if my swing speed is slower than what’s it’s rated for the ball, it gives me all the bells and whistles I want in a golf ball. Glad there is a discount for bulk orders.

I have been playing Srixon z star and I like that ball quite a bit. I’ve found some vice on occasion and played with them. Seemed like a good ball. The only ball I’ve had durability issues with has been Cut.

Any chance you boys can talk about putter feel when you do comparisons. I know this is hugely subjective but I personally think it’s one of the deciding factors on ball choice. 👍🏻👍🏻

I’ve been using Vice balls for about a year now almost exclusively and in many different conditions on many different courses and these are by far my favorite balls to use. Durability is insane for the price point. Honestly they only time I’ve ever seen any real damage to one was after I sliced a drive and hit the cart path... highly recommend. P.S I use the Vice Tour because I find it suits my style of playing better but have tried them all.

I'm hooked on the OnCore Elixr ball that I don't understand how, but has given me more distance and control than any other ball I've used previously. They just released a third ball that is a more "tour" ball. It would be cool to see you test those out on screen.

I'm playing hcp 5 and my ball is the Vice Tour ,great in feel with putting and driving best value for the money.

Very interesting. When I compare numbers with your Vice Pro / Pro V1 test, it looks like the variation in swings from one day to the next can override the difference between golf balls. First test had higher wedge ball speeds, second test had higher 7 iron and driver ball speeds. Would need the full dataset to do a better comparison between tests done on different days (clubhead speed, angle of attack, etc.) and then try to factor in ball speed to spin rate/carry distance. After that, I guess my main takeaway is that ... Vice appears to have a pretty good value for money golf ball !

I think a lot of people would like to see a "budget" urethane ball comparison. Balls like the Srixon Q-Star Tour, Cut DC, Kirkland, etc. These balls are not meant to compete with the likes of a ProV1, but are still have a urethane cover.

Would be interested in white ball discoloration of the Vice during an outdoor test. I bought some white balls in 2018 and the tacky surface got really stained after a few holes. I bought some red Vice Pro + this season and they are pretty good. Can't see staining but perhaps because of color. Performance was good but would be scared to try their white ball again.

Been playing Vice for a while (almost 3 years) after finding a Vice Pro Soft in the weeds. It felt like a practice rubber ball (so soft), but launched off the face (extra 5 yards, high and landed soft). Played that ball for about 1.5 rounds before I hit it back in the weeds. Bought 5 dozen soon after that and haven’t went back to ProV since. Also, if I lose a ball I’m not as upset.

Would love to see you guys compare the new OnCore Vero X1 versus the Titleist ball

I’d be super interested in seeing a test between the Vice Pro and the Taylormade Project (a) I personally shot a perfectly similar few rounds when I compared the (a) to the TP5 and the ProV1 (I’m a +3) I currently game the Project (a) and coming in at about a fiver less per dozen, I can’t find a reason to even really try the Vice balls..

I totally agree with the Vice. Much harder feeling ball. Could you compare the Volvik 2020 viMax Matte Golf Balls? Feel it will perform right up there with the Titleist Pro V1 for much less. Keep up the great work guys! You've honestly changed my game for the better!

Any ball recommendations for old school blades (Daiwa DG-8601)? Current preferred ball is TP5x (w/Srixon Z765). Also I’m curious about what current ball would play most like a ball of that era (early 1990s)?

Would love to see also a review of the Vice Pro Soft. If possible in a direct comparison to the Taylormade Tour Response and Titleist Tour Speed as all of them are the entry level of urethane cover for moderate swing speed.

My only input is I tried a few of the colored ones this year and they scraped after a hit or two. Not sure if it is the color or how I hit. Still functional I played a whole round with it after that. Mainly cosmetic. I have yet to try the white

After the vice pro video I purchased some and since played 18 with them. No durability issue preformed just like prov1 maybe struggled a fraction in the wind

Played the Pro Plus for 2 years now. They hold up well. There is a slight difference in feel but at half the price per dozen (if you buy in bulk) of the ProV1 line it’s worth it to avoid that losing a $4 golf ball feeling.

It might be a cool experiment to see Vice and Snell tour balls up against similarly priced options from the big guys such as q-star.

I use the Vice Pro Plus Soft. what is the equivalent Titleist ball? I really like the Vice balls and have used them since last year and played well over 100 rounds with them.

Love Vice balls. I play the Pro soft or the Drive ($14/dozen). The covers are weird though. I feel like they scuff less than a Titleist, but they seem to get discolored quickly. The ball will be smooth as it was when you took it out of the sleeve but look like you found it in the woods after 9 holes. Not sure what that's about, luckily golf holes don't grant entry on looks.

I love the pro and the pro plus great ball great price got the pro plus in green but love the pro drip as well

I played pro plus like 2 years ago so maybe it’s changed since then but I thought it was great in cold weather, maintained distance well but off the irons I was spinning it way too much. Would spin approach shots off the greens frequently

Hey Matty, your swing, especially with your driver, is so much longer now. Curious as to why you made that change as I am currently working on shortening my swing similar to Rahm. I actually get slightly less swing speed, but much better smash factor and way more center hits so adding distance and better control.

I second or third or 20th the Snell MTB-X vs Vice's, I use MTBX and love them but im a sucker for Vices marketing and creativity im not going to lie lol

Call me crazy, but I have noticed a slight difference in the yellow Pro V and the white. The yellow feels a but firmer to me but seems to perform the same. I know feel is subjective, but just my observation. Love the videos, keep up the great work!!

Played the vice pro plus all of 2016. Switched back to pro v1x and it’s blatantly a better ball than the vice. Ended up switching to the tour b330s and still have three dozen left. Just tried the 2021 pro v1 and now I’m considering switching back lol. The vice balls are amazing for the money but don’t kid yourselves when anyone says they’re on par with tour balls.

I’ve been playing Vice since I found them and my girl plays pro v1. My Vice holds up and never had issues with it. Most I have seen after 20+ holes with the same ball is a few green grass marks but nothing crazy. Paint holds up well.

Can you guys do this again with the new versions? Testing them vs the old versions of themselves too, would be cool also.

Maybe a silly question but, I'll ask it any way. Is their a second factor to compression as the ball hits the fairway ie fairway firmness ,speed, and land angle etc that could be taken into a count .
