This is the best, most honest and direct, video on this topic that I've seen..And it's true for EVERY overseas destination. I'm in Japan, and have seen the same things, both for myself, and when working in Relocations, helping people and families settle into their life for a year or so in a new work assignment. I hope you are successful in your stay in the U.K....(one hint: different local areas are different. If you're having trouble socially, sometimes you're a better fit in a different local area.)
You forgot to mension the mindster of the people, especially in London. Just go to the underground, everyone is depressed as fck. I changed London for Liverpool and definitely I feel more happy here, however I don't see myself living in the UK for the rest of my life.
One thing I wonder is how to make friends when you don’t really drink alcohol? Pub culture is so huge and I always feel a bit weird going to a pub when I don’t drink beer. So what are your best tips to integrate with people in such a scenario or just in general? 😊
Pubs will always have soft drinks like coka cola or you can just get some normal water, if someones really your friend they're not going to care that you don't drink, or at least they won't force it on you. Sometimes its even fun when your the sober one in a group because you can watch your friends do daft and silly things.
