[FREE Guide] "Basic Techniques" guide to trail ride with confidence - motocrosshideout.com/basic/
I bought a CRF250R 4 stroke motocross bike with a hanging idle problem. The idle RPM speed kept changing, it was backfiring when I gave it throttle, it wouldn't stay running without choke, and it required a 48 or 50 pilot jet to start and run, which is too rich for this bike.
In this video, I'll show you step-by-step how I troubleshoot, diagnose, and fix dirt bike problems such as this.
After I got it fixed, this 2006 Honda CRF250R started 1st kick cold using a 45 pilot at 1.5-2.0 turns out on the fuel screw. It has great throttle response, idles smoothly, and has great power.
The CRF150R also has a common hanging idle problem.

Thx for the simple steps, it seems like not running the bikes is the worst thing for them

Yes, mainly due to pump gas causing so many problems when it sits, especially if it has ethanol in it. If you could get ride and get the engine up to full operating temps at least once a month, you'd rarely have those problems.

Great vid man. Thanks for all the tips. Mine is doing similar. But only after I messed with the carb. Now I def have an air leak. So need to pull the whole thing off. Any vids for getting the carb off easy. As when I tried it was a nightmare

CRF250R? Yeah it's a pain, but I've gotten fairly quick at it now. -Take seat off (I usually tank the tank off as well) -Remove muffler -Remove subframe (make sure carb clamp is loose first) -Remove rear shock (2 bolts - bike needs to be on a square stand) -Now you have easy access to the carb For getting the carb back on, I put the carb into the engine side manifold first, then remove the air filter and stick my hand through the airboot and push it onto the carb bell so that it's fully seated.

I give gas to the KTM and it continues to hold it, the revs drop after 10 seconds, sometimes it revs up on its own, the fuel screw is fine, I don’t know what it is, please help ❤

Can I rev my bike when in neutral gear?? Because when I am doing that, it turns off 😅

Probably a lean mixture, a whitish colored sparkplug may confirm this suspicion.

As mentioned, it could be lean, but dirt bikes aren't meant to be revved in neutral with no load on the engine. If it's doing the same thing when in gear and you're trying to accelerate, then I'd try and fix it, if that makes sense.
