In this video I go over my Tips for picking a weight class all my weight cutting tips should be taken with a grain of salt but everything has worked for me that I advise
I was a junior and 5'7 wrestling at 167. Three months later, after the season ended im 5'7 1/2 (5'7 and a half) sitting at 195 pounds. Im currently in summer break going into senior year. My one main goal in life is to grow atleast 3 inches and be a 285. That sounded impossible but ive met people whove done it. Hopfully i can doctor says im still growing 🙏
My senior year I was 5'10 175 lbs. (Now I'm 5"11 and in between 175-180 and no longer wrestling) For those who are new to wrestling in middle or high school: Wrestle your closest natural weight. My first year of wrestling I was 5'8 140-145lbs. I should have wrestled 138 but my stupid brain thought it would be a good idea to cut down to 132. That doesn't sound like much but believe me. When you have no residual strength at all and aren't tkening strength or conditioning classes and solely relying on technique, Cutting below 1 weight class below your natural weight is a death sentence. For experienced wrestlers (2 years or more): Cut down to the max weight class your doctors and coach tell you to cut down. If a coach says, "Oh you can make this weight but you need a doctor's note to loose so much weight." DON'T DO IT! I've had people on my team have to quit due to medical reasons because some idiot decided to go from 182 down to 145. If you are cutting more than 30 pounds and your not a 220 or heavyweight, Your setting yourself up for stunted growth. TLDR 1-2 years: cut one weight class below your regular weight 3 or more years: Cut as much weight as you medically can within the 30 pound weight cut limit.
I weighed 140 but i wrestled 132 regularly but one time i had to make 126 with in 4 days so i cut like 14 pounds do u think i can do this regularly throught the season
I weigh 140-143. I want 138 this year. Is that a smart decision? Ive grown since last season. I did decent as 120 but got crushed as 126. But grown in size via height and muscle
I wrestled at 120 last year (122 with 2 pound allowance). I would normally walk around at 129-132 lbs. Post season: I currently walk around at 133-137 lbs. I want to go to 120 again next year, but I’m not sure if my hydration test will let me. Any tips for pre-hydration test preparation
So I box at 125-132lbs when I eat whatever I want my walking weight is 145lbs, before the season starts I bring myself down to abt 135-138, so my cut only ends up cutting 2-12lbs and I feel absolutely huge and extremely strong at both weights.
I was 145 during last season, and during the off-season bc of lifting I jumped up to 152-157 region, I’m wondering if I should for next season keep grinding to work up to 160, or cut down to 145 or 138, for next season. I’ve made the cut before and it doesn’t seem too hard to do, it’s definitely manageable but I’m just wondering where I should go with this.
I keep watching your vids. I wrestled once in high school. Coach teamed me up with a blind guy. What is this blind kid gonna think about me grabbing his nuts? I just could not do it! I enjoy listening to you ramble on about wrestling but I just don't understand it. Carry on, my friend.
I'm 5 ft 5.5 or 5 ft 6 and weigh 132 people I am very bulky, muscular for my weight class and i wrestle tall skinny people all the time should i go up a Weight class or go down a weight class or stay at this one
Stay bro that's the dream for you. Im 5'10 132 and im really debating going up because i'm naturally 140 and anytime I go against someone with your body type its impossible for me to move past the first takedown.
I'm 5'9 and was 189 pounds and went into the 182 class and got rolled by guys that were much bigger. biggest mistake ever. didn't help that they were all state and all Americans.
urgan furganson it depends on your height are you growing? Are you the tallest person in your weight? If yes then go up you don’t want to stunt your growth. But if you’re like 5’3 or something and your parents are short then you might want to cut. If you go up a weight class you should weigh at least 3 more than your Scratch weight walking
You would be cutting 15% of your walking weight, 17% of your wrestling weight. This wouldn't be a good idea, 112 is the lowest you should cut to, but 10% body weight is still a pretty gnarly cut
No need to cut weight bro your in 6th grade wrestle your weight get that experience and then once you get to high school you want a varsity spot and you may have to cut weight
cutting is very easy if your 180+ and not a complete hoss. just don't eat breakfast and have a light dinner +some cardio and you can lose 10+ pounds in 2-3 weeks
im currently around 5’5/5’6 and a half. im wrestled 120 but i’m walking around 129/130 at the moment. i often got crushed at 120 but did better at 126 even for the built skinny guy i am. i’ve been thinking of buffing up to 138 but i honestly have no idea should i just stick to 126? or should i buff up as much as i can (if it’s even possible) within these next 2-3 months before season and wrestle 138. there is alot of guys from the 120-145 weight range and i honestly don’t know what to do. i’m about to be a junior and i just don’t know what to do right now about all of this
Alright I weigh 147 and I’m a varsity wrestler I bench over 200 so there weight to loose but that’s not a bad thing drink lots of water were your peeing like every 8-10 minutes and lots of cardio and just don’t eat as much bad food
Yea that's tough, I wrestled 132 my freshman year this year and I tried dropping to 120 for a tournament but I started feeling super sick when I was really close to being 120 and I pussied out.
