What other speed hacks do you have? Let me know! Maybe Ill add them in another video :) Also, if you are wanting to speed up your editing process & Support me; check out our newest seamless transition pack! brmediapro.com/sp/seamless-transitions/
Thanks for tips. One hint: Render in Place DNxHR SQ also supports alpha channel (at least on Windows), so it might be a good compromise to choose without the need to switching between LB and HQ all the time. Or at least space saver for all transparent items.
I really apprecaite it! Im going to keep going, things have been slow because I've been having to do other work. This doesn't bring in much money at all unfortunately. Im working to make it happen though. Hopefully I can post weekly again soon :)
I know it’s hard and we appreciate your time and passion on doing these videos. You make them so funny and easy to understand them. Fusion is not so scary with your videos lol 🤣 By the ways I love your seamless transitions!!! I will support your work as much as I can 🤘🏼
Really appreciate your knowledge. This video was a bit much for me to absorb, but I thought it would be great if you could do a video on why and when you would use a DNX codec. You mentioned several types of codecs, but you lost me as to when I should use codec versus a different one. Maybe telling us what each one does and doesn't do!
If you have timeline(s) with lots of "Render In Place" clips (that are huge), is it a problem when archiving the project? What I do is apply "Decompose to Original" before creating an Archive project to save disk space. When using Render in Place I change also the clip color so that pre-rendered clips stand out from the rest.
Good question. There are so many issues with archiving. I can literally never get past the first asset before it errors out. Apparently you can't archive a project if it has a still image?? Would be great to see an archiving video that works through the issues rather than just showing it done when everything works the first time. Hint hint, Billy LOL.
@@LaszloParkanyi Oh I agree. It is very impressive. Both projects I've attempted to archive have errored out at the very first asset. The research I've done has indicated that this is not uncommon. I'm hopeful that someone will do a video on working through those errors
Hey Billy! I just discovered your channel yesterday and till now have watched more than 20 videos..I just wanted to ask you to make a video on how to edit talking head videos like a pro..please try to make a video on this.. love from India
Thanks Billy sir really love your videos and love the smile. BTW never let that smile down you look cute in it. :) This would help me when i do more editing on a custom editing rig, But need to wait for 5 monts until i earn that much to get a basic editing leveled PC. Sadly i burnt my GPU i cant run editing programs nor any game :( i had a GT710 2GB
billy is there a way to do render in place wit fusion? I did it before and it seemed to work, putting motion blur on a clip. Now when I do it it takes forever I have to cancel and it basically crashes. IDK if I am getting a setting wrong but I have done it before. fug
problem ive had for two weeks now: yknow how when you press play while editing, fusion effects render a bit funky depending on what ur doing, but then once you let it prerender its fine? that happens, but when i export it looks funky the same way it does when it hasnt prerendered. thoughts, my g?
So if it pre-renders weird, odds are you just need to move it and it will cache again. Also you can just render in place so that you can see what the completed effect will be without all the lag.
@@BillyRybka nah it pre renders fine, but when i do the proper render it goes funky (like when you dont prerender properly, but this is in final render for some reason)
Literally just finished a new music video project in Davinci , this would have been super helpful a few hours earlier 😂 Thanks for the neat tips though , Billy!
I am brand new to video editing, so please go easy on me if I ask a stupid question. I had a laptop that wasn’t sufficient for editing, but before I knew that I was doing a lightsaber video from a tutorial in davinci resolve 17. I had no issues until it came time to render. Fast forward and I got a new desktop that has the necessary requirements to edit. The version of resolve was 17.44 but when I use the polygon tool to create my saber exactly as I did on my laptop with the previous version of resolve 17, it creates the effect in every single frame of the video instead of just where I added
i was using render in place for a long time whenever that title is heavy but always used to composite with below clip😢😢..1st tip would really save my time and all those remaining tips for fusions are just amazing....
I'm glad I didn't comment about your intro title on one of the older videos of yours that keep popping up in my recommendations, because you don't use the "Billv Rvbka" text any more. :P
You were right, this was actually really useful. I'm surprised you didn't say to pick the H.265 option as that has been the best method of rendering for me. If I do it in any other way, I get weird artifacting when exporting. I guess this could be different because it is rendering in Davinci, but I don't know.
I have been learning so much from you Billy. Sorry to ask, since you don't have it in description. But do you have any donation link where i can contribute for your growth? (At this point your growth is also my growth, not gonna lie ahahah)
The saver and loader are definitely something I'm gonna try moving forward. Thanks. I've been trying with the proxy and auto proxy and those have done nothing to improve my performance. Maybe it's a bug.
Update: tried using the saver node thing but the render time was extremely long. It was going to take 5 hours to render a less than 20 second comp. If I render the whole project, it takes an hour. Basically, I can render the entire project 5 times in the time that it takes the saver nodes to render.
Dude I recently moved from Pr to Dv. I have one Question. How to Change Speed for Multiple clips at same time like premier. We do like selecting multiple clips and change duration. But here in Davinci even we select all clips and clicking the option 'Change clip speed' it only changing single clip😕
Hey thanks for the tips. I usually have auto caching transintions set for the project... That works great for me and I don't have to think about rendering anything in place at least for the transitions of course. Cutting those little bits around the transition in case I wanna change something later in the whole clip later on doesn't seem to be the smoothest solution to me. The other tips are awesome. Love your work. Thanks again.
All this ("Saver" node, "Auto Domain" node, render in place, etc) look like things that could and should be automatically handled by DaVinci, as opposed to manual chores for the editor...
Not really, the saver can take a lot of time to render and you don't want to render something that isn't finished yet. So if it was automatic then you would waste a ton of time
Hey Billy! I just have a quick question. Normally when you move the red playback line with the mouse, the soundtrack plays the sound in the speed with which you move the playback. Weirdly my Davinci Resolve doesn't do this anymore. Do you know if there is any option to turn this on and off? Maybe I accidently hit a key bind I don't know about. Hope you can help :)
Hey Billy! Was curious when it came to the Auto Domain node. That definitely helps when you're within the Fusion comp, but if you look at the Media Out node in the viewer, it still retains the resolution of your timeline when working in Resolve. Is there any way around that, or is it the one bit of extra rendering we have to be okay with after we've cut away the rest of the fat?
the second tip is very usefull for me, although untill now I used multible timelines in a project. a complex clip with lots of processing would have its own timeline. I then render this clip en bring it in the overall timeline that just does cuts and stuff... this is in a way a workaround. but last year i had a project with lots of rotoscoping (like 30 layers) that might have been better with the "save" node!
Oh man, 30 layers of rotoscoping 🤮 That sounds PAINFUL! Id utilize a tool like RunwayML for rotoscoping, its way faster and it doesnt make me hate my life 😂😂 Yes the Saver node would For sure help with that!
Make sure the computer is plugged in first. If not then its going to be slow ALWAYS! Resolve demands a ton from your computer. Utilize these tricks and hopefully things will speed up a bit for you. Also make sure you are using the newest resolve version & that all your drivers are updated on your computer.
@@BillyRybka Now ı plugged and added timeline 4k 60 fps djı mavic air 2 drone video. I added digital glitch to 4 second video ı am watching 1fps when I played video in time line. İs it normal ???
Thanks for the vids, love your channel! Liked and subscribed. I'm not sure how others feel, but hearing the background music while you are talking is distracting and irritating IMHO.
