⚠️ A staggering 40% of people with Bipolar Disorder admit to cheating on their partners during an episode. I know that sounds so unbelievable that you are probably wondering... where I got that number, and why this happens so often?
👉 Bipolar infidelity feels extremely personal, but I assure you, it isn't. For most of us, it's simply a means-to-an-end... A way to chase the euphoric mania and avoid impending depression. It has nothing to do with “love or passion” and everything to do with illness. Someone with Bipolar cheats while in the grip of a manic episode. It's a nasty symptom of a nasty illness... and that doesn't make it OK. An explanation is NOT an excuse.
❓ How do we know if Bipolar cheating is related to the illness, or if there's a deeper problem in the relationship? Do I stay in the relationship, or do I leave my unfaithful partner? These are excellent questions, and I'll do my very best to answer them in this video from Polar Warriors.

This was very interesting. My husband said he can definitely see how cheating is a common thing for people with bipolar disorder, before I actually listened. It makes sense how it could easily happen. Does it make it ok? Of course not. But it does make sense on how/why it happens. I'm so thankful I haven't had any manic episodes in a few years now. But my husband is always wanting me to have one... He misses the hypersexuality lol.

I kind of cheated on my partner before we were really serious. I kept making out with another woman. We never had sex. I told my partner. She broke up with me. But about a month later, we worked it out, and we have been together almost 15-17 years. It is hard, but we work through all of this crap.

My dad cheated on my mom multiple times due to his bipolar. As bad as this disorder can get I vow to never cheat on my spouse. My mom still stayed with him after everything, really changed me for worse and for the better.

I’m currently in a mixed state. My sex drive is as up and down as I am. It’s so difficult and I fight urges all the time. I can’t put my partner through that again. I have my ways of staying faithful while unwell and my partner is happy with it. Thank you so much for your videos 😊

I think you might have left out an important question to know the answer to:(How does your partner feel or think about the other person? ) It could've been an emotionalless impulse action, where they may later regret being involved with that person or situation.

My boyfriend broke up with me during maniac episode while I was 6 months pregnant with our baby. He completely destroyed his work and social life, got problems with police. He opened tinder and kept telling me that I’m boring and not his type anymore. Slept with a girl in our apartment when I was isolating from him since he was very aggressive and was threatening on me and the baby. In the end he got to the psychiatric hospital without his consent and he’s still very aggressive difficult to stabilize. He’s being tied to the bed due to his dangerous behavior. I know he cheated while being maniac but I don’t know how I will manage to forgive all of that. I will for sure look at signs if he even regrets that after being stable and wants to work on the illness. If not, that’s over… even if it means for me to be a single mom. It’s been his 4 maniac episode and every time it’s worse and worse. I’ve been supporting him for the last 3 years but I’m getting out of energy for that and I’m myself close to depression. Hypersexuality plagued me for most of my life but being married helped that and I never cheated while I was married. My bipolar was a factor (not the only one) in my marriage failing.😢

I voted in that poll!! I didn’t cheat on my long term partner during an episode, but did decide to explore gender/sexuality/polyamory and we broke up because of of that. 3 years later, episode is over and I am back to being the same person I always was, just a bit more free and aware of myself. Definitely go thru phases of hyper sexuality every few years.

Thank you for this. My First Boyfriend when I was 17 is Bi-polar 1. We only lasted 5 months, back then. He was 16 at the time. He cheated on me that summer. I will never know if it was his Mania or Deliberate. He did Apologize to Me Years later. The thing is, with My First Boyfriend/Ex, I never did the Research. I do not know if it never occurred to me to do it or what. This is also Helpful Now in My Current Relationship. To My Knowledge, he has been Faithful to Me Thus Far and it will be a Year for us This August.
