What could that adjustment on the back be? It is one of the two styles which its supposed to adjust the fake BFO. I got one to examine that (and made a video) but YT wanted to silence it because of the song playing over the air. I dont think this style BFO circuit was any better than the gimmic capacitor wire.
It looks like all the bands are off by the same amount (in physical distance). You can probably correct quite a bit by moving the actual pointer, if it can move, before digging In to the coils and caps for alignment. Great radio.
I would not be surprised if it did not go back to when the string was cut and placed under tension to turn the dial physically. And dear god don't mess with it. I would rather rebuild this radio from raw components than mess with a tuner thread.
Almost all of the Hallicrafters radios from that era say in the manual to align them with the bandspread set at 100. It may have been close to properly aligned before you started.
Hey guy who posted this video , I just dug this up from my parents house it was my grandpaps. Am I allowed to use this or do you need an fcc license ? Is there a cheap antenna I can use just to mess around with it ?
