It’s a rule of thumb that Blue-Eyes players are dumb. Idk why he didn’t target his own monster for Ring of Destruction and force a tie. I would have done that

Reminds me of the good old times of your going second pure Lyrilusc deck which is to this day still my favorite one in this game, I used it in both of those recent events and even with one Starling it was borderline broken in the Anthology one and pretty competitive in the XYZ except against Lab I would say; one would be surprised how often even in ladder people activate effects trying to deal with one of your monsters only for the influence of the brown bird to force them to target their own stuff.
Funny story with that deck. I was playing abyss actors and since they wanted to go second I pend summoned everything in defense. My opponent was playing this deck and had a five mat with psychic blade and everything. I had lost hope but after the first attack a prompt appeared for leading ladies effect which reduced the attack of the monster by the damage I've taken I reduced the nightingales attack to zero and won next turn
