He heard the grinding in every shift guy needs to go back to driving school or he’s gonna be replacing a lot of those shitty ass transmissions they already can’t hold much more than stock power let alone a guy who can’t shift while pushing 400 to the crank
He wasn't literally asking how the transmission was going. This is what, in English, is called a grammatical metaphor. What he said can be translated as either "You don't know how to change gears smoothly" and/or "I don't think if we should be pushing it this much given the built spec" ...
i actually felt bad. dude probably hustling like we all and has now a big damage on his car. i know its his fault what so ever. but still you can see he was hurt big time :(
So many comments about this. Why? Are you all assuming the noise between shifts is his clutch grinding? Has nobody heard of a blow of valve before? Sounds like the turbo venting to atmosphere when he lets off the throttle to me.
@@shadowbanned3716 Definitely lmao. That kid next to him didn't ask how the trans was doing just for fun, he recognized that the driver was shifting like a f*cking idiot 😅
@@tinyrodent2821I’m staring at these comments and 90% of people are saying it’s the sound of grinding gears. Im over here confused because it sounds exactly like the sound of a BOV so I’m trying to figure out if 90% of these people are just dumb or what 😭
I’ll never forget when my roommate in the marines was giving me a ride somewhere in his older model Audi. His exact words to me were “I drive my car like I would a race car” not even 10 mins later his cars engine went up in smoke
@@chrisylink I'm British and I have a Megane 4 RS. I've only ever driven manuals. Those are definitely the Blow of Valve venting the turbo gases to atmosphere. They cut off when he's back on the throttle, which you expect from an actuator. If he was grinding his gears it would be significantly louder, been there, done that.
@@tinyrodent2821 I'm not saying that isn't the blow off sound. Never said that at all. And I've driven manual cars my entire life yet I never felt the need to shift like a caveman.. I don't care about the sound
He wasn't literally asking how the transmission was going. In the English language, this is what we call a grammatical metaphor. Given the context, what he said could be translated as either "You don't know how to change gears properly" or "I think you're pushing it too much given the built spec" 😀
I always enjoy this classic when it pops up in my recommended again. Every time I watch I notice more small but amusing details, like the passenger's little eyebrow-raise when the driver says "Fine man".
Can't imagine what could have happened considering that silky-smooth shifting. Try full speed in reverse, then pop it into 1st. That'll create a magnetic field that will pull all the fragmented spurs back on to the gears.
Seriously I hate when people shift like this guy! Constantly downshifting and shifting back in gear for no reason every 5 seconds, he did like 3 grinds, 1 per shift in a row from 2-5?! How the fuck do you do that??? I can’t remember the last time I accidentally grinded gears like that lmao
I think when that kid asked "hows the trans holding up" it was more of a rhetorical question because he recognised he changed gear like a total novice.
still kills me he was running 20lbs of boost through a stock drivetrain. Coupled with what looked like an attempt at no lift shifting like he was trying to start a seized up lawnmower hahahaha. Kid knew clown shoes were coming out.
@@Gzminecraft03 cuz the only vid we see of this guy shifting and he fucks it up. i been through this tho so i definitely get the hate, cuz its really your own fault if it happens. but he basically let the clutch out too fast, mans didnt shift as fast as his feet can move. he let go mid shift , you can tell by matching the looks with sound
moises cristobal the engine is everything when it comes to Hp. It’s what makes the power. My comment was directed toward the guy who said it doesn’t make Hp anymore.... it does. It just can’t do anything with it.
watching this was actually painful, you could tell his passenger was a better driver just by asking that question he knew what's up and the driver was just like "pshhh fine man"
@@Ben.N well thats stupid. Would you say someone is a good doctor if they asked for the pokey thingy? Or a good at video games if they needed a new clicky thingy? Miss me with that simpness
I have a feeling he has money to do the trans. He didn't seem too upset. I've lost 2 engines and it's gut wrenching(And I had the money for a full rebuild last time, including new turbo, still gut wrenching because it was most my cash at the time). He seemed to be almost expecting it / ready for it.
The trans was holding out for some love "One day he will treat me right, this abuse is temporary." Once it heard how little he cared for it, it finally ended the relationship.
The drivers face is the exact face you make when you mess something up in front of someone but you try to play it off cool so you don’t seem so embarrassed
I would just show it immensely. I don't give a fuck if I gotta worry about what I would look like to somebody else. Even though I have mad social anxiety, I would freak tf out. Thousands of dollars. OH HELL NO
@@shaniqiuadatrannyqueen502 comes w owning a “built” car, you upgrade one thing but don’t upgrade other components it’ll come outta your pocket later on
@@user-360johnn did you see how he was shifting? The guy was pulling on the gear knob like his fishing pole just caught onto something. He was literally pulling the soul out of it.
SuBros actually really suprising that it held 400 for a while let alone last 12 years , my 06 5speed is close to the end or just my throw out bearing lol
@@Grandtank1999 Who cares if he can afford to rebuild it when it broke from his incompetent driving. On the other hand there's no information regarding this vehicle having 400whp, nor thats a very hard number to reach. By the way David, its labeled as 400 crank hp at 0:02. Grow up people theres nothing impressing about any of this.
I think he meant from dig. Issue here was he was just making way over power of rated factory numbers. I use to own same car and did plenty of rolling accelerations from 2nd never had issue and I was mostly stock.
@@voidwalker9223 problem is he didn't do so much of a rolling acceleration because of the brake boost. It's usually driveline SHOCK (going from 0 to handling 300hp in no time like in the video) than the power itself. He brake boosted instead of rolling onto the power ...basically the same as a launch in terms of damage lol
