On aging. In 40k as a space marine grows older their skin becomes more leathery, hair greys, they get wrinkles ect. but they lose none of their vigor so physically a 500 year old marine can be as fit as a 20 year old one. The oldest naturally aging space marine is Commander Dante who is over 1500 years old. As far as I know, none of them have died from old age but 300+ years of warfare eventually something gets lucks so most are killed by the 200-300 year range. As for base line humanity I believe they get a lifespan a little longer than people today but that's assuming you live on a planet that isn't 10 sides of horrible and you have a good social standing. There is also was for people to extend their line span if you can afford/earn it. There is Rejuvinate treatments that can extend your lifespan to around 400 years. You can also become a cyborg but that ends when you have to start replacing to much of your brain. The warp and daemons can also extend a persons lifespan indefinitely but your treating with daemons so might not be the best idea. The last one is halo devices but that will warp your body and mind into something else.

@@ddrozdov01 Well I was talking about non-Chaos influenced space marines or space marines that didn't spend long amounts of time in the warp or on daemon worlds. I feel Cypher falls under that category but nobody really knows. Bile physically isn't that old. Remember he has to change out his body every so often with clones to keep going. I also wouldn't count people that spent time in stasis or other types of time travel so I wouldn't include primaris marines in that. Dante was a kid in 452.M40 according to Dante (the book) so he is around 1,659 as of Plague War if the calendar is right (which it probably isn't).

9:20 that guys voice sounds like that because he tanked a sniper shot with his face that targeted Grimaldus. He lost his lower jaw and got a augmentic replacement, but he has a perpetual lisp for his trouble 14:20 Astartes are for all intense and purpose biologically immortal. They age up to around 3000 years until they start to deteriorate with the Astartes of the Blood Angels genetic line getting as old as 4-5000 years. But they usually die way way before that in combat. The oldest Astartes is technically Björn the fellhanded of the Space Wolves Legion who is interred into a dreadnaught and is around 11000 years old. The oldest none dreadnaught Astartes is Chapter Master Luis Dante of the Blood Angels who is some 1500 years old and still alive and kicking as any newly inducted guy. 200 years though is considered a decent and respectable age.

@@ddrozdov01 Thats doesnt count due to warp fuckery. For example Talos Valcoran a Night Lords Veteran who was born on Nostramo and was a direct consultant of Konrad Curze himself was a veteran of both the Crusade and the Heresy. Yet while technically thousands upon thousands of years passed since the heresy ended, in reality the Heresy was just mere centuries ago for Talos. As in the warp time flows differently, even for individuals on the same ship. Fabius Bile is even a worse example to this, as he had his base of operations on one of the former Eldar core worlds and with that the heart of the Eye of Terror itself. Also Dante isnt 2500 years old. The Plague Wars was the conflict that Guilliman waged after the Indomitus Crusade ended. The 13th Black Crusade ended around 999 m41 The Indomitus Crusade ended 111 m42 Meaning only some 100 years after the 13th temper tantrum ended and the great rift tore the galaxys asshole in twain. Dante was born 447 m40, that makes dante around 1700 years old

"Made by one person" is misleading. It is an animation made by one person, based on an audiobook voiced by several people (mainly Jonathan Keeble), which itself is an adaptation of a novel by Aaron Demski-Bowden. Aside from the animation, it is all published by Games Workshop's publishing division, Black Library; the animation is fan work. "One person" diminishes the contributions of everyone involved before Richard Boylan added (very good) animation to it. Boylan has since been hired by Games Workshop to created animated works for them.

The floating skulls are called servo skulls, and they are the closest thing you have to a smart phone. They do a little bit of everything. In this instance it was recording the ceremony for the records. It’s a lobotomized brain, so it’s as capable as an average smart device. Unlike most “servitors” (the lobotomized augmented workforce) becoming a servo skull is an honor. You will see a few more servitors later in the series that will freak you out. (Lol ya, don’t be a criminal in 40k.)
@jonttul
@jonttul 3 года назад
There is no human brain in a servoskull, that would make them the same as servitors which they aren't. The skull just acts as a housing for cybernetics and cogitators.
@AG7292
@AG7292 3 года назад
@@jonttul source? I am under the impression no true machines exist in the imperium. I have never read anything about the brains being removed during creation. I know they clean them and stick a cogitator and cybernetics inside, but removing the brain?
@jonttul
@jonttul 3 года назад
@@AG7292 Check any wiki article on servo skulls and you won't find any mention of there being a brain in there. But you can just logically deduce there isn't. Servo skulls are specifically made out of honoured dead servants of the Imperium so they can serve even in death, while servitors are alive, just lobotomized and cyberslaved. There's no living brain in a regular servo skull, though I see there is an exception with Corpus Mymir skull that houses the brain of a psyker at basic activity level, but that's a special case. And what do you mean by true machines? There's plenty of machines without organic parts in the imperium, especially with the Mechanicus. But if you mean AI, the Mechanicus dabbles in plenty of forbidden tech just by veiling it as machine spirits and such. But servo skulls are made for very simple tasks and act more as tools than anything else. They have no need for the intelligence of a human brain guiding them unlike servitors that are made for more complex and dynamic tasks.
@AG7292
@AG7292 3 года назад
@@jonttul I apologize in advance for the long reply lol, my inner nerd couldn't help himself. Lemme tell you why I disagree. I dont think you can logically imply there isnt a brain in servo skulls. I read the wikis, I listen to lore, I read the books and there is no mention of a brain being inside the servo skull, there is also nothing saying the brain is removed. This along with the lack of any real processing power in their tech suggests that a brain would be needed for a servo skull to function. The ability to understand commands, let alone carry them out. You can tell the servo skull to retrieve your hat and it will understand you, find the hat, fly over, grab it, and bring it back. Just the grav tech would require constant adjustment. Basic machinery exist in 40k, but nothing is autonomous. Even the stuff that appears autonomous is actually being controlled by techpriest that are linked to them through cybernetics. Nothing can operate without a “pilot” if you will. The Imperium doesnt do that kind of tech, they are too afraid of it. Secondly, I am of the opinion that not all servitors are servo skulls, but all servo skulls are a type of servitor. I understand that if I am incorrect about servo skulls having brain tissue inside them, they are definitely not servitors, but you know my opinion about that. Thirdly, It doesn't really matter. Like most 40k, what you believe is what is correct. That's why it's so vague. Rarely do we get any hard facts.

The floating head boys are common in the Imperium. They're called servo-skulls, and they're created from the skulls of Imperial servants who have served well. Scribes, bureaucrats, savants, etc. who performed their duties well and reliably, and are then rewarded by being made into thus when they die. They're used for minor tasks, usually of an observational nature, though some are lightly armed, or perform minor surgeries or repairs, or carry out readings in areas deemed too dangerous for base humans.
