Sorry about the tractor.Just be thankful no one got hurt and that it was not in a barn/shed when it caught fire, could have been worse.

Great Video, 10,000 hours she had well paid for the original cost, I agree you guys don't have the time but a collector or hobbist, it's a good deal, I remember we had a Field marshall which we wreaked for scrap a collector bought it and restored as new, thanks for sharing

Sorry for your loss. Like you said good thing it wasn't inside. A guy by Juniata NE lost his shop/machine shed with just about every piece of equipment he owned about a month ago. Don't know how many million dollars were burned.

4440 tractors have a tendency have fires start in the Fuse box just inside the door

My old steiger ran all day. Parked it out front of the house. Had my supper. My oldest son comes flying in the house and says the tractor is on fire. What. Id only parked it there 10mins prior. Burnt the cab off of it.

If i was closer id buy it and fix it. Or keep it for a motor for the other 4440 or 4450s. You could get a cab for 5g. And that burn wasnt very bad. Our 4440 was a ton worse. Melted the rad on it, we fixed it and glad we did. Was still cheaper then buying another.

Fix it....you know one lonely farmer would fix it

Have a 4430 that looks the same from 4 years ago now still sitting in my yard started because of the battery cable that runs under the cab rubbed

I saw a video of a tractor that had burnt up a few years back. Someone in the comments had a great suggestion. Get master shut off switches and install them in all of your tractors. If this was an electrical fire, which it appears it may have been, you can at least cut power to it if you were in or near the tractor when it lit on fire.

that motor still good, I know we bought a 4430 motor in IOwa yrs ago that burned an put in a 4230 it ran great smooth and had tons of power keep that motor

We had a 2940 do the same thing few years ago. Fixed it and runs good till this day. Might be interested in it if wanna sell it

Master shut off switch at the batteries... Disconnects the ground......

Dang. Sorry to see this. I wonder if a battery disconnect switch would of saved it. However Usually never switch them off unless it’s sits for a long time.

Sorry this happened. I don't know why but John Deeres seem to be notorious for catching on fire. Usually it's newer ones though

Birds will build a nest on top of the engine,leading to possible fires. Check daily for birds!

Same thing happened to a farmer in my area in the 80s with a 4440 mfwd less than a year old. Electric failure and the exact same final aspect

A young man like you can make a good bit of spending money parting it out. Probably get a good education as well.

Look up Anderson tractor in Ohio. They buy junk tractors and part them out

That really sucks. Like others said, it’s good that it was outside by itself and not inside. It helps you guys have other tractors similar in size to take up the slack. I won’t tell you what to do with it, but like you said it’s probably not worth the time and money to fix. I’d suggest junk it or sell to a salvage yard
