Hi everyone, thank you for joining me in this all levels gentle yin yoga practice to help your nurture yourself in times of overwhelm. This is a very lazy practice that won't require much effort or energy so that you can focus on filling your own cup and caring for yourself deeply. I'm using a bolster for this practice but you can swap this out with some couch cushions, pillows, blankets or blocks. I want you to feel supported and comfortable throughout this sequence.
What is Yin Yoga? Yin yoga is often called the Yoga of the joints because unlike other styles of yoga, the emphasis is not on the muscles but on the deep connective tissue. Connective tissue is made up of fascia, ligaments and tendons which surround and form your joints. Yin yoga improves the range of motion in your joints and also strengthens them. The results and benefits are more flexibility and greater range of motion and also more stability within your joints.
There are 3 principles of Yin Yoga.
1. Find your edge
2. Be still
3. Hold the pose
Find your edge means respecting your body's limits and not pushing too far and risking injury. Pull back a little bit and as you hold the pose you will be able to go deeper into it without pushing too far or hurting yourself.
Being still means that once you are in the pose it is important to completely relax your muscles so the benefits can get into the connective tissues and joints. Try not to fidget or move or distract yourself, this is a meditative practice. Breathe deeply in and out through the nose.
Holding the pose means that in Yin Yoga a pose can be held for 1-10 minutes depending on the pose performed and on the comfort level of the student.

Thank you! Can I request that you adjust the volume of the sound track when you edit the video? It is very much lower than your videos in the past and we have to turn up the speakers' volume really high.

Thank you, Kassandra. I have been feeling very alone, insecure, scared, and inadequate. During this practice, I released the negativity through my tears, and during the stillness, I remind myself that I am me and that is enough. Oh lord.. cried so much in the beginning, I really needed that release, to just give myself permission to let go and surrender. This yoga session gave me the sudden urge to clean my room and get rid of stuff I had been hoarding for years. Afterwards I now feel super refreshed and I‘m amazed that this put me in the mindset to get on such a big task.

Bless you for this class (and so many more of yours that I love!) I have long covid and no longer have the energy to do any standing yoga. I am limited to floor stretches. On flare days, I can’t even manage any yin class that requires any kind of effort (dragon, sphinx, etc) This class is on my “yin of yin” playlist and I come back to it often. I’d love to see more classes like this that require very minimal effort! Thank you for sharing the gift of your beautiful teaching for free! 💙jess

I am constantly hyper-focused on doing. accomplishing, chasing, and outcomes. This class made me insanely uncomfortable because the principles of yin - NOT chasing, resolving to be still, accepting what IS right now - is so out of my range. But I'm depleted. I can't stop crying today. I think I was SUPPOSED to find this class and do it, so I could take the time to ask myself the question, WHY am I so depleted, and experience what it's like to JUST BE. This was really, really challenging. Thank you. Namaste.

Gosh honey, everyone really loved and needed this class...including me. I didn't release through tears but I did breathe into my body and relax my shoulders and neck. This was a beautiful practice. What a wonderful way to end the day. This was the first day of the opening of my daughter's Pumpkin Patch. It was a beautiful experience, beautiful squash, and beautiful people. And it was busy. Thank you so much so often instructors mislabel their practices as relaxing only for the class to be spent mostly in plank. Perhaps plank is very relaxing for some people but for me this is what relaxation feels and looks like!

I totally enjoyed this relaxing Yin practice. Thank you Kassandra for sharing this with us. I find it so hard to allow myself to "do nothing". It was quite hard for me to give myself permission, but I needed to do that today after a busy home chore day. I'll repeat this practice and hopefully it will become more natural to allow myself to relax and have down time 🙏.

love your videos so much, do them everyday, please could I request a class that I am always looking for and wanting but you dont have - a longer, say 30mins stretch video yoga flow (not yin) for all the upper body, neck, shoulders, mid and lower back. always wish there was one! thank you x

Liebe Kassandra, I come from Germany and I found you while searching for a not efforting yoga class. I found you and since then I practiced with you nearly daily. What I like most is your invitation to find an intention for the day or an answer to the question what I need right now. That helps me so much to be in contact with me. I feel very secure with you.
