In this video, we’re going to do the wiring harnesses and finish up that front tire. And there’s always work safe. Have fun and I’ll talk to you soon so long. Jim.

Hello Jim, I am wondering why my 33 inch Snapper RER pushes so easy. Literally with one hand and that is all. The other 28 inch units, I have 2 both really need some muscle to move them. Bearings (bushings)are greased and not binding The 33 one has bicycle handlebars. Where the 28 have a rectangular shaped steering wheel. DO you have any idea Sir ?? Thanks v

Well, right offhand the only thing I can think of is maybe the 33 inch has ball bearings in the fenders instead of bushings or maybe something is different in the differential that allows it to rotate when you’re pushing it without rotating the entire drive train. Jim

What is the wire that goes into the bowl of the carburetor for, my newer one has one and my old one doesn’t. Can you tell me about it. Thanks

Jim, I had a Ford that had a lot of those "one use" Christmas trees. You can use them over again if you have the right tool. I bought one at an auto parts store years ago. I might have been made by Eklind or one of those other aftermarket tool companies. It would not surprise me if that place Menards would carry one. Look for a trim fastener removal tool. Mine was reasonably priced. It looks like a pair of pliers only on the bottom of the tool there is a set of forks that are spring operated.

Hi Jim! I really, REALLY appreciate you and your channel, especially the stuff on Snapper RER's!!! I have a problem with the wiring on my 331411KVE, and the wiring diagram in the manual is either too vague or I'm too dense to understand it! Specifically, something apparently came apart in the wiring a long time ago and it won't shut off with the key ever since. I found a wire that if I ground it out will shut off the motor, but I can't figure out what that wire is supposed to connect to in the harness so it will shut off with the key. I'm not sure if the ignition switch is original or not. It has more than three terminals, which the wiring diagram seems to show. The starter terminal on the switch works as it should and starts the engine and the battery charges. The third wire to the ignition switch is connected to a terminal that does doesn't seem to have any juice with the switch in any position, but the engine runs with it that way anyway. I tried connecting that wire to a terminal that was hot with the key on, but then there was no spark. Can you tell me where that third wire from the ignition switch is supposed to connect to the engine? My engine has a charging regulator, but I can't see that on the wiring diagram; not that it matters, but my way of reading wiring diagrams includes a process of elimination, which doesn't help much if everything is not there! Thanks a whole bunch for any help you can give me! I have great admiration for guys who selflessly help out their fellow humans just because! Arvin

On your engine where your throttle cable hooks to there is a stud sticking out they referred to as the magneto shorting block the wire coming from your ignition switch marked. M should be connected to that stud that should kill the engine when you shut off the key and let me know if it works.

Did your inner dust cap have a rubber or fiber washer in it? I put sealed bearings in my front wheels. and packed the space between with grease . Guess we will see if that is a good or bad thing after a while.

The dust caps on the inside of the front tires have a felt seal with two steel washers for the bearings to run up against, and one washer on the outside. Jim

Morning ,Jim My question is can the seat switch be bypassed so I use a seat not Snapper. Also you have a recomendation on seat repkacement as the Snapper one is 200.00 plus? Thanks recommendation

@jimjackson9381 5 месяцев назад
Yes, you can disable the seat switch to replace a non-snapper seat, but it could either be a normally open or normally closed switch typically they have a normally open switch so when you sit on it, it closes the contact. It all depends on how it’s wired would start out by just unplugging to switch and see if it starts if it doesn’t then stick a paperclip in the switch to make the connection and try to start it, if it does start, then you can simply cut the plug off the end and wire not the two wires together. But a seat switch is extremely important. I had a good friend of mine. That didn’t know he had a breathing issue from lung cancer was out mowing with his snapper and luckily when you lift your feet up the blades stops, he was in the process of turning when he passed out and fell off the machine Wife found him with the machine going around and around him just something to think about. Dennis, If your original seat isn’t completely shot, you might look on a popular auction site for some covers. I have purchased a couple that fit well and have the snapper logo molded into the rubber. At first glance you wouldn’t know that it’s not a new oem seat.

Good morning Jim , I have two old Lawnboy push mowers , I can order Lawnboy 2 cycle oil from Amazon, eBay etc; but can I use another brand of 2 cycle oil that I can purchase locally that would be just as good quality ? Thanks.

I don’t know I know my father-in-law has a lawn boy I would have to look around and see if he has any lawn board oil or if he just uses standard two cycle oil, and I’ll let you know. Jim

I understand lawnboy 2 cycle oil is a TCW-3 Ashless oil. Like what’s used for outboard marine engines and dirt bikes. It’s a relatively low RPM, lower temperature running motor, so it does better with that vs chainsaw and trimmer 2-cycle oils. Generally the most significant factor in longevity/performance is to use as fresh fuel as possible and not mix up a bunch to let sit for months. Ya know how it is BobTheOilGuy is a website that has a ton of information on oils if one’s interested going down that rabbit hole. Lolz. Hope this helps

Jim do you have a video where you are assembling the linkages (cables and arms ) in the rear section. I took photos but lost them all in a phone issue.

Good tips about protecting the wiring at those problematic areas. On my Snappers, those square holes on either side of the battery box and wiring nest had 3/16” x1/2” carriage bolts. That’s a bit of an odd size carriage bolt to find locally, but if you can’t find them locally, you can get them and the wing nuts from Bolt Depot.

I have never heard of ( Bolt Depot ) is that a website or a local store in your area? If so, what area do you live in and do they have a phone number? I can call them I would appreciate that. Maybe a address and phone number thanks. Jim.

Bolt Depot, McMaster-carr and Grainger all are awesome places in the US to check for any type of bolt one can imagine.
