This time we found even more cool stuff! There is at least one thing in here you can't even buy anymore, it was taken off the shelves in 1975 due to health concerns.

I think the quality stamps magazine was actually a catalog. Probably for green stamps or one of the others. You used to get them at the grocery store, so many stamps per dollar amount or something like that. Then you could cash them in for household items. I love that you guys get so in depth and really show us the stuff in the houses. I want to see more than just the architecture. The items are what give me the warm fuzzies. I get nostalgic (I remember most of the items in this house). I also love that you actually show us the pictures of the people. It gives me more of a sense of connection to the house and it’s owners. The only thing I can really critique is the prescription medicine. I don’t think it would have hurt to let us see the label, I doubt that person is still alive.

the Stanley broom...Stanley Home Products. the old nightgown looked like a ladies slip. the Sears logo thing is a shoe horn....omg :). That green can is a flower vase. 1976, that's super old. I'm dying here..lol. you should be plugged in with some of us old people, we can tell you what this stuff is. The old Zenith thing probably is not a speaker but a stereo, lift the top! Emmerson would be a speaker. Some of the old drinking glasses, the ones with the smoked bottoms were often given out at gas stations, buy so much gas and get a glass.

The hair from the hospital was hair that was shaved from someone’s head prior to surgery. The nurses probably sent it as a keepsake. In 1973 the operating room nurses saved my daughter’s hair they shaved before surgery and gave it to me. I still have it.

Thank you for your curious nature and interest in old things If you do happen to go back to that place will you show me the women's clothing hanging in that closet thing or if you ever run into other places you feel safe enough to show what kind of clothes are in closets and such I would love to see. Spray paint (and other products) were pre- 1974. no SKU's (bar codes) It started about then. Also important are the cans etc. labeled in oz."s.without the ml. milliliters. The Stanley broom was cool. Stanley products were sold door to door until 1970. The cotton swabs and oil o- sol etc. - town with no zip code = pre 1967. The hair was probably a death memento.( get well card?). And - "Taking" that stuff is not like stealing - you'd be "rescuing". These places are a lightening strike or vandal's match away from destruction. If you feel guilty - sell the stuff and donate the funds to some historical society. Great camera work by Bekah as usual. I'm new to your videos, thanks for going back to this house. I didn't see the first one.
@leandavm8626
@leandavm8626 7 лет назад
I totally agree...it's not boarded up, doesn't have do not enter signs or trespassers prosecuted. If you're prepared to go to the trouble of rescuing/saving it then you're doing the hard work to preserve part of history. Most people regard it as worthless junk. I hope you 'rescued' that amazing avocado green vase....worth about $150-200 Au. I looked through an old suburban house shed and collected old bottles & tubes & an old bakelite phone. The next day the bulldozers came in. My brother has those tubes & bottles displayed in his games room & visitors are fascinated by them. Kids are stunned that people used a phone like that too. I, too, think the hair swatch is a death memento.

The magazine slide projector is exactly that. Pictures are made and made into slides from a 35 mm camera and then you would have these slide in a box like that , load it onto a slot in a slide projector, just like you would load a magazine of CDs and the light from the projector along with it magnifier lens would project it onto a big white screen and everyone would be able to enjoy the slides. You could also have slides made into photos even if they were 50 years old and they would look like you shot them yesterday. Kodak came out with a "Carousel" slide projector and your could watch more. May schools/universities used these as well to show a photo of something just like in Microsoft in Power Point your professor showed you "slides" he had made up on the computer only these were photographs that you took yourself. I strongly suggest in a situation like this where you are going through "trash" that you rescue it for the knowledge of others, otherwise it is lost to history. Even old coins can be used to teach history and they are quite collectible. I don't think anyone would consider that stealing. It will be someday incinerated and what good does that do?

Since I have started watching your videos, I have discovered, I am not OLD....I am VINTAGE. LOL I just saw the dancer(Cuban?) on the board. I started laughing because we used to make those in Art Class when I was in JR.High (1964). I made my mom a set of parrots for Christmas. You glued black strings on the outline of whatever, then put glue on the inside of what the string is outlining....and sprinkle in course, colored sand.

The vintage fire king tea cup with the gold rim is worth about $5.00 and is from the 1960's. A little FYI fun fact: Anchor Hocking Glass Corp. of Lancaster, Ohio, began producing low-cost, ovenproof, borosilicate low-expansion glass dinnerware marked “FIRE-KING” in 1942. Production ran through 1976, creating a plentiful supply of affordable table and oven wares for households all over the country. It could be bought in sets or as single pieces; Fire-King items were often given away as grocery store premiums inside packages of pantry and cleaning supplies.

It is such a shame you aren't allowed to remove some of that stuff, much of it is collectable even though it looks like trash to us. The sealed envelopes, back in the day we could send a card will less postage if there was no personal message inside and we just tucked the envelope flap inside instead of sealing. The wages were probably for a week of being a waiter or waitress. Even then they were expecting tips to help out. Minimum wage would have been $2 or maybe a few cents over that per hour.

Exactly right. I had one of these up until 2007 that I had grown up with. My dad showed me how to maintain the elements that sat down in the water. Made new seals for it and replaced the cord on it. used until it was knocked off a shelf and broke. It was an excellent humidifier for winter months. I flipped when Rick picked it up. I knew what it was instantly.

Forgot the quilt - it was on floor where Rick was checking out the old greeting cards. Great job & such a trip down memory lane . I used a lot of those old products in the late 60s - early 70s. (Bet you listen to Mercy Me ! ? ! ? )

Really cool stuff! It's like you went back in time. You guys should be careful inhaling all those moldy, dusty particles. I love looking at items from the past. Do more videos on places that have historical items.

Those old table top record players are nice, reminds me of the ones you see in the old Tom and Jerry cartoons. I bet VWestlife would be interested in seeing these.

He's big on vintage electronics such as computers and sound systems, some of the things he shows on his channel are quite interesting and one thing he seems to be into are turntables. I bet if he watched this video he might be able to give some insight on the ones you found.

Griffin Shoe wax polish in that vintage can goes for $3.25 on EBay. It was started back in 1890. It used to cost a nickel a can.

I think the Quality Stamp book. Is like Gold Bond Stamps and Green Stamps. 60's and 70's. You save them up when you buy grocery's. The cashier gives you these stamps depending on the amount you spend. You have a book to put them in. You fill up the books and go to the store and turn the books in for the amount you need for the product you get. My mom saved Gold Bond Stamps and my Grandmother saved Green Stamps. I bet this is the same thing. I still have my TV Trays that I got with my mom back in the 70's.

I dtill have my TV Trays I got way back in the early 70's. They were with the Gold Bond Stamps. My Grandmother had alot of Green Stamps when she passes. Found them in the drawer. My Mom said she saved them alot and got things. But we could not use them since those were no longer.

My husband's wedding ring was courtesy of S&H Green Stamps! I saved up 29 books of stamps to get it in 1971 (we married in 1970). He still wears that silver ring today and it looks as good as it did in 1971!

I'm a good decade older than Rick, yet those kinds of stamps were even before MY time. My mom certainly never told me about them or recalled participating in that program, though she probably did. My parents were married in 1966 so they would've been old enough to collect those stamps and redeem them for items. I wonder how many items around the house were from collecting stamps. I wish my parents were still alive so I could ask them.
