At one point in my life...My F-4 could not out turn a MiG...But l sure had the speed over it...Back in 1968....So when l see a MiG l see something a little different than most people do....l am 77 years old.....Thanks very much my friend...Super good Camera Shots...!!
@@-Unknown-25 There's an interesting documentary of the Romanian and US pilots during WWII, called Knights of the sky: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W3dNve4yGCc.html
Beauty won't win a war mate...by simply being patriotic and say that a wooden spoon can outmanoeuvre a rapier won't save yer but. Russians are at yer border with hundreds of sukhoi and MIGs and you choose to throw stones .... What you'll do mate try to sneeze at them? Throw sticks? Geez ....Try to step up yet efforts and see the world spinning don't live in a yesterday world...sure mig 21 15 and 19 good airplanes perhaps in Vietnam war times not in current situations. You can't buy a Dacia and put a Phillips surround sound and then, pretend it's a Lamborghini..because it's still a Dacia breaks down when you break a wind in the car....How many MiG 21 plow the Romanian country side ...dozens ....better use them for the agriculture feed the starving elderly in Romania and invest and buy something for for purpose to defend your country when the proverbial poo hits the fan.....
When I was deployed to Bosnia, myself and a couple of other soldiers walked through an abandoned airbase which had two MiG-21s. One was inside a hanger and was in relatively good job. The other was parked outside and showed it. What an amazing aircraft, still flying today!
Yep even after 60 years in service people still use them which I can't blame because it's so deadly during combat super agile and very fast its one of my absolute favorite fighter jets
@@mrcoolepikkman6397 , deadly during combat ? you must be joking !!! and i think you are ! This piece of crap doesn't stand a chance compared with today's technology ! when a mig will win a fight against a gripen, rafale, eurofighter typhoon , F-15, F-16, F-18, F-22, F-35 , or a Sukhoi , then i'll say this: you were right, i was wrong. But until then, let's hope it doesn't come to that. Ever! we and other countries that has mig-21 on their air force, why do you think we call them the "flying coffin" ?.......
@@gheoman a military it's formed by combined branches like Army, Air Force, Navy and Special Forces, so you are the on in the wrong here. Military is the term for an overall defense department, the Army is the land forces branch.
@@theterrobear2716 well in Romania we have it different. Romanian Army(Armata Romana) is composed by Terrestrial Forces(Fortele Terestre), Aerial Forces(Fortele Aeriene) and Naval Forces(Fortele Navale). And other forces also. Peace!
Mig 21 fucked American pilots in the ass in the Vietnam war but usa will never accept it. All the American planes from that era are rotting in a museum but the mig 21 is still being used in combat today, it is the ak 47 of planes and western planes are like a jammed m16
@@abhishekpawar5126 Hate to burst your bubbles but MiG-21 were so rare in Vietnam due do the MiG-21 being a recently new jet. Most of the MiGs the US fought against were the 17 and 19. MiG-17 was an updated MiG-15 with better maneuverability and handling controls. MiG-19 was a MiG-17 designed to use missiles and rockets, as well as being the first Russian twin jet fighter that could engage in Mach 1 battles. Russia was hesitant to give the Vietnamese the 21 because of fear one would crash and be taken by US forces to examine. When Vietnam did get their 21, they only got around 12, and were strictly under order to not engage in dogfight. Their role were simply to be interceptors against the US bomber and fighter bomber fleet bombing Hanoi. The pilots in the new 21 weren't even train to use the reversed engineered Atoll missile for lock on and heat seeking. They instead fired them like unguided rockets and hoped that the US bombers would run into them. Also, there was a special operation where F-4 Phantoms disguised themselves as F-105 to lure out over 20 MiG-21s to engage. The operation ended with the majority of the MiG-21s being shot down for no F-4 Phantom loss. Vietnam would never again use the MiG-21 to engage in interception unless they knew for sure that it was a bomber formation with no fighter escorts. That operation costs Vietnam over 80% of its MiG-21s it received from Russia.
@@WatcherMovie008 MiG-21's deliveries end out outnumbering those of MiG-17's by the war's end (roughly 270 vs 240). The total ammount of J-6 (all VPAF MiG-19's were actually chinese J-6's) was around 70 to 100 planes. The engagement you describe was Operation Bolo, which was indeed very succesfull and along with a later ambush a few days later in which two MiG-21's were downed forced the VPAF to ground its MiG-21's for four months. What it didn't do however was shooting down "the majority/80% VPAF MiG-21's", the USAF claimed 7 (roughly a third) while the VPAF record reported five losses (documented well enough that even the serial number of the planes lost is known), and more critically, all pilots managed to eject safely. In the end of the day, and given their limited supplies and somewhat rushed training the VPAF did pretty damn well, they reported losing around 130 planes in combat while USN+USAF+Marines admit the lost of 90 to 110 planes in air combat, which is some of the worst (if not the worst) exchange ratios the US combined airservice has ever had.
Saw several of these take off for the first time in person today, and wow.... it's like a rocket with steering. Reminded me of old American muscle cars! Much respect.
Absolutely gorgeous airplanes. Shame that more MiG-21 operators didn’t avail themselves of the chance to upgrade their planes the way the Indians and Romanians did. With modern avionics and weapons these old warriors can still hold their own. Not many other aircraft can make that claim.
I would imagine that they rarely are an economically reasonable solution, since there are plenty of jets of later generations available that top militaries get rid of that are probably going to break down less than a plane this old.
Probably the last & most advanced version of the MiG 21, which is the MiG 21 Bison, a 3.5 generation fighter jet will finally be retired by the end of 2025 from the Indian Air Force. The, Indian Air Force first inducted MiG 21,s in 1961, later under a licence agreement produced locally almost 850 to 900 MiG 21,s of atleast 7-8 different variants. The Bisons which were a heavily upgraded version the MiG 21 BIS version were inducted between 1996 & 2003. 2025 will be their final swansong.
Să vii cât m-ai repede pentru că în curând se vor înlocui toate cu F-16 apoi F 35. Personal aș fi optat pt SU-35 combinat cu SU 57 👈👌💪 Noroc și sănătate. La revedere
Legendary, tiny, agile and with the odds stacked on its side in an slightly uneven war space if well flown it can still kick some ass of its more modern counterparts. By the way, after soooooo many years still an extremely beautiful legend!!!.
The MiG-21 is my favorite aircraft. Maybe not as fast as the Eagle but it's gonna sneak up on them enemy jets real quiet-like and put a heat seeker in their tail pipes. My neighbor is an old F-4 Phantom pilot and he said he fought one in Vietnam but it got away. He had his share of close calls and narrow escapes from MiGs. He even test flew the then-new F-4 Phantom supersonic at just 10 feet above the ocean, as per orders. I keep telling him to write a book These are my 3 favorite aviation books: - Her Majesty's Top Gun by Sharkey Ward - F-15 Eagle Units in Combat by Steve Davies - Great Fighter Jets of the Galaxy 1 by Tim Gibson
Romania has also around 20 of F-16 as jet fighters, but our needs are to be at least 48 as them in number , after that MiG-21 LanceR will be pensioned here...until then MiG 21 still patrol on our borders///

Can these combat against the newer models? Because we want to buy 20-30 of them and send them to Poland to be rearmed and ready for war, and sent to Ukraine since they're affordable, and I can actually buy enough to hopefully make a difference.
