No it's not, in fact it's quite an average airplane very slow when fully loaded. But sweden has good marketing. The gripen cannot beat the Su-35 or any top end air superiority airplane.
@Prabhudutt Bisoi we have many things to put down when Brazil choose the Gripen Jet. We´re going to build it here what makes the costs go down, so we will learn how to do it producing more with less. Payload capability is nothing when you see better and has more number. France has long story selling us trash and USA would not give the main weapon code. Also our pilot wil have more flight time than your what can make the difference in a battle. What is Tejas? A kind of flight test garbage?
And people say Gripens are crap... What I personally see here, however, is an indication this could be one of the best fighters in the world (if not the best, especially considering the cost).
That was excellent footage of an amazing and beautiful aircraft. The pilot put on a great performance that I am sure many will remember for a very long time. 👍
@@steevoy9966 The Gripen E range with external tanks is 4000 km, enough to cross Canada from East to West coast without refuelling. The F35A is limited to 2,200 km, and is also slower. But even more important is the cost / benefit. Canada could buy 4 Gripens for the price of 1 F35, and the operating cost is a tiny fraction of the F35A. So more could be based around the country, instead of having to fly so far to respond to threats. And they can easily operate from highways too.
@ The computure limits your movement so you can jank it as hard as you like and it's still gonna pull 9G max. He is a good pilot but this is nothing new when it comes to the Gripen.
Very nice Display! Good filming and nice flying. It is very special to see Gripen in this mountain region. We dont have much of this type of nature in Sweden so it is nice to see howe it works in this type of nature. Good Work! And for all of you who think this is a medioker fighter jet, just remember that Sweden has approx 10 million inhabitants, and USA have approx 320 million . Just saying! Nice Work!
Wunderschöne Nahaufnahmen, Olli! Excellent! Die Saab Gripen ist mittlerweile einer meiner Favoriten! Alle Daumen hoch und dir noch ein schönes Wochenende, Volker :-)
A highly remarkable war plane, and good looking too, whichever country that bought it had definitely made a brilliant choice that will serve their air force well in decades to come
There are only a few channels here, where we can enjoy very high quality footages like this... and KNIGHT FLY VIDEO is definately one of them... so my mandatory is to say, go on like this way what you do, and a big THANK YOU !!! My best regards, Frank
As a Swede i must agree ! It seems like the Swedish Airforce pilots have more restrictions when they are doing their displays. Maybe they don`t want the full potential of Gripen shown to future oponents. You must correct me if i am totally wrong.
@@hakanpersson6524 I tend to agree this display was more lively, but I think the Swedish pilots look more precise and coordinated. Look at their 4-point rolls for example.
amazing video, remember seeing the Hungarian Gripen at RIAT a couple of years ago doing the dump and burn. What camera do you use by the way, I'm thinking of upgrading mine.
Also, Gripens could be ideal fighter jets that can be converted into UCAVs. Removing the life-support systems would allow Gripens to fly further and at the same time deliver death to any hostiles.
A beautiful & yet intimidating fighter jet: The video is impressive too!! I've done quite a lot of video for weddings and sporting events etc, with good feedback. Done three airshows - FAIL!! This is a very fine video. The Swedes feel safer, I guess...
It is not faster than any other 4+ gen regardless you check with loadout or without loadout. It is hard to compare the price because most of Gripen customers bought and operates only a very few airframes, a part of them leased and only a fraction of the capabilities of the Gripen C is exploited. In know only the values of Hungary and the USAF operates cheaper their F-16s (~20k USD/FH) than if we count all expenditures and we divide with FH or Gripen fleet. But are lots of factors why this can happen. For ex. exchange rates of different currencies... Rafale has two engines with is a very huge cost factor.
@@molnibalage83 You can find the numbers from the Swedish airforce and it is about 4,7k USD/FH for the C/D version. Well below 20k USD/FH. Might of course be more expensive to buy (with no other trade offsets) but it really is the cheapest fully modern fighter out there to operate and maintain. Normally the purchase price is less than 10% of the total costs for having an aircraft serviced during it's lifspan...Hence the 39 is a really "cheap" fighter jet.
Awesome. Relatively cheaper than the other 4th or 4.5 generation jet fighters, low operational costs, quick deployment, good weapon technology, high maneuverability. The Gripen is the best choice to win air superiority in term of air defense.
Why it is the best choice? Many 4+(+) fighter have in their config much higher combat capability. For ex. 0 Gripen C/D has AESA radar which is crucial especially if you do not have AWACS because its very quick scan rate. None of the C/D Gripen have MAWS. The wing fuel tanks limits it even ASF weapon qty. Yes, Gripen can be a good choice for some countries but calling it best without any remarks is simply funny. Comparing to an F-15SA the Gripen C/D in most of areas can be called outdated of simply inferior. Of course an F-15SA is much more expensive but it is in a different category...
@@molnibalage83 The C/D version have different radar warning systems but no IR missile warning system. Otherwise an extensive EW suite. E/F version will have that and more. Wing fuel tanks take up space. That is true. Thats why the 39 have emphasis on using improvised runways and short turnaround times. It was never supposed to fly to the target for hours and drop a paveway and fly all the way home. It's supposed to go where the action is and stay in the area or close by. That is why stealth was deemed to be impractical to maintain in field conditions and thus excluded from the design. The C/D version can use the radar in a way that makes it have some advantages like the AESA. One aircraft can fly at a safe distance and use the radar while relaying that information and target data to other aircrafts that fly radar silent to get into position for a kill. Nice trick if I must say. Is the F-15SA good? Of course it is. It's super! Better than two 39 C/D? No I don't think so... And there we have the advantage with the 39's design. Very capable at a "modest" price, very low operational costs and good mission avaibility.
Since the Flanker was the thought main air-to-air target of Gripen A, what you said was one of the design minimum targets when Gripen A was designed in the 80’s. The version in the video is the improved C version.
Gone a long way since it fell down in Stockholm 1993. I was there witnessing with daughter in baby carriage. She is now mother of her own child so time passes.
@@johnraina4828 I don't know if it actually has but at least the gun works. The F-35 has been a pathetic comedy of errors up to this point. It's as if Lockheed-Martin has never designed a plane before.
@@AvroBellow Never heard claims of head to head. But it placed second in total redflag score in 2012, just behind the F-22. You also don´t have much use for your gun beyond visual range ;)

Nope, Brazil won't get this! This is the old Gripen C, but I wonder if some show artificial performance limitations has been lifted now that Gripen E/F is near... That is the planes Brazil will get!
I love this fighter and I pray my government is smart enough to see that it is the better aircraft and fits Canada's needs far better then the yankee f35 and though I do love the F18 as it's been around since I was a boy the Jas 39 Gripen E is the better choice!
