With a fairlead angled downwards that far, I see friction being created between the line and the top of the fairlead. One solution would be the hybrid roller fairlead from Hawse Pro.
My badland control box got really tight with the front plastic grill, and can’t push down the front grill, not sure if have this kind of issue. Very helpful video, nicely done!
Well considering that I've winched with it so many times with no issues, I love it. It's a champ. And on the runner we were even able to use it the first week (check pt 2 for that recap). Works great! Only issue I've had is the hook lost its luster and has some rusting but that's also because I live on the beach. The fair lead could be better also. Got scuffed up easily with the red rubber found at the end of the line. I want to upgrade both to Factor55 or another highly rated one.
Are you able to use the black OEM skid plate with this bumper? Not the TRD skid plate, but the other. Also, would it be realistic to think you could access the free spool lever from the holes in the front of the bumper if using a smaller winch? Or does that not seem to be a viable option. Any help is appreciated. Great video!
The OEM skid plate wouldn't go back on. I discarded it. Will have to find the TRD one. As far as a smaller winch, not sure. I DO have to figure out another way to access that winch spool though because right now I have to take the cover off under the hood to get my hand down there to turn it.
I would rather keep it on. Less prep and finish work. But for those that really want an open space, go for it but you're gonna have to put it back on anyway before you lift the bumper in place.
Hmmmmm that would be dope! Because yeah it's TOUGH to get in there. I'm considering making a clean hole on the cover under the hood so I can just reach down cuz either way you'll have to take the cover off even with a lever to get to that spool
So Asia... I saw the other video that your wife did the recovery of the other truck and that was with this winch... so do you still recommend the winch? Any concerns?
I was set on a C4 bumper before seeing this video. The CBI bumper looks solid, love the look. Would the bull bar block an anytime front camera? Great install and video!
Kinda why I went this way because the bull bar SEEMS higher on this than C4. I LOVE the C4 and it was what I wanted originally but the problem is that you have to get it powder coated (an extra step)...and I believe they offer that service but at a cost
Can’t you just get the final adjustment brackets bolted and almost tightened all the way when you mount the bumper? That way they are still loose allowing you to make final adjustments only needing a few turns.
😂😂😂 Sooooo that was something I learned AFTER the fact. I followed CBIs instruction video and they said put it on after so I was like ok maybe it gets in the way if I pre mount it. Dude EVERY video I watched they put it on after. So that's how I did it. But then after it was put on I was like "whyyyy didn't I just put it on already??" Cuz you really you can just pull the plastic bumper outwards a bit as you lift this bumper into place. But hey, it's done lol
@@BaptismOverland I am in the final stages of mounting my bumper and I bit the bullet and took off the plastic front end. After watching EVERY video online it dawned on me after seeing people struggling with these brackets (and the fact that I am in the middle of it). You don't know what you don't know. I enjoy your videos so keep them coming!
Love it! The only con is that you can't reach the winch spool from the front. They give you access points but I think that only works for some winches- not the Badland. You'll see other videos, they have to access it by popping the hood and removing the plastic cover. Which sucks during a recovery that we have to pop the hood just to get the winch working.
