4th Gen Ram ABS Module successfully repaired! Cheap fix to annoying problem 

If you remove the motor only, no. If you remove the entire hcu and disconnect brake lines, yes.

Once you get the motor out of the casing you will see a brass raceway or guide on both sides with brushes that ride in them. On either side of the guides are a plastic ripple that is mushroomed over to secure the metal guide to the motor back plate. You will drill these out and replace with small screws and a nut. Ensure you put some loctite on the nut and the screw inserted from the outside to the inside. Hope this helps. I will post a more in depth video shortly if needed. Fix is holding up well though.

So are we securing the motor to the casing? Is that the problem?

@@TheWildyoder no the issue is the brushes get stuck in the guides which causes the motor not to work. You are securing the guides back to the motor backing plate with screws and then pushing the assembly back into the case for reinstallation to the HCU.

When I did this both of my brushes were stuck in the guides, I didn't remove the guides from the motor but instead used the tiny diamond bit in my Dremel kit to grind off the little bridge on the brush guide then spread the brush guide with a flat screwdriver to free up the brushes. I'm going to consider this a permanent repair, the only time that motor operates is when the ABS system is actually operating during a emergency braking incident or slick road situation.

@@andrewbradley7815 it wasn't bad, just use a set of thin feeler gauges and slip the motor back in its spot. Feeler gauges are needed to keep the plunger on either side out of the way while shaft is inserted into place.

@@MKSPerformanceOffroad I just performed the reinstall. That's a whole RU-vid episode itself.

@@SOLmachineandmfg first time I did it on the truck and had an extra set of hands. Second time removed from truck and did it on bench then bled the brakes. Those little plunger in there can and will give you a run for your money.
