It’s so nice seeing another mom keeping it simple for her kids. We love Evan Moor spelling in this house too! I love how you consistently keep in mind that curriculum is just a tool for us to use. I have to keep reminding myself that we don’t have to do every single part of every single lesson in every single book. We can make it our own.

We’re using all the curriculums but teaching textbook for math and I also have a 4th grader! I’m glad we’re not the only ones that pick and choose from level 3 TGTB

I have a 4th grader and a 9th grader this year! We are using level 3 TGTB also. Hope y’all have a wonderful year! I want to use Gather Round on 1-2 units but I have no clue what 😆

We are using Evan Moore spelling this year too! I'm using it with my 4th grade twins and my 6th graders because they all struggle with spelling. My hope is that doing spelling together with everyone will help.

I feel like you and I are like soul sisters. Raising boys. Training them up. We school the same way. I am so glad you are in this space. My guys are a little older than your guys however the similarities and your heart behind your school sings to my soul!!

I really really don't like "grades". But, I have a 9/10 year old for the upcoming school year (roughly 4th grade). We are using for math: Ray's new Arithmetic series (book #2) for her with some worksheets from "plain not so plain" curriculum by Amy Maryon Language Arts will be covered through our C.C co-op. They are using an IEW writing book with their own program. It will be our first "Essentials " year (as it is called). Reading is assigned (we talked about what she wanted & what I wanted. It was a great collaboration. So, we have things like "Anne of Green Gables") and also her own picks. We talk about our books and sometimes write about them. Anyway, that is her individual subjects. Thanks for sharing!!! It is a joy to see what others are doing and just to enjoy the new school year with another mama across the internet 😁👍

Not for my 4th grader! Possibly next year though! We do have Bible Heroes from IEW we will use here and there but not as our main piece for 4th grade! We have a few other things I was wanting to focus on with my youngest this year. 😊

I saw you answered down below…do you feel that TGTB is good for writing - it’s where we are struggling, but the b&w of FIG and IEW turns her off just by sight.

I have a severely dyslexic child and his language arts is lower and would put him at what he calls baby level. So I haven't looked into them because I thought I had to get a lower level that he would hate.

@Child of the King tried them both. All about reading was too many parts and Treasure Hunt was too repetitive. Hoping to get him in to a special tutor. Just need an open spot
