We begin all tire tests with correct mounting and balancing procedures. With these Cooper AT3 XLT tires, the goal is maximum wear and performance. This includes wheel alignment, proper tire pressures, precision balancing and periodic rotation.

I just put a set of these in 255/70r16 on my 2000 Explorer with 16x8 wheels. These tires are incredibly smooth compared to my old Grabber AT2’s. You can barely feel the road while accelerating when they’re inflated to 35 psi. It’s similar to a vehicle with coil-overs, even though I’m running leveling keys in the front that have cranked the torsion bars up one inch. They’re a night and day difference in ride quality.

Useful feedback and comments for those considering the AT3 XLT tires...Thanks!

68 pounds is very light for a 37” tire. I love these tires.

That's the tire alone. Add the aftermarket wheels, and each wheel/tire assembly is around 102 pounds with my 8-lug Raceline rims.

@@RoadReadywithMosesLudel that’s not bad at all. I have them on my factory 17x8 polished wheels.

We have similar wheel/tire setups...Weight is especially not bad when I rotate the tires with a Gaither/Winntec Wheel Dolly...very manageable!

I opted for the cooper E rated, at3 xlt for my diesel Titan XD, and I’m glad I did. They are grippy, and hold up well for towing a 7k lb trailer.

Tough rubber compound, the AT3 XLT tires have held up very well. Routine rotations, tire pressure adjusted for loads and alignment kept on spec, these tires will last.

Tried to track these down in canada. Almost impossible in 37”. At 68lbs they are the same weight as my 315 Nittos. Curious if they are going well

I very much like the handling, traction and steering control. This past winter, I drove from Nevada to Advance Adapters (Paso Robles, California) in the heaviest snowstorm of the season (early January). Traction and stability were excellent. I used 4WD on snowpack for 43 miles of big rig chain control over Donner Summit. (California only requires 4WD with M+S tires, so no chains.) These tires worked great. The only negative is noise level-there's a lot of it. 37"x12.5" is so broad that it opens up the tread voids, typical for any brand's tires in this size or larger. (These tires look more like a bias ply, though the handling is truly radial.) Noise is much greater than the BFG KO2s I tested in this same size. Cooper's rubber compound aims for mileage/lifespan gains. The trade-offs!

Thank you for the feedback. Surprised they are louder than the ko2! My wifes ko2s are loud on her bronco and my nitto g2’s are much quiter. Im looking to jump from 315 (34.4) to the 37”. Only 2lbs heavier and respectable winter handling is a plus

I would like to know how they compare to the K02s when it comes to road noise? I have around 10K miles on my Ford Raptor with OEM K02s and they are starting to gets some noise. Looking at these Coopers to see if they are quieter or the road.

Noise is tricky. The KO2s on my Ram 3500 4x4 (Quad Cab, single rear wheels) were actually quieter than the AT3 XLTs. This is due to the 37"x12.5"x17" tire size. On the AT3 XLT, the tread voids widen and open up at this diameter, which contributes to noise. At this tire size, the KO2 tread pattern compensates better for larger voids. In a smaller size than 37"x12.5"x17", the AT3 XLT tires would likely be quieter. Tire size and vehicle application contribute to road noise.
