Standard rim height is 10 feet/120 inches. If 53 inches is distance from top of his head to rim, that means he is 67 inches tall, which is 5'7. Only way he is 5'4 is if this rim is 3 inches lower than 10 feet.
@@johns7530 He DOES not have a 50" vertical as stated at the end of the video. The title was clickbait obviously. But if you actually watched the video and read the description you will see that the rim is 9'9", Ty almost hit the foam roller but does not. This is how they theoretically measuring his vertical to be almost 50" But with some more training, it is attainable. Ty is still a freak athlete regardless how you spin it.
20 years ago a 50inch vert wasnt a thing and today its achievable. There will always be someone out there who is faster and stronger. Records are there to be broken.
@@Ivan-ss3yo neither Wilt or Michael had a vert that high, there is zero real evidence. Also no high jumper has a 50 inch vertical. A true 50 inch max vertical is incredibly rare.
In high school I was thrilled about grabbing the rim at 5'8". This is absolutely incredible, insane talent, 2" higher than Jordan's vertical, could be NFL wide receiver, who's intercepting a pass that's 12' high?
You took the words out of my mouth at the end of the video. He said "first try" and I'm like you don't know what a 50" vert is. How few athletes in human history ever have it and how you have to train specifically for it. Hopefully you're bringing him to camp. Love to see the guy in action.
His ability to jump is awesome, he reminded me of that age...the big problem is for the knees... after each landing over time the effort will accumulate more.
Yeah for some people. I’m pretty sure 90% of people his height can train and eat perfectly yet would never dunk in their whole lives. But of course don’t let statistics tell you you can’t do your goals though, try until proven otherwise.
@@kchuen you will never know unless you try that’s my belief at least! If every person listened when someone told them what they couldn’t do they would never get anywhere
@@jaredweiss3772 yes that’s why I said keep trying until it proves otherwise. But you also have to learn where your talents lie. It’s easy to just see successful cases and say hey see he made it while the same wouldn’t apply to everyone. Having that awareness doesn’t stop people from achieving their goals and having blind faith isn’t the reason those who succeed succeeds either.
actually he has very limited potential. He is a one trick pony-no matter how impressive that trick is-he can jump really, really high. In the era of social media that can be enough ...
I remember when I was younger, I’m 5’6” and was able to dunk but not as easy or jump as high but beyond my friends that was much taller. Great job and God bless
There was a guy in my school we all called "Supa Flea". He was a 5' something dude like that who could elevate like mad. Love seeing small guys get up higher than us big ones.
Advances in vertical jump specific training are producing more leapers today than in previous generations. There were only a handful 20-30 years ago, but now...
I’m 5.4 too and I’m trying to reach that bounce and it’s very hard not imposible but take lots of work ain’t for free you have to earned . Congrats bro
Mostly genetics. Some are born with more fast twitch muscle fibers. It’s impossible to add more with training. You can only improve the ones you already have.
@@junsinator971 Actually fast twitch fibers don't even matter that much. Some fibers are a certain type and always will be but a large percentage of your fibers are actually changable. You can turn slow twitch into fast twitch (a sizeable percentage of them anyway). A study was conducted that found that the only difference between fiber types is the signal the CNS gives them. Also, beyond that, fibers aren't even the most important thing, your nervous system being able to call enough fibers is. Anyone and everyone can train their CNS to call more fibers and use more strength that they already have by putting max effort into jumps and reps. And even beyond that, even if you have terrible fast twitch genetics, you can also increase your max strength and be a "strength jumper". Muscle fibers only really determine which jump archetype you are. Now that's not to say genetics don't matter at the 50" level but I guarantee you most if not all people can get to 40" or more. It CAN be trained
What do you estimate 5'9 tdub and 6'1 Kevin Kemp golden child max vert at their prime? It's always hard to tell for me bc you can never tell what rims are regulation
Dope 🔥 I feel like him throwing his arms down at the end of his jump was stoping his head from touching the foam piece “ if he had his arms up like he was going for a dunk.. he would’ve clearly head tap the foam 🦾😤
50+ inch hops, with a run up, are and have been doable. Math was a little off in this video. At 64 inches (5' 4") when the top of his head touches 114 inches (9' 6") the vertical is 50 inches. If this rim is 120 inches (10'), this fella was at or above 50 inches with each attempt. No attempt looked greater than 6 inches below the rim. Impressive!
I'm 5'2". First dunked when I was 19. Last dunked at 135lbs. No cell phones when I was younger, but many short people with mad hops... my knees tell the story nowadays. Keep jumping out of the gym bruh. Keep betting people you can snatch a $100 bill off the rim... every short person knows how to get paid by non-believers. Love it young blood.
I'm a girl, I'm 5'4, and about 7" away from the rim. I increased just by stretches, haven't did exercises yet... It seems I get my vertical up fast. But this guy is impressive! I noticed most guys that are 5'4 and dunk aren't super skinny.
Sorry to tell you mam but you probably want dunk the ball ever i mean look at the wnba there are 6 foot woman who cant dunk, men just are wayy more athletic than woman
I have seen 5'5 being able to dunk, but 5'4 bringing head to the rim is first time for me. Imagine him being 6'0 and above. He would be able to bring his head on top of backboard LOL.
Well at least the guy making the video understands, I tell people all the time in my prime I was 5'10 230lbs 38 inch vert standing still 43 off the run at best. And I felt like i was flying. So when I see videos titled 50+inches, I be like stop the madness.
