I've always found the Buddhist base teaching of "Impermanence' to be a guide for me. Change is inevitable: Things grow old and/or change, including yourself. It is to understand where you are in your life and not trying to be 25 years old again and again. Clinging to the dream of youth or a set way of life that has passed will only bring dissatisfaction.
The mind makes everything complicated. We just have to breath and keep coming back to our breath. That´s not complicated, it just takes a whole lot of practice.......LOL.
Please, be more direct. the narrative was so indirect it was hard to follow and take note of the important stuff. Just a constructive critic, I am suscribing to learn more from Chinese culture, as it is very interesting.
For Ur Information Buddha Took Birth In Indian Civilisation Is Buddhism Is Indian Philoshopy. It's Disgusting U Didn't Mention India In Ur Vdos.Don't Mislead People.en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_philosophy
"India conquered and dominated China culturally for 20 centuries without ever having to send a single soldier across her border."- Hu Shih, Chinese Philosopher, Essayist nd Diplomat...
I've considered myself as a Buddhist for a while, even though im from america. Out of most religions that i've been taught about in my life, Buddhism always made the most sense to me. I would really love to visit a Buddhist temple one day and possibly follow some of the practices. I would love to learn more about it. Thanks for the vid :3
Even thought am greek orthodox christian, I believe than these are wise advises and they have many things in common with the sayings of orthodox monks and saints ! I'll try to put them in action, because I want to find my lost inner peace !Thank you Chen, I like you very much and you certainly could be my friend !Budha bless you!
TruthSeeker , no one is claming Buddha, no one can , it's just a misunderstanding spread by foreigners who don't know Sanskrit, who can't speak Sanskrit properly, Siddharth was born in Lumbini , became Buddha in bodh gaya, taught us a way of living, end of story
Why do you care? if you care why don't you protest against Nepali government for oppressing Buddha dharma for centuries and announcing false statement to the world there is only 13% of Buddhists population in Nepal. You are Hindu and many Nepali and Indian Hindu people are bias when it comes down to Buddha dharma. This is coming from Nepali..
Well, no you cannot. The goal of Buddhism is self-annihilation (you find peace by ceasing to exist). The goal of Christianity is fellowship with God (you find peace by surrendering to His will). You cannot do both, I'm afraid. That is why early Christians refused to let a statue of Jesus be placed in the Pantheon of Rome alongside all the other ''gods'. They knew their faith was an inherently exclusive one.
I'm not really sure how people distinguish between a 'philosophy' and a 'religion' when we're talking about comprehensive worldviews. Like I wrote elsewhere, actual Christianity DOES forbid mixing it with other religions, at least not the central tenants. Same thing with Islam.
Thank you for researching and explaining buddhism in a calm and objective way. I really enjoyed the video and learned new basic knowledge. Nice background music btw. Keep on going!
So, my attachment to life is the reason of all the stress I am having. I have to let it go. I've been too busy living, now I can see that I don't need to. It is the first step, it'll push me forward. To be free, I need to let go of life. Didn't know it was that simple. Thanks. See you on the other side.
Really nice video. Unlike 90% of quotes of the Buddha on quote websites, the quotes are actually real. And 4:33 is a picture from my temple! One correction: the word "Buddha" actually originally comes from Pali language. Sanskrit Buddhism came later.
The Chen Dynasty great upload mike I'm starting to meditate each day for an hour no phone no internet nothing digital just a still peaceful mind for an hour keep the great content coming 👍
I discovered your channel a couple of days ago..I of course subscribed and I have been watching so many of your most wonderful videos..much love to you and a great thank you!! ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
I believe that if you can help someone without expecting anything in return or even just making someone smile you can make the world a better place, I don't know if that what Buddha ment but that's my philosophy anyway.
What is the difference between a philosophy and a religion? I'll bet many foreign Buddhists would be surprised to hear you say that their worldview doesn't count as a religion!
Odd that miracles and symbolism would 'pervert' philosophy, provided that the miracles actually happened. Are you certain that Buddha never performed miracles or used symbols?
Are all other religions non-philosophical? Do they not promote a particular way of thinking about life in this world and the next, about the relationship of man to earth and to God? I was under the impression they all did.
Can you please make a video on 墨子(Mò zi) Mozi and 兼愛( jiān'ài) jian ai, universal love? Interestingly he also disagreed with some things on Confucius, such as that he only like a tradition if it was useful. He also reasoned that the ancient people who started traditions were themselves, innovators.
THANKS RU-vid FOR INSPIRATIONAL LESSON FROM BUDDHA 💙🙏🌷. MY FAVORITE QUOTES: **SOMETIMES PEACE✌IS BETTER THAN RIGHT✔. : BUDDHA. **HELP OTHERS EVEN WHEN YOU KNOW THEY WON'T HELP YOU BACK. ACCEPTING BRINGS CHEER. EXPECTING BRINGS TEAR 💧. ACCEPT LIFE THE WAY IT COMES. 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💙🧡💚💜❤💙🧡💚💜❤💙🧡.
If we meditate on something that satisfies our mind, then our mind will not be hungry for other objects. But if we meditate on an object that our mind is not happy with, then our mind will try to find happiness elsewhere and squirm and shift to an object to this happier with. The mind shifting is restless. It hasn’t achieved calmness. It serves us to have technique and artistry in our practice.
If we’d like the mind to have a rest, then we incline the mind towards an object that the mind is happy with. See what object you’re happy with. Some people chant and feel happy.
There seems to be a lot confusion regarding whether Buddha was from India or Nepal. We must remember ancient India was larger than present day India. Ancient Buddhist scriptures say nothing about Nepal, but talk about India as "Jambudivpa". Buddha was born in present day Nepal's Terai area. This area than was part of 6th Century BCE India's political system. In 1760s Nepalese Gorkhas became powerful and in late 1700s they captured many areas from weak Indian kingdoms. After British war British forced Gorkhas to give up many areas they captured like Gorakhpur, large part of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, but allowed Nepal to retain Terai area. After independence India did not claim back those areas. Which is why where Buddha was born today falls into Nepal but not India. But regardless Buddha was from ancient India.
Awesome video thanks. I like your videos, and appreciate your hard work. All your channels that I have subscribed to are top notch, entertaining and interesting! I am reading the info about falun gong from your link in this video. I highly suggest anyone interested in this video give it a looking into. My wife and I watch your beyond science channel regurlarly, please keep up your good work and research. Again much appreciated!
Buddhism is a chinese religion and not an indian one beacause today India doesn't even have a single Buddhist scripture to show to the world. .. 99% of the buddhists live outside india or outside indian subcontinent and are not tied with indic culture like hinduism, jainism and sikhism are. .. Since 1500 years buddhism is separated from indic culture. ..and buddhism is tied more with east asian sinosphere culture ..where chinese buddhism developed as a unique combination of taoism and confucianism. … It doesn't matter where the religion is started what matter is where the religion is flourished. . Christianity is always called a western religion not a middle eastern one …because it mainly flourished in European countries and their culture is tied with it..
When I come across a particularly offensive troll, I always offer compassion to them and point them in the direction of the light switch. Great video !
Honestly this sounds at its core just like what I hear from Christians and catholics in my life... I feel like most religions are more alike than ppl would think
Thanks Mike, this video has taught me many things I thought I knew but, was truly unaware of. Maybe we should all practice or at least study this belief much more closely.
I love vids like this , please make some more about the religions of China ,p.s I use alot of imported Chinese Sandalwood incense (stick and coil) as well as some Joss paper use in my religious practice (Celto-Roman Polytheism)
I have seen small shrines at some Chinese restaurants. They will often have sticks of incense and fruit as part as an offering. Who does these shrines honour ? Can you please explain ?
This are offerings to either their ancestors or "Budai" the fat laughing Buddha which is like the Chinese Santa Claus..."Budai" is not the real Buddha from what I know "Budai" was a Chinese Buddhist monk.
If the shrine is on the ground, then that's for making offerings to the local earth spirit. If the shrine is placed up high, then it's for the deity or deities the restaurant owner worships usually for wealth and protection. These shrines are Taoist in narure, not Buddhist. However, a Chinese home shrine would very likely have both Taoist deities and Buddha or Boddhisatvas.
Some of the shrine mean to be a reminder of our ancestor, so the future generation still know they ancestor, pay respect and commemorate their deeds when they still alived
"5" and "10" are mere representations of the fleeting teachings. You mustn't attach yourself to such trivial numerations. Have peace in yourself and enjoy the video.
Dude Why U Always Talking About Nepali Nepali...Buddha Was Born In Lumbini, Modern Day Nepal...But Earlier Lumbini Was In Kapilavastu Kingdom Of Bharatbarsa /Ancient India...There Was No Nepal Back Then...Gurkhas Captured Lumbini In 18Th Century...Nd Buddha Is A Sanskrit Word...Buddhi Means Knowledge or Intelligence. Buddha Means Who Attained Knowledge or Spiritually Awakend Man...Siddharta Gautama Enlightened In The Land Of India In Bodhgaya, Modern Day Bihar State.U Chinese Got Buddhism From Us Indians But U Gave Us In Return Facist Maoism.U Cannot Separate Buddhism From India Bcz Buddha Was Indian.Make Ur Vdos Correctly, Don't Mislead People...Even Chinese Philosopher Hu Shih Said -"India Conquered nd Dominated China Culturally For 20 Centuries Without Ever Having To Send A Single Soldier Across Her Border"...
Look at this historian gracefully describing about Nepal history. King Prithvi Narayan Shah united all the kingdoms of Nepal which already existed, he didn’t capture anything from anyone. Better focus on your Indian history
@@nandamaharjan2985 Shut Up U MORON.If Ur story colides with Mine then I will Indeed say Whatever I WANT. I know nepal's history very well nd also about Prithvi Narayan Shah. Lumbini was part of Indian Empires until the ISLAMIC INVASION. Later in mid nd late 18th Century nd early 19th Century Gorkhas conquered the TERAI REGION nd made it part of Gorkha Kingdom Or Kingdom of Nepal. Every scholar in the World called Buddha an INDIAN PHILOSOPHER nd BUDDHISM an INDIAN PHILOSOPHIY. EDUCATE urself u MORON.
Hinduism teaches about a soul. After death the spirit of the Hinduist goes to the Brahmin of the university. Christianity teaches about an immortal soul that is the soul of a Christian after the death of God after going to heaven. Other Buddhism teaches about the primordial soul that after death in the nirvana of heaven is the soul of a Buddhist. Each religion teaches that there is an "immortal soul" that is my Self. But Theravada Buddhism does not teach about spirits. My self is not a soul, it is the mental of consciousness that moving and distorting every moment, it is not an immortal thing.
Christianity has extreme similarity to Buddihism, both teach us to live good and not evil on earth. Very pretty, by being humble, kind, transforming to a true human being. And be happy by letting go of all kinds of sins. I love buddha and Jesus Christ. I can not leave anyone of them. Both trained my mind.
@@Vshokri So let’s try and train. Calmness meditation helps the mind gain energy. Meditation that has the stable observer prepares the mind for wisdom development. Once the mind is the stable observer. When mindfulness knows a physical object, it will see that the physical object is known. It’s an object. When mindfulness knows mental objects, all the pleasant, unpleasant, good and bad states are things that are known. Objects and the mind is the knower. There is the mind that knows, and all the objects are circling around a rising and falling, demonstrating the three characteristics for us to see. It isn’t thinking about the three characteristics. He who is still implementing thought and the practice has not upgraded to vipassana yet.
@@Vshokri What do we do regarding samadhi for happiness and calmness? It is for a rest. We need this. It is useful. Speaking about necessity. We don’t require both types of samadhi equally. The stable observer, samadhi is required. Absent of the stable observer, vipassana is not possible. Calmness meditation, however, is useful but not to the point of mandatory. It is useful to bolster and support providing energy for the mind when the mind doesn’t have energy and we attend to a meditation object in no time at all. The mind is busily wandering about. If our mind has energy, it can remain stable without having to hold it that way. Those that come to stay with me here, I have them start their samadhi over again, because out in the world they have incorrect samadhi. For correct samadhi they have to start over.
@@Vshokri If our mindfulness is focused on the work at hand, then we can achieve samatha. But if we work and then we become aware when the mind has strayed off, then we can achieve the type of samadhi that is the stable observer. Once the mind is the stable observer, the knower an awakened one. We see the mind move and the mind is the observer. The body moves and the mind is the one that observes. It will demonstrate the three characteristics for us to see. Oh. This body isn’t really me. This body is under oppression. This body is never stable. The comfort or discomfort of the body and the comfort, discomfort or neutral feeling of the mind are all impermanent, unsatisfactory and non self. They are seen and known and the mind is the seer or the knower. Whatever is seen, it’s easy to see that it isn’t us or ours. It’s easy to see non self. Can you see this mug? This mug is something that we know. We know this mug by seeing it through the eyes. This thing that we see. No one thinks that it is us. That would be crazy. So when the mind is the knower, all the objects it knows will be seen as not us. Just things that are seen or known. The mind is known or seen the mental factors like the happy, unhappy, good and bad states are all known or seen, the body is known or seen. They are all in permanent, unsatisfactory and non-self. This is wisdom development.
You fool Chodali. Vishnu Puran mentions India. India is two one is Indian civilization another is present day Republic of India. Learn to understand the difference between two. Ancient India encompassed present day Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal's Terai and present day India.
