It's so refreshing to hear it is ok to be human! I love that and sure hope that message spreads. I feel like aging looks better than plastic faces any day.
I'm 25 and started getting static wrinkles on my forehead and the 11 pretty early into my 20s. at first i kinda freaked out cuz i didn't think i would start wrinkling so early but I've always been very expressive so it makes sense. i started looking into Botox but now I've been trying to just accept that i got these wrinkles from just being happy and that's ok!! thank you for this video
I live in a very sunny climate and have horrid 11’s , but I am a parent if two women your age. I’ve had Botox on the 11’s and I love it. That said ; I have heard from really good surgeons as well that long term use will cause atrophy. Which looks far worse than wrinkles. I’d be afraid if I were young like you to have prolonged use. They don’t know yet how that will be. Try not to squint and follow her advice on that. You are very young.
I notice a little bit of those wrinkles on so many young people. Even teens sometimes. I don't think it's any kind of premature aging. It's good you're doing your best to accept them and know they're from being happy and expressive!
I’m 23 and I noticed my static forehead wrinkles appeared when I was 19/20. There are studies that show that people who go through prolonged stress can wear that experience on their forehead as young adults/teens. (Think anxiety eyebrows)
As far as sleeping, training oneself to sleep on your back also works. Using a sleep wedge This recommendation was from Angie ( Hot and Flashy) I also use a pillow under my knees Takes a minute to get used to this but still worth it
Thank you for content that doesn’t amplify insecurities or this feeling of ‘needing’ to get something. I’m 33 and many times I get mistaken for being in my early to mid 20’s and recently I went to my derm to ask about an insecurity I had with some genetic fat under my chin. She referred me to someone else and then just casually said I’ll ‘need’ a facelift in about 10 years. She pointed to her own neck as evidence and honestly I didn’t see any need for her to do that. And she shared that insecurity with me. I even told her sometimes I think the little pudge I have is even kind of cute sometimes, I’ve had it all my life and social media made me feel I had to have a crazy jaw but I’m European, it’s not a defect! (The reason I changed my mind is a saw a gorgeous actress who also had a little fat under her chin and I just realized how out of focus I was zeroing in and obsessing over something so minimal) my derm even said she didn’t even notice it until I pointed it out. 🤦♀️ So ladies, derms are humans and sometimes they lose perspective too and forget their own beauty is not dictated by the current fad of extra sharp jawline or whatever the current obsession is. I hope to age gracefully and love my face and naturally take care of it so it looks good. Cosmetic surgery is NOT necessary to look beautiful and I really wish I would have gone to someone who would have emphasized this.
I have the neck pudge too! I've always had it and my mum and brother also have it. I want to lose a little weight which will hopefully reduce it a bit (I don't want to lose weight because of it, just for health) but even when I was a skinny little teenager I still had it. I'm 31 now and I'm definitely not interested in getting procedures done, retinol is enough for me.
Also please be careful and if planning a procedure do your homework on the surgeon! I’ve seen so many botched procedures. Personally the knife is not for me. I will embrace my aging skin & take care of it as best I can.
I'm a man, so I don't care if I have wrinkles. But when I was a kid I used to watch the Jack LaLanne show when I got a chance. It was on during the day so the show was aimed at housewives. Jack had a set of facial exercises to do and you can see them on YT. The exercises did scrunch up (and stretch out) the face, but the idea was to strengthen and tone the underlying facial muscles. So I do it, along with all my other exercises, and my face looks pretty youthful. My intention was never to look younger but, rather, to exercise all my skeletal muscles. It just makes sense.
I love frownies! I've had Botox twice, and yes Botox works better, but these are still a great and cheaper alternative! Like she said, it takes consistency.
I will admit I did get botox at 28 on my forehead to help train me to stop using those muscles. I got it twice and it did help. Today, at almost 40 I barely use those muscles. I'm going to check out the anti-aging pillow. Thank you for the tips!
I have had a static forehead wrinkle since I was 16. I hate it. I'm 35 so I have some natural wrinkles that I actually love. I just hate that one solo deep wrinkle. I've been thinking about botox for a long time. Scared of needles so I'm happy to hear alternatives.
Another option is using hyaluronic acid! It’s transient but it’ll help fill in your wrinkles and look plump 😅 I like the Vichy serum, neutrogena hydro boost, and use a moisturizer with a dewy finish on top (oil based)
Different acids do different things to different people. I don't like HLA because it makes my face look puffy and bloated. HLA is usually best for severely dry aged skin.
@@lilianwal2385 it is a massage tool that I use for the body, from Ashley Black. It is called a face fascia blaster, it grabs the fascia and releases it , in a way that our hands can’t. There are you tube videos for instruction, but it is amazing for really sculpting out the face… I notice , when I don’t do it, it is just a favorite of mine! I always have people shocked when I say that I am 39, everyone thinks I am in my late 20’s and early 30’s
NUFACE! I have very bad 11s and vertical lines all over my brows, deep smile limes, when I’m consistently using NuFace I notice a huge difference. Ironed out!
My dermatologist recommended an over-the-counter product called Melatonik. It is a serum that contains melatonin. She said it would treat my rosacea, as well as help reduce wrinkles and damage by increasing cell turnover like hyaluronic acid does. I have been using it religiously for 3 1/2 years now every night under a collagen night cream. It costs $160 for a 1 ounce bottle that lasts about 6 months. Works out to about $27 per month. I have had great results!
Something else that helps tremendously...I am 70 and have been taking a collagen supplement since August 2022 as well as face message with essential oil in the morning and evening. It has work wonders on my skin and complexion. Finish with a good moisturizer with collagen and vitamin C.
I think you look beautiful and even more so because you don't get botox and fillers. I always assumed when I got to be the age I am (43) I would be doing this stuff but honestly it doesn't seem worth the risk. Having an autoimmune condition I have to be more careful so it's nice to see that not everyone feels they have to get procedures to look nice.
My mother has never had one procedure. She wears sunscreen and is modest with sun exposure and eats well and looks amazing at 55. What I see most in her is how she just appreciates herself and isn’t constantly worried about aging. She is beautiful period. It’s not age dependent. Lifestyle and eating well are huge. All my aunt in their 50’s look amazing because they laugh and enjoy life and eat well. I hope to have that same spirit and it just is so beautiful.
She looks too young to need any. I’ve gotten Botox for years and some fillers years ago, so what? There’s no difference in getting a few facial procedures to look better than getting your hair colored, cut and styled to look better or anything else beauty-wise.
I agree that this derm looks normal and in a good way! Those of us with certain chronic health issues need a good provider who will say NO, even when you want them to say YES. I'm in my late 40s, but never really wrinkled and only get fine lines around my eyes when I smile for the most part. But, I started to get a "1" between my eyebrows that I could see all the time a couple of years ago and asked my provider how much Botox would cost to fix that (it's only around $100 USD to treat that area). However, I have severe dry eye and a genetic connective tissue disorder, so we discussed it further as I was worried about adverse reactions I'd read about. Botox can cause dry eye in normal people and with my defective collagen, who knows where the Botox could end up migrating to. She asked if I could live with even drier eyes for 3 months (NO!) and was really pushing me against getting anything injected for my "fine line," which made me feel a little better as it seems like an etched in wrinkle on my face that makes me look angry and old. So, I filled the Rx for tretinoin 2 years ago, which doesn't do much IMO, and more recently bought an inexpensive LRP hyaluronic acid serum that helps to plump up the line (now turning into 2 lines :/) and make it less noticeable. I also try to not frown, but it's something I tend to do when I'm reading, thinking, or listening intently. I'd try more skin care products (the Peter Thomas Roth one was mentioned by my provider as her nurse uses it), but I also have eczema and the eye area is really susceptible to rashes so I only use an ultra-gentle LRP Toleriane cleanser and moisturizer on and around my eyes (well, I do use tretinoin around my eyes--yikes--but honestly my fine lines are just getting worse). I don't think I'm going to stop smiling or laughing, so that's that I suppose. *LRP = La Roche Posay (which I've used since my mid-30s and my sensitive skin loves it).
it is amazing how you look so refreshing no tired without botox no fillers no operation no mesotherapy no skin bio-revitalizante no treads actually you are a miracle wow ! thanks !
Love this! Thank you! I would love content about Korean and Japanese beauty products and routines. I’d love to watch reviews, I’d love to see an anti-aging routine of these products, and I’d love to understand all of their beauty secrets!
Wonderful video with such an important message...it's okay to look human!!! You are my favorite youtube dermatologist because of your outlook on aging and beauty...a breath of fresh air and so encouraging and empowering 🥰
i have that pillow. its great. but i paired it with a silk pillow case. even better. i did notice less sleep lines with the pillow but i notice more the silk pillow case. in case you cant afford the pillow get a cheap silk pillow case. you will thank me later.
Thank you for your honesty. When I considered Botox several years ago, a relative who happened to be a retired medical school professor, urged me not to. She said Botox had side effects that no one was talking about. I’m glad I listened. Given my sensitivity to any medication I can only imagine what might have happened had I started injecting my face. I look forward to your next video!
@@lls2164 Unfortunately the conversation ended with that statement. But I have since learned of all the potential side effects listed in this video. I think the one that is the biggest turn off for me is the atrophying of facial muscles and the dimpling that can result. That sounds awful. I can handle cellulite on my thighs but not on my face!
I am focusing on doing as much as I can with skin care AND being mindful of how I move my face. I used to constantly lift my eyebrows, but I taught myself out of that. It is such a simple concept that nobody is talking about even though it can give you really good results. Probably because you can't sell anything off of that. At the same time, effective skin care makes sure that my skin stays elastic so that the smaller movements of the face don't necessarily even cause a wrinkling effect. I am 31, and I have even been asked if I've had botox since my forehead is so smooth. Well, just once, but I do hold that as a victory. 😂
I am 65 and have a good diet, great health and excellent shape. It's been around 4 years that I am using the pillow ( I sleep on my back around 10 years)and I love it! I also love Botox and I won't replace it with anything. I tried the frownies but I think it's a waste of time especially because you have to place it on clean skin and I love my nighttime routine and can't stop my tretinoin even for one night.
Dr. Locke thank you for providing a realistic approach to what expect with neuromodulators and fillers. I have done both and I can attested the often you do Botox the least effective is. Also, in the past when I have fillers didn’t last in my cheeks more than 6 months due to the way I metabolize the hyaluronic acid due to my intense exercise routine. I am almost 49 years old with minimum dynamic lines but I take care my skin with a great skincare and devices and a gallon of water a day; that been said I have come to turns with the aging process because we are not wax figures and I rather use my money in investments or traveling. Amazing video. You are absolutely gorgeous. I need to know how you keep your hair so healthy and long. Can you do a video about that. Hugs 🤗
Thank you very much for this helpful video. As a women of a certain age, in her early 60’s, I am looking forward to try botox alternatives. (I have had good results also just using some of your products you have already recommended.) Because I have auto-immune diseases, I have always avoided botox, although some say it is safe, I’ve been told otherwise in the past. Thank you again for the great topic and very useful info! ❤️
Frownies are great! Give them a try. I’ve had Botox and it’s fabulous, but I hate the toxin part. When I’ve gotten it, I’ve felt this weird feeling , like it just isn’t good for us. So I am using frownies. I am new to them and so far I am happy. Forehead area. Can’t speak for the other parts. I am in my 50’s , so I am not young. Good luck.
Would you consider making a video about anti aging devices such as micro current, red light therapy, and more? I’d love to know your thoughts on if you think they’re worth the investment and good alternatives for Botox and filler. 💗💕
I know derms and others say you should sleep on your back but sometimes that's just not easy. I guess the Sio patches would also be similar to Frownies.
Agree! It is very difficult to sleep on your back. I am using 2 hard and high pillows under my knees and it is working almost 95% of the nights, I woke up laying on my back. Highly recommend it if you don't want to invest in the pillow that the doctor recommends. If I don't see improvement in my under eyes vertical wrinkles then I will try the expensive pillow.
I was going to order this but I thought it was a gimmick. Interesting to hear you've been using it for 2 yrs & really like it. I'm going to wait & see if it goes on sale. Argerline was also called Botox in a bottle & it doesn't really work & def no comparison to Botox
Been using my Frownies for over 20 years, I am now 52, they are amazing and really do work! I love all these alternative ideas, I am going to try the Peter Thomas Roth soon for my eye wrinkles!
@@BeckyCantu I actually have a video on how I use them. Sometimes I use surgical tape. I don't use them every night but I suggest that for starters that they be used every night for a month. Now I can skip some days and still see results 🙂
I have been sleeping with a neck pillow, like one you travel with, for 7 or so years. LOVE IT! I am a side sleeper due to having a bladder prolapse and can no longer sleep on my back. A nurse at my Dermatology clinic suggested it and it works.
I use smoothies every night. They’re great. Frownies are stronger but i rip them off in my sleep 😳. Smoothies I don’t notice. On my sleep I frown and wake up with 11’s noticeable. Not anymore
This is great! I’ve had Botox 3 times, each time I get flu like symptoms not to mention 2 times I had issues with my eyebrows falling or being too high! I definitely need help with the 11’s!
Thank you so much for recommending the frownies!! So excited to try them. Just turned 28 n starting to notice fine lines between my brows and under my eyes. I was going to get Botox but for now have completely changed my mind. I am so glad I did research first and found your videos. Thank you again!!
Great tips!!! I already was doing the tip where you facial muscle train so when I work out I use frownies and wear a hat 🧢 so no one can see my forehead is taped 😂 anyway I lift weights so I was tending to wrinkle my 11s a lot! Not anymore!!! Stand by that tip! It all adds up!
That’s really smart! I always get “ super focused face “ while I’m jogging or cycling and clench my jaw super tight so yeah… that’s prob a god time for me to wear them.
I started getting a deep static wrinkle between my brows from frowning and sleeping on my side (now that my skin sagging). It looked horrible! I started using a silicone patch (like frownies, but silicone vs paper) overnight and it made a huge difference! The downside is if I miss using them for even a night, I start noticing the wrinkle again that day. I do think it reduced the actual wrinkle depth tho - I think it stimulates collagen to some degree!
@@samanthathompson9812 Amazon. Tip: Use a deep foaming cleanser to clean the skin where you want to apply and to clean the patch right before applying to get it to stick through the night. Went through months of trial and error and returns before learning that. I also wear a sleep mask and that seems to help a lot too
@@fever3583 I’m currently using the Silc Skin Facial Pad Multi-Area Set. There are other sets within this brand and other brands that make similar products. This is the brand I like best so far, but I didn’t know how to properly use these silicone patches before, so take that with a grain of salt. I’d say just get something that offers free returns in case it doesn’t work for you.
Thank you so very much for this very helpful information. I was possibly considering the Botox for a scar between my eyes and the doctor, which was treating me for something else, made no mention of the concerns and risks. I’ve completely changed my mind and will try the frowning. Thanks again for sharing such information❤️
The sleeping lines made me laugh so much because I won't ever have this problem. My sleeping position is on the back, my arms straight on each sides like if I was dead and in a coffin. My boyfriend constantly used to tell me "when you sleep, you look dead". 🤣🤣🤣
My sleeping position is on my back too! with my hands on my stomach 🤣🤣🤣 I used to sleep on my side and on my stomach after seeing those lines on my face I started to train myself to sleep on my back it's been 8 years that I sleep on my back now! but my problem was to find a good pillow 😕 I went through several because used to give me neck pain until almost 2 years ago I got sleep & glow (Dr. Ray recommended) pillow for people who sleep on their backs OMG! What a difference! I love that pillow it's a little expensive but it's worth it , now if I try to sleep on my side even for a few minutes I can't my husband can't believe how I am able to sleep on my back without moving at all 🤣🤣🤣
I have used Botox a few times and it has worked great. I guess I'm lucky cause it lasts slightly over a year. No kidding... my wrinkles stay away for over a year any time I use Botox.
Take 1 thigh-high stocking or the equivalent (1 leg of cheap pantyhose), place 1 tennis ball on either side of a 6 or 8 inch gap where your neck would be, and tie them off to secure them. Use on top of your pillow of choice.
So, before I learned about frownies and silicone sheets, I used breathe right strips @11s. For those touting The Ordinary/DECEIM, the company was acquired by Estée Lauder as part of their diverse portfolio of advanced skincare at different price points. I use their flagship night serum and rack up on gifts with purchase. I am a fan of Ordinary thanks to Wayne Goss. My personal issue involved misapplication of a mix of products due to lack of information about how to layer them or *not*. Another issue with the instant topicals- they *work* , but how to apply under makeup?
So blessed I found you, I was planning to get Botox, but after watching your video I changed my mind. I am planning to do everything you are suggesting here. Thanks so much for your sincerety.
Omg. YES! It IS odd to look frozen and it IS uncomfortable that everyone is looking the same 😭 thank you for saying that and validating those of us who can’t understand why everyone would choose to look 👽
I've been to a dermatologist yesterday because I noticed that I start to get wrinkles under my eyes and near my mouth (nasolabial). First she only recommended pricy procedures like vampire lifting and fillers for the wrinkles around the mouth because I said directly that I'm not interested in Botox. But after she recognised that I'm kinda informed she said, that the most important thing is a good skincare routine. I would never touch fillers, because a doctor and friend of mine told me years ago, that the product builds up easily and doesn't dissolve on its own. No doctor would tell you that voluntarily if they want to sell you that pricy bs. And it's infuriating that they directly recommended fillers even if the wrinkles are fine like mine.
Thank you ☺️ I've been looking into the pillow as well as the frownies. They're just harder to get in Australia 🦘🇦🇺.... I've watched other videos that also suggest other products that help like The Ordinary's - Argireline 10% Solution, Multi Peptide +HA Serum (Buffet) & Matrixyl 10% +HA... Would you suggest them also? 💖
The last 2 times I got Botox, my pupils dialated so big that it turned my green eyes black right in the nurses office within seconds after injection. The following 3 days were filled with seizures, migraine, insomnia, and panic attacks. It also induced a period 2 weeks early the last time and 3 weeks early the time before. First time I thought it had to be something else bc they told me it could not possibly be the Botox. Second time, the same nurse, told me I should never do it again. That it was not for me. I’d say it’s not for ANYONE. It’s a ***** toxin being injected into your FACE! How stupid are we? Listen, this IS what the highest ups in elite circles that develop stuff like this say, according to whistleblowers: “if the people are stupid enough to fall for what we throw at them, then they deserve the consequences and they deserve what’s coming.” Don’t trust ANYTHING coming from mainstream medicine or politics.
@@rebeccayoung1833 I use them at night on my forehead as I m a side sleeper, my skin is sensitive and I have no irritation. My forehead does look smoother, more relaxed in the morning, I see a noticeable difference. I put them in the forehead area thats starting to get lines. I put it on after my night cream etc. I tried them on corners of mouth while sleeping but they don't stick for me, but I'm a really bad side sleeper.
Wow! Amazed to see this. A side sleeper, I have been trying to retrain myself to sleep on my back - 8 days in, and it is very tough going. I am successfully staying on my back, but am not getting much sleep at all. I would guess that the sleep n glo would help stop the upper lip creasing I am getting, but maybe is not going to stop face crease due to gravity pulling a chubby cheek down? How do you doublecheck it is going to work? a mirror?
I mean, I'm 28 now and have had static frown lines since i was 18, but have never considered doing anything about them until now. They are getting much deeper and feel like botox is the best to soften them.
Great video ..thanks! Can sunscreen be applied after the Peter Thomas Eye cream...and be effective? If so, would it still be able to get absorbed into the skin?
I'm really surprised you didn't give a focused mention to Agireline even as a stand alone also Microcurrent, Gua Sha or Jade Roller. I personally think these work wonders especially in conjunction with said topicals. Mix the Agireline into your favourite firming serum, Mytrxl, Snail Mucin etc post treatment to look snatch 😆
I have made the same experience. Since I am doing Face Yoga on a daily basis, use Gua Sha massages together in combination with my beauty products (Hyaloronic Acid and Vitamin C Serum, Matrixyl 10%+ HA and Argire Solution 10%, Aha-Cream and Retinol - not all together of course) in my morning and evening routine my face has changed once more. It has become slimmer is more defined, tight, glows and my jawline has sharpened too. I am 40, always looked younger, used SPF since my Midtwenties because of my very light toned skin, but since I added those things to my beauty routine I can say I gained a few years more in addition to my younger appearance.
@@jayedwardsuk5984 Don't know what this means (".. you've got it down to a T"), English is not my mother tongue, but I guess it's something positive. 😅 In any case, I will continue to do this.
What have you both found most helpful in reducing sagging / bloat / puffiness? My hypothyroidism went out of control and aged me decades in the matter of a few years, mostly through lower face sagging / jowls (from muscle weakness I assume) and bloat, and I feel at a loss. Any ideas appreciated!
How do you incorporate the Frownies into your skincare routine? Do they interact with your products? I follow your anti-aging routine and wonder if they can be applied after all the products?
I've been using Frownies for over 15 years but seldom use any night time products on my face. If you do, I would recommend you not put the product on the areas you plan to use your Frownies. But by all means try it with the product on to see if they'll stick. I use my Frownies multiple times before trashing them.
I would love to see some of your friends or clients that have used the frownies or other products talk about their results and show them up close. This is interesting also interested in the cream that you mentioned the Peter Thomas Roth cream. Anyone with experience with that product? Good video on alternatives instead of injecting poison into muscles in the human body.
I use Peter Thomas Roth eye serum. It really works. It takes a little practice, but you only need a tiny bit and I lightly dab it on with my ring or middle finger. I'm 71 and my under eye bags completely disappear😊!
I use frownies off and on for 2 years, and they really work- like the next day! But it doesn’t last that long, so you need to use them regularly. I’m 47, bad eyes, a squinter and have deepish 11s.
I use a satin pillow case , in my 50’s and have yet to get sleep lines. I also have good skin genes. My mom is 79 and she has zero lines or wrinkles. She has sagging skin now , but even that took a long time. She looked young till she hit her 70’e. If she got a facelift she’d look 30 years younger, but she doesn’t care. lol. I don’t get sleep lines yet nor morning puffiness. I do have 11’s badly and am trying frownies now.
Hi Maren! Love this video. I have been looking into Botox alternatives. I heard Skinmedica TNS Essential Serum is like Botox in a bottle as well. Could you try some of these products that are considered “Botox in a bottle” and do a video on your thoughts. That would be amazing.
I feel like my muscular disease that makes me very weak and general lack of facial expressions will really help prevent wrinkles. lol. Staying out of the sun for the most part since I was in my mid-teens, recent addition of SPF 50+ sunscreen and tretinoin, and being a nonsmoker should also help.
I was recommended this video, and I love it! Subscribing now, thanks. I have sleep apnea and sleep with a CPAP machine and mask. What can I do to reduce the lines I get from sleeping with that on? I figure a silk pillow or other expensive pillows like the one you suggested can only do so much if you sleep with a CPAP machine and mask. Thank you!
