Great car that smokes anything 0-40mph. It’s only let down by the wallow higher speed handling. I reckon coil overs would seriously transform this car though sport versions come with active suspension but they’re like rocking horse isht.
@@jaysimpson6857 yeah for sure, it's hardly a sport car by any definition. But I guess the target audience probably wasn't people that'll be thrashing it around a track or corners given its a barge
@@Deepak-uk4cf You misunderstood or maybe I should have been clearer. The wallow handling doesn’t present itself in corners, ok they’re not as sharp as a 5 series but they’re not far off when cornering, you just notice the long wheel base if anything. The wallow handling presents at highway speeds when changing lanes for example, the car doesn’t feel stable and is very floaty. I’m sure coil overs with an inch or so drop would resolve this and then I’m quite sure it would make a phenomenal track car. Forget target audience, this is a cheap second hand car but if someone wants a fast, reliable, luxurious, economical large saloon with sports saloon handling all you need to do is fit coil overs.
Most reliable car I've owned...even as a 3x Lexus owner I did manage to break one of them. The IS250 didn't cost me a penny though, except the 2 times people crashed into it. No bulbs, no wipers, just brakes, fluids and servicing. Pug 306 cost me £92 in 5 years (gear linkage bolt and exhaust) over 45k miles and the GS450h cost me £80 for a heat shield in 2 years and 20k miles. Type-R is a bit questionable on a list which isn't about fun, since there are more reliable Civics at that price. Most reliable would have been a Jazz but we know you're not letting that into the video 😆 Honestly I wouldn't have put that GS450h on there either, it's got a few known issues especially around the battery- uncommon but pricey. I actually think the Mk3 GS chassis is a little too soft as well, it's a great sleeper and awesome for the money though. I really need to have another go in that and the L10/Mk4 now I've had the porker for a while, I suspect the L10 especially is as good as I remember but I want to be sure...
@@CarsWithJB For the fun it offers, the EP3 is definitely a reliable choice, can't argue with that! I read it as "most reliable" but honestly that would be a pretty boring list- I think statistically you're looking at things like the Sandero and Jazz which are good but not that interesting...
With current fuel prices I think a fast cars with good fuel economy would be a nice addition, especially because being a student, I can't afford to run my 05 Megane RS for much longer with the way gas prices are going, and will be in the market for a replacement soon.
I am a Lexus GS450H with genuine 72k mileage since 2006. I have honestly never driven a more comfortable car. I needed my hybrid battery repaired and reconditioned and I managed to locate an independent hybrid expert who did so for £900 compared to Lexus garage cost estimate of £3,500 !!! Superb driving and very quick following hybrid battery conditioning - back to what it was from new.
Purchased a Subaru impreza around 6 years ago. Part exchanged a BMW 740i. Had the Subaru 5 years ,absolutely brilliant 👏 👌 drove through snow ❄, all the real bad winters. The subaru cost me £600 to part exchange. The BMW had engine problem. So the subaru was a quick purchase. What a reliable car, never broke down once. Left it for 4 weeks while we were away , came back started first time.
the last Civic EP3 you showed that was priced at £4750 was a rare Mugen model. I literally saw the badge and went backwards just to make sure I really saw a Civic Mugen
There's no official Mugen EP3. Just aftermarket parts for the EP3. Such as front lip, grille and spoiler, ep3 came in normal guise, 30th anniversary, premier addition and JDM. The FN2 had a Mugen FN2. And the much much rarer M20 which also had engine modifications.
having had my 2002 IS300 for 11 years relatively trouble free, I'm about to grab a Late LS430 as soon as the right one comes along, safe in the knowledge it'll see me right for another decade
Lexus is always at or near the top of any reliability survey, only worry is the rust in the UK. I would assume Honda Civic is best for rust resistance being English built?
The corolla T sports 0-60 is equivalent to the EP3. Toyota branded is as much slower to put it into a lower insurance group. My uncle had. I drove it and was very very similar as my ep3 if not the exact same. Very unassuming to those who don't know either. Nice little car
2007 Skoda Octavia VRS manual wagon. Basically a Mk5 Golf GTI, but built way better than any other VAG vehicle using the same parts (the Czechs know what they’re doing). Those who mock this comment just don’t understand how well built these Skoda’s were & how bulletproof & developed the driveline was by the time it was used by Skoda.
@@wakaflockaproject They’re good too, but the EA113 FSI motor was replaced with the new EA888 motor & the timing chain tensioner tended to fail quite regularly. Also a few other related problems associated with going from a timing belt to timing chain. Keep on top of that & stat away from DSG & you’ve got a pretty reliable package.
@@davidjolliffe9622 I've got a 2.0 tdi 2009 a3, dsg is reliable just need to keep on top of maintenance. Many owners abuse them then complain about reliability
most reliable car i've ever owned i still have a mk3 mondeo estate 2.0 TDDI,10 years of serious abuse and not regally serviced driven hard and in 10 years all its ever needed is a battery and a starter motor.
I love my T sport, I am really glad they are getting a lot more light and attention nowadays but the 0-60 time Toyota claims hasn't done it many favours. People who have driven or owned one can confidently say that it is so much faster, Toyota wanted the light to shine more on the Celica with the same engine. Funnily enough the corolla was actually faster than their 'famous' sports car so they gave the rolla the 8.1 to help the sales of the Celica (this is what I have read from multiple sources anyway). I mean would the T sport or Type R argument even exist if the corolla's 0-60 was actually that slow?😂 The lift crossover and the overall sound is insane, and for a 1.8L it is actually very impressive for what they are capable of out of the box, all that while the car is still a fairly sensible daily and becoming really rare. I'm wanting to get mine on better suspension and potentially add some sump baffles so I can comfortably throw it around a bit without worrying about any oil issues.
LSD from a mr2 fits straight into the c60 gearbox, 295mm discs and calipers from an avensis t25 fit after drilling the discs 4x100 pcd, add a cheeky rear anti roll bar and good suspension and tyres and it's transformed from a grandad car to an absolute laugh a minute motor. Beware, lift is addictive 😁 Sump from a 1zz celica is baffled as standard, and fits straight on.
Great Video - Honda V-TEC engines are more reliable than those found in the Civic Type-R. (Classic) Land Rover Defenders are ultra-reliable but probably not available for less than £5k. Worth looking at though!
Hi - you include the 3litre BMW diesel but can I add a vote for the M47 2litre diesel ? This is far more easily found and, if remapped, it matches the HP/torque figures of the standard 3l and is essentially the same engine with 2 cylinders chopped off - including the same well understood risk due to swirl flaps. In 6-speed 2004 or later form it is also a lot more economical. I did 275k miles in one before I hydrolocked it in a flooded ford crossing.
My Seat Ibiza Cupra Tdi (PD160) currently on 263k and no problem at all with the engine, despite it's been remapped 9 years ago. I've done lot's of track days, 1/4 mile races, time attacks. Still does the job well. 🙂 (Suspension arms and some other parts are still the original.) 😃
E90 3 series? thought they were the worst for timing chain issues. constantly see forums showing problems with diesel engines having timing chain failure at around 70k. is the 3L that much more reliable than the 2L?
Shame all these cars are the shittest and ugliest cars in the woooorrrrrllllddddd tho , I have a 2005 2.0 fiesta ST owned from new it’s got 180, 000 miles it’s just recently had 2 rear wheel bearings , a new plastic coolant tank and about two years ago I had to replace a suspension spring and that’s it in all the MILES And YEARS that I have owned it . NOW THATS A COOL LOOKING GOD DAMN RELIABLE CAR , the majority of cars get a bad reputation due to only shit owners not looking after them !
