Eddie is on the studio and live album. It’s hard to find personnel listing for the Live video, so I assume that the live video and live album, since they are the same year, are the same personnel. Plus, Ralph is a little bigger in stature and Eddie is a little smaller, so, I’m still guessing a bit, but all of the sources point to Eddie Brown. … I think Ralph played percussion on Herbie Mann’s cover of What’s Going On (Push Push) … but I’d have to dig deeper to confirm that. If you have a source I should look at, please let me know because I’m always trying find out who played on what albums and it’s not always easy.
Yeah that's Eddie "Bongo" Brown on What's Going On. Other percussionists that appear on that album are Bobbye Hall and Earl DeRouen. But Eddie was the main percussionist on a good deal of the Motown recordings along with Bobbye Hall. (Look up Bobbye Hall she's an amazing percussionist!). I was fortunate to meet Eddie when I was very young.

Motown is a record company, and soul music is a more broad name for the sub genre of funk. Motown is a label that contributed to the creation of soul music and there are a few beats and drum fills that are associated with the Motown sound.
