I feel the same about bulbos Danny! I love their style and stature. Phals, paphs and bulbos were my first orchids in my low light space 😊🌱 I always appreciate that you consider people’s different grow spaces
If anyone would ID the summer-blooming white orchid with an orange lip? I’ve seen it in a couple recent vids but not ID’d in either one. Am sure Dani id’d it previously but I haven’t found it....did appreciate the fan who helped us read the tag on the Pearman paph (pink). This vid gives me confidence to branch into bulbos. Thanks to Dani and all!
great info again.. my windows face north.. I started using artificial light especially during winter.. trying different types of orchids to see what i can grow.. thanks❤️
Great informative video! I have been trying to grow my beauties in very low light, and it is great to know that many of the orchids I have are ok for low light conditions.
Never grown Bulbophullyms, I always thought they would be too difficult, perhaps it’s time to give it a go. I love Phaleanopsis and their flower longevity. They are also very forgiving of culture mistakes I make.🌺🌸🌼
Love how you always pick more than one type of orchid for videos like these!!!! Loved the video!!! Added a few to my wishlist now. I am sure a lot of people feel that same way. Can anyone tell me what Slipper Orchid is at time stamp 11:09 it looks to be a beautiful white and pink. I saw the tag but couldn't quite read it. It needs to be on my wishlist. :-)
My phals are currently kept in average size east facing kitchen window except at night when they get covered so they have their period of dark. I have a huge wide and tall east facing living room window however... :P Right now there is a couch in front of it but I am trying to figure out where to move the couch so I can put a large bookshelf in that window. Then I can have more than 3 orchids. :P There is a mulberry tree growing outside in front of it which is bare now but will have leaves in spring/summer. However it has grown tall enough that the only thing in the way of the window is the trunk really. I have a small single story house and a large portion of the branches are growing up over the roof after 10 or so years. :P - Heidi
As always thank you for your wonderful work for us. I don't want to be naughty, but I read that some od paphiopedilums need similar light to cattleyas or slighty less to bloom, for example paph. delenatii. So I think not every paphs can handle low light and better check few times. Maybe the information is wrong. I've have low light place and for this place I ordered paph. delenatii and it was to dark for it. There was an opportunity to buy new ones. So I checked light level with lux meter application for phone and info about the best paphs for this place. I chose paph. bellatulum and concolor. English is not my maternal language, so I am sorry if i am seemed to be rude. Best wishes. 😊
People on my fav orchid page on fb constantly direct each other to your videos for trouble shooting. :) I just thought you might like to know that, I know I would. Lol :) Keep up the good work miss famous orchid girl. :)
Dani, HELP!! I enjoy your videos very much and finally got the courage to buy one. I bought it last week @ Home Depot. It was well watered when I purchased it. Only today I felt it was just dry enough to remove from pot and inspect the roots. After removing all the ICKY "moss" I found all the roots that were wrapped in the stuff are yellowish and some of the yellow sheaths slipped off the root with little handling. There are some green roots at the base of the crown and at the end of some of the yellow ones because they poked out of the moss. Do you think she stands a chance?
Not Dani, but I've rescued dozens and dozens of store phalenopsis. If it doesn't have crown rot, then it's most likely rescuable! Just be sure to repot it per Dani's instructions in the beginner series and give it the right light. I've been enjoying the slow-release fertilizer in a top dressing. Easy care.
I have a lovely collection of orchids but my table is getting full. I have a small shelf on the wall next to a window but worry that the light is not bright because is not coming from above but rather underneath. It’s a north facing window and the shelf is only 2 feet from it. Would that be enough light even if it’s light from below?? Or does it have to be from above?
Thinking of putting a Phalaenopsis in the bathroom where there is no windows. The only light would be on if the room was occupied. But at the same time there would be plenty of moisture in the air. Will it survive or bloom?
Miss orchid, I hope you see this because I need help. I have a sick mother plant that grew 2 keikis from where it used to grow flowers. The mother plant has some healthy roots but some are also dead. Also it is dehydrated with floppy yellowing leaves. The keikis haven’t developed roots yet. I don’t want to cut off the keikis but I’m worried that the mother plant won’t be able to support them. What should I do?
Hello, I could do with some help for my Orchid please. I have 3 Phaleanopsis. They are all in a 5 inch pot but are coming through the bottom. What size pot should I get for them? also a couple of my Orchids are twin stalks in same pot but I've noticed only one side is flowering and the other has none flowers even though year before it did.
Can anybody tell me the exact name of the summer blooming phalaenopsis in the video that has white flowers with an orange lip? I keep seeing it around and I'd like to get one.
