This made me laugh entirely way too hard 😂😂😂😂....yes aimlessly staring at my spam like wtf. How do I get my 7yr old to love this. Imma go w the rice idea.
When I pan fried the spam I never put oil on the pan as the spam already have lots of fat on it. Afterwards I use paper towel to soak all the greasy oil off the spam before eating 🍽
My dad cooks like this too. The difference is that since our pans aren't non stick (and pretty damaged too lmao) he boils it in a bit of water then fries it in the oil that's left behind.
Hint! For spam musubi, use sushi rice (calrose) instead of jasmine. Jasmine rice is too dry, the musubi will fall apart. Sushi rice is stickier, it holds its shape better. For fried rice, jasmine rice is perfect! For fried rice, I cook the spam first because the oil from it leeches out, and I use that oil to cook the rest of the ingredients as you described. I cook the spam until the edges are crispy. My favorite spam is hot n spicy, tabasco sauce is already in the spam. Super tasty!
Try it this way sometime. 1 cup of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon yellow mustard, 1 teaspoon water, put in microwave for 20 to 30 second intervals until brown sugar is totally dissolved. Pour over sliced spam and microwave for 2 minutes. Pair with Craft macaroni and cheese. This is one of my sons favorite meals. I love it because it is so fast to make after a super busy day.
Spam is our favorite growing up in Hawaii, you can make anything with spam. Our house will never run out of spam, always have at least a dozen if not more in our pantry. Love ♥️ Spam!!!
Interesting 💜 I haven't eaten spam in years, and I got a tin the other day. I'll be trying it in Mei Fun I think, and the fried rice looks yummy 😊 Thank you for sharing 😊
The number of subs that she accrues has nothing to do with “the amount of work she puts in her edits”, people need to find the channel first before she can get more subs.
@@badboyonthebayo987 not sure what you mean by a “buzzkill” but regardless of what you want to call me, it doesn’t alter the fact that even the best ASMR artist cannot get subs until people discover them, usually by accident.
I make spam pancakes; after you turn spam once, top with pancake batter. Also use spam for Reubens sandwiches with swiss cheese, sauerkraut and 1000 island dressing
You are cutting your spam the wrong direction. I should be top to bottom rather than side to side! That way you get a consistent geometry (length and width-wise) throughout the process. I'm from Hawaii, we eat a lot of it and we're picky about it LOL. If I saw your musubi I'd be like "WTF, the spam didn't come all the way to the edges!" WHO DID THIS!!! PS. Get a mold or find a way to pack it in there tight or else it's gonna fall apart - but you know that now.
I used to eat ramen just as it comes from the package. But then, one day, I added some diced and browned onion and Spam. It improved the ramen, but then, later, I added a few drops of Worchester Sauce while browning the onion and Spam, and WOW did that make a difference! Also, if anyone is reading this, you do NOT need a rice cooker. Personally, I hate them. I make rice differently. I use the instant rice available in any grocery store in the US. For one cup of rice, I put just under a cup of water in a saucepan and heat it until it starts to boil. I recommend waiting until you see some bubbles in the water but not a full rolling boil. Add the rice, stir it up a bit, put the lid on the pan and remove from the heat. Let it sit while you do other stuff, whatever that is. But after about five minutes, the rice will have absorbed the water and will be done. If you like some seasoning, add that to the water when you start. The rice will absorb that, too. I like to add a little black pepper and some soy sauce. I eat rice several times a week because it is so tasty, good for you, and easy to make.
Wow~ All looks good! And I like the fried rice! I like that you add ginger~ it's going well with the dish for sure! 👍😍 But my personal I will add spam first and make it crispy 😆 My tip for making fried rice: mix rice with all the seasoning before in a bowl like that you will spend less time because of rice sticking together in your pan 😎
Actually, I don't think I ever ate SPAM before! I do a chicken fried rice that is very similar to yours. You just gave me a good excuse to try SPAM in my next batch of fried rice!
LOL! We use Spam Occasionally in a Variety of ways also, I still live in Honolulu, Hawaii. And when I was in the Army in N. Carolina I turned on my fellow Barrack comrades to Spam and in so many ways, they liked the change from eating Dominoes Pizzas on weekends!
Love, Love, Love the recipes! I am First Nations and Spam is also a staple in our meals. My mother would make a soup which was simply spam, onions boiled in water. The spam is salty enough to season the water, just add some black pepper and you are good to go. I also like to add rice to make it more hearty. Also have spam in place of bacon or sausage with our morning breakfast.
I agree! Spam is so very Versatile when ever I teach to teens or young adults trying to learn how to cook, I always use spam as my primary meat as it changes texture and flavor when cooked in certain ways.
I'd have to admit i'm not really a huge fan of Spam but all those dishes looked good. So when can we expect to see the #Cookwithme Janice Fung Food & Kitchen products to hit the supermarket shelves, LOL
I'm so happy they sell single serving Spam packets. So good when frying then serving on English Muffins with a fried egg. I really love spam, eggs, sausage and spam though.
You’re not the only one that likes spam. I buy it every time I do my grocery shopping. I keep spam in my pantry. I’ve been eating spam since the early sixties. I don’t know. Kinda grew up with spam.
This is the second time I have watched Janice Fung and have enjoyed it very much the way she presents her videos with so much passion, and beautiful humor. Being a chef I enjoy watching other people love for cooking on youtube, like my favourites Gordon Ramsay, Marco Pierre White, Emeril Lagasse,, and now, Chef Janice, Fung, keep up the good work
Hi just wondering you might be interesting in the top two Chinese chefs RU-vidr: Chef Wang and Magic Ingredient. These two are the most famous ones introducing real Chinese food….
Yes indeed... the spam/egg sandwich tastes betta even without butta. And I LOVE the recipe in the rice cooka, if you don't put too much wata, and make sure you add vinega and sugah (oh, wait, I don't like that so I'll skip the sugah) , but OMG!!! the Spam fried rice is my favorite (without the sugah, of course). I put a bit more gahlic in mine because I love gahlic. I made this with quinoa once instead of rice and it was delicious! You guys should try these recipes! Spam rocks!
I only tuned in because of this lady's pretty smile. Now I'm hooked on her voice and enthusiasm too! I draw the line at Spam. I know how it's made. I still love the smile and joy.
I enjoyed watching your video. You just came right to the point. What you see, what you get . I like that . Your dishes are very deliciuos although I'm a diabetis . I do not eat carbs and fat .
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned it but most people don't slice their spam the way you do. You're slicing side to side . You'll get a better result if you slice it top to bottom.
I like to fry the spam first and then crack the egg onto the spam while in the pan! Spam musubi is just ok for me. Spam fried rice is the best! Spam instant noodle another classic! That korean army pot looks good!!!!! but I can do without Kim Chi...hehehe
Nice video. Thanks for the ideas. I'll have to try them out. My go-to SPAM meal, is to cut the Spam into 1cm cubes. Add SPAM, diced onions, + a little oil and cook in covered pan, stirring often, caramelizing onions abit, and browning SPAM. Cook 2 cups white rice. Heat up 1 can of corn with small amount of butter. Mix all ingredients. Add very little salt + some pepper. Put on plate or in a bowl and drizzle it with honey. Simple, but I love it. Takes about 15-20 minutes total too.
