I've been following your channel for quite a long time now. You guys do an awesome job. Keep on shreddin' !!! Personally I can't remember a video on how to deal with mental barriers. I mean how to deal with that kind of great nervousness before a race, hitting a new jump or anything when it comes to something like get out of your comfort zone. You taught us on how to prepare our bodies an bikes for racing downhill. But how do you prepare your brain?? Hope you know what i mean.... :-) You guys were pro racers or pro bikers in general. A video with your personal experiences would help me and I guess a lot of others too :-)
I ride right foot forward. These past few weekends at Angel Fire and Pajarito I've been practicing Left foot forward. I think thats a (i dont know what word to articulate it) unique skill to learn(?). That way i get comfortable if a situation comes where the left is forward
I went on my first downhill run yesterday my mate has a proper downhill bike and told me I should come along. I pulled out my specialized hard rock pro which I haven't ridden in years and I gotta tell you it was a hell of a struggle! Do people downhill on mountain trail bikes or are they completely out of the question? I found once lowering my tyre pressures and the rocks/tree roots etc weren't too big/rough I was able to pick up some speed and keep up. Didn't fall off which is a bonus but definitely had a few close calls. We are doing a smoother downhill next run because I really did struggle with the hard terrain stuff. One thing that wasn't covered in this video is brakes. I was quite stumped on how to brake I was essentially on the back brake most of the run trying to cut off speed and compose myself for what was to come. Locking the rear A LOT. I guess with a proper downhil bike you probably don't need to brake, but do you use a combination of front and rear or mainly rear? I was a bit scared to lock up my fronts but was using both at times to knock speed off.
Can you make a video about: When i should choose an enduro Bike and when I should choose a downhill bike?! Just the advantages and the disadvantages....
Sorry in advance for the noob question, I grew up on dirtbikes and bmx, but never looked into mountain bikes until now. Anyway why do downhill mtb have gears? What are they used for? Do you downshift and do the equivalent of "engine braking" to keep traction? (Rather than locking the rear wheel and sliding)
Nice bike. I did lots of research and for my needs and budet. (beginner, low budget) It came down to The Kona Operator or a Giant Glory, but I chose the Glory just because of location. It was being sold not far from me compared to the Operator.
if you are upgrading your fork i would only only go up 10mm , but if you talking about moving from a 120 to 140 bike i would just get a endro bike 160mmish and keep your 120 rig
Cornering dude, I love it but it hates me, I really pick up speed, i go low, i use the lil hill up there, but my weight dude... I flew out so many times over the corner and ruined that part of the track, that I started carrying a foldable shovel to fix the edges for the next rider
There are downhill hardtail bikes FYI. And I think, given that hardtails are more widespread than FS bikes, a tutorial for fast descents on hardtails would be appreciated by many.
Based how strong you feel.I know that many people went 1x11 and are very happy with it.And some people still like to roll 2x10 like Tracy Moseley and still do good.
#askgmbn can you make a video about downhill protextion Wear?or is a protector jacket for 300Euros (like the poc)worth the money?and how good is the protection?
Depends what you like. I'm fairly cautious and prefer light weight comfort so I ride DH in Helmet, gloves, and knee pads (sometimes elbow pads too). If you think you're liable to be going down in rockgardens or hitting trees it's probably worth getting extra protection
I've been thinking of upgrading my pedals, I have clips and was wandering the best pedals to upgrade to? I ride a Capra al and do a mixture of riding. I have been looking at the CB mallet E pedals. what are your thoughts?
