@@ChevyDude @MR. Smith I was very lucky to get a unicorn of a truck; a used 2012 Silverado 1500 4WD Crew Cab LT with only 52,000 miles and one local owner when I bought it in January 2019.
The lack of a column shifter is what I'm saddened by the most, buttons just don't feel as enjoyable to use as a big old shift lever especially when trying to quickly maneuver.
Last vehicles that had cassette players that I know of were the panther triplets, they had them right until the end of 2011 production (2012 if you count the GCC Crown Victoria's).
GM has been doing that with a lot of vehicles lately. The GMC variants look a lot better in my opinion, but I’m a Chevy guy at heart so it’s disheartening to see the new designs be so underwhelming.
yeah they don't typically do mid-cycle refreshes on the tahoe/suburban, the last model only ran for 5 years and was just replaced with this one. I think the front end improved, the rear end looks like a 2005 equinox :( however I think the new Yukon has this beat by a long shot, and escalade even further.
They deleted the fog lights! I use those lots of times especially after dark in the fall!!! The headlights in the 2016 Silverado were inadequate and had to be replaced with aftermarket immediately for country driving and still needed the fog lights also on so that it was safe to do country gravel road driving at night without ending up in a ditch. You got to be able to see the edges of the road and be bright enough to see the deer crossing the road ahead.
I am a Chevy owner myself, but wish they would go away from all the computer stuff , take a shift lever with a cable , which I know my truck has and replace it with1200$ computer does not seem cost effective . I have notice with all the computers and safety stuff cars or most truck really do not get much better gas mileage then 15 to 20 years ago if you look at how much vehicles cost. PS bring the cost of vehicles down to match cost of living. Just my 2 cent. Still love watching videos sometimes very informative.
Actually they get worse gas mileage. My 1962 convertible Pontiac tempest lemans got 26 mpg. Even my 1989 5.0 liter mustang got 26 mpg. Now your lucky to get 20-22 mpg.
And I just confirmed with hubby, my 1994 Ford F-350 dually crew cab desiel got 20 mpg not pulling, and 23 mpg pulling a four horse loaded with three kids and all their gear thru Kentucky hills. Yes better!! And that was every trip for ten years and 250,000 miles. We were disappointed after getting a new 2004 truck and the best we could get was 14mpg desiel not pulling (empty). 10-12 mpg pulling.
I still listen to CD's in my 2018 Yukon XL Denali. The quality on a CD is much higher than the USB/Bluetooth options. Though, convenience is slowly starting to get to me, I find myself using Pandora often.
I listen to CD’s daily too. There’s a damned good reason why they’re still being produced and sold in stores. Streamed music cuts out a lot of the original recording in the sake of saving down load time. And CD’s are still, by far, the safest media to store your collection of music on.
That’s stupid that they didn’t add the fog lights. It wasn’t needed but it was the look u get with the fog lights n parking lights that made it nice too have. They always find a way to mess something up. The Yukon and Escalade has them.
Chevy needs to let go of their interior design team. The push button selector looks bad. All the buttons are the same size, some push, some pull. People are going to get annoyed with that. And the area to the left of the steering wheel is a mess. Buttons and knobs galore. The knobs are the same size. And that stupid unlabeled drive mode selector that everyone hates needs to go. Most people don’t know what the little checkered flag and arrows even mean lol. It’s such a bad interior and anybody shopping around at other makes & models won’t stay on the Chevy lot long.
Push/pull on the gear selector is for safety. Just like a console shifter, you need to push the button for Park, Reverse, and no button for nutral, drive and between gears.
The name of the game is money by deleting the cd player. Makes you pay for data from phone company or depend on internet to listen to music. You can buy an after market cd player that plugs into the usb and act just like it would if bought that way.
I own a 2022 Tahoe as well as a 2022 Toyota. Under the category of design mistakes. 1) Unlike Toyota, you have to turn off the Daytime Running Lights on every engine start. Two government studies have shown NO safety benefit to daytime running lights. They're really nothing more than a MPG lowering decoration. That's why General Motors disconnects them when doing government mileage tests. Toyota has "DRL off" right on the light switch. 2) Unlike Toyota, No factory navigation system. You have to use Apple CarPlay and be dependent on a cellular connection for navigating. If the connection gets weak or you're in a location with no cell service, there goes your navigation. (If you're clever, you can download small portions of Google maps for off-line use.) 3) Unlike Toyota, Tahoe has the universally despised engine start-stop technology. I know that overrides are readily available, but many people don't know how to install them. 4) If you leave the vehicle in Accessory Mode the radio will go dead after only 20 minutes. Not good for drive-in movies (there are over 400 in America) or other situations where you want to listen to the radio with the engine off. The battery could easily power this for 2 or 3 hours. You can't change this setting. Personal preference: I hated the giant sunroof. I custom ordered my Tahoe with no sunroof. Also, I recommend you order the second row as a bench seat, NOT captains chairs. With captains chairs you have a big hole in the cargo area when you fold all the seats down. Overall, I do like the Tahoe. It's just that it could've been a better vehicle. I like the push-button gear shift. Informative video. Thank you for doing it.
decided to replace my 2013 Avalanche LTZ ( 37k miles only) after some 'drip' ran a stop sign , hit me and totaled it.. got a new 2021 Tahoe LT.. over the past 20 years been thru 4 new Suburbans and two Avalanches ... Chevy went overboard with tech that has no useful purpose-- and I'm a gadgets kinda guy so most of it I shut down.. more of a PITA than useful for me.. missing the storage compartment behind the info screen.. and oh that hideous eye sore new screen-- it might be large but not worth the missing storage and its ugly--what were they thinking.. all this tech and NO fog lites.. push-button shifter--like going back to an old hemi Dodge in the 60's .. bring back that column shifter.. ..after having this truck since early December I'd take back my old 2013 Avalanche if I could
2006 Suburban, Tahoe, Avalanche and Silverado had the last CD/cassette combination player. I got a feeling that GM will place the column shifter back on the Tahoe PPV because that what police departments want.
Going into park with e brake on is a terrible idea. Not a leo but fire does this often actually. It's not uncommon at all to hope in with door open and move a vehicle with door open.
Might have missed it, but there's no button to turn on all of the interior lights....you have to open the door. Definitely miss the fog/driving lights, I'm going to add them to my new suburban. That extra wide and low light is very useful.
It’s amazing that the quality has gone down, while the price went up because they wanted more computerized garbage. All of these car companies want to end the shade-tree mechanic.
I don’t like the buttons for shifting dodge has the knob and that turned me off to the vehicle I like old school stuff technology is just more stuff that goes wrong!!!
The overuse of electronics is going to really affect the long term ownership of these vehicles. How long before replacement modules are discontinued? There should be a.ppace for a physical key, and backup mechanical door unlocked and roll windows.
The rear seat entertainment system is actually a good idea because you can hook up iPads and other mobile devices to them. Keeps the kids from arching their backs and looking down at their phones because they can just sit back and look forward at the screen
I am sorry to say I am not a fan of the update. I will be keeping my 2015 Tahoe LTZ and if something happened to it I would replace it with a 2015-2020 Tahoe.
Chevy Dude when things settle down and its a bit safer I will make an appointment for a test drive. I am just very happy with my 15LTZ. It does everything i need and want it to do.
Personally I decided not to buy another Ram 1500 for myself, not to buy another new Ford Edge or Lincoln MKX/Nautilus for my wife due to the idiotic idea of replacing the console & column shifters with push buttons or dials. Just because we have the technological capability to do something doesn't mean we ought to do it. Especially when companies use the opportunity to cost cut by making the new tech out of a combined total of $0.75 of molded plastic & cheap printed circuit boards.
Man o man there are so many bells and whistles on these new cars as the years roll by you almost have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out how it all works no thanks I’ll just hang on to my 2013 Impala LTZ That car has only a few bells and whistles and very dependable at that
Fog lights are a waste, It rarely gets foggy enough to use them and NOBODY knows how to turn them off. The newer lights that come on vehicles are plenty enough illumination to see on back, rural roads, or roads without street lights.
I would go for a yukon because fog lights are a big help in selling a vehicle to me. I like them and like the look of them plus they help alot in fog / snow ❄ etc. Anything that might be in the roadway they help.
Just wait until those electronics break down over time. As far as fog/driving lights, I'm sure aftermarket will solve that issue. I wonder how long that LCD panel will last.
In my personal preference on the losing of the gear stick in most new cars more Electronics it can go bad so more warranty recalls see if anything goes bad
Maybe not idiot-proof if it's like the new Vett. You can lock and close the doors on a running Vett. So, you're locked outside a running car with the fob inside. Not a brilliant move but if it can be done, people will do it.
They also removed the blinkers in the mirrors on the SUBs and trucks, which is quite a let down. Also a mystery is to the lights on the front of the mirrors that don’t work while moving...what is the purpose for them? Not sure if these lights are in the Tahoe mirrors.
I’ve got power adjustable pedals in my 2014 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ Z71 5.3L And GM deleting the fog lights off the Tahoe and Suburban, I do not like at all. I love the fog lights on my truck, I think they need to put them back and leave them there!
No it's a push button now its insane that GM CHEVROLET GMC CADILLAC doesn't have a clue what customers want in a vehicle these days I guess its really time for the CEO TO>>>>>>>>>>>GO SHE HAS NO IDEA WHAT CONSUMERS WANT TRUCKS SHOULDN'T HAVE PUSH BUTTON CRAP.
Yes bring the fog lights back Chevy! I’m wondering if you can add the Silverado fog lights to the suburban/Tahoe? I’m ordering a suburban RST in 2022 so I’m hoping for two upgrades, The 6.2 which is not offered in the 2021 RST and fog lights. Fingers crossed.
Is there a way to get the Mirrors to AUTOMATICALLY fold in?........This should be a setting....When Locking your car, AUTOMATICALLY fold in the mirrors....when unlocking Automatically fold out.
Dang haha cool. Hmm idk about the last cassette, but in my very reliable 2004 Silverado has a cassette and CD player. CD player doesn't work but I do still use and try to collect cassettes. Love listening to the Beatles Abbey Road
I pray that they bring back the power pedals. My family with our height used them. I hope they bring back the fog lights. Our area (WA State) sees fog. Also at night if it’s dark and rainy it really helps with also using the regular lights.
Another great video. Thanks for the all the buying and selling tips. I wanted to get rid of my GMC Sierra a few weeks ago.I tried TrueCar to get an instant cash offer. I took that offer to the local dealer who wanted my truck. They raised the offer but still not enough for me to sell it. Then I remembered you saying that Carvana was overpaying for cars. Their offer was 3k more than TrueCar and $1500 more than the local dealer. Carvana process was great. Hardest part of the process was getting a dealer payoff out of GM Financial. Thanks again for all your tips. You help me sell my truck.
Half the price of a house, up to 10 year loans instead of just make it affordable instead of greed for profit, nope! I've been a loyal GM owner since 2005 and currently still own 2 of them. Been looking to trade in the 2013, 3500 Silverado LT, crew, duramax, 4x4, 114000 miles, very good condition. Stealerships around here in Tampa area want to offer me 27k like they doing me a favor and yet asking 70k for the same truck to replace this one. Then they say but its 27k off the price, thats a good deal with 84 months at 2.1%. Doesn't make sense to me. So, just going to keep what I have until it breaks. With idiot libreals, they pushing us towards electric ao then what will happen with these mini mortgage payment trucks when diesel is 10 bucks a gallon to futher push the green new steal?
Great video. Found this after buying a beautiful pre-owned 2021 Premiere. Only grip I have is that auto-stop function. The most ridiculous feature Chevy could have added.
ONE MORE THING! : my parents hate apple car play. Don’t like private stuff on screen. CANNOT PLAY MUSIC ON THE USB SETTING IN AUDIO. IT FORCES APPLE CARPLAY
Bought one for the wife a couple weeks ago. High Country Black w brown leather. It’s great. Perfect size. Definitely a bit pricey but offers more than others in its class.
Hi! Looking at getting a 2021 Tahoe LS or Yukon SLE diesel - I will have 4 kids in car seats, you wouldn't happen to know if the 60 part of the 60/40 bench can be removed? Looked everywhere but all I could find is how to fold the seats for 3rd row access.
Call me crazy, but I think the push buttons are The new fad GM has decided to jump on, it’s too curvy and the front end isn’t as bad as the Silverado but still not good. Rear taillights look out of place and it just doesn’t look as tough or as long lasting as an American SUV should be. But I guess we should expect this kind of product from a company that’s jumping on the electric vehicles are the future bandwagon. 🤮
I happen to think Cadillac GM is lacking in a bunch of features like no spare Tire I just bought a 2010 Cadillac srx the seats are not comfortable it dose have the very large sunroof and other features it the headlights are horrible I can barely see at night I just think GM dosen't have a clue on what customers want and the ac had to be replaced I honestly wouldn't recommend this SUV to anyone I think the CEO and or the engineer's do not understand what we want luxury is what Cadillac use to stand for but now I wouldn't buy another Cadillac again I just have a sour taste in my mouth they have cut so many corners for Cadillac I'd say justify its price and put in are seats heated seats Lincoln really dose a awesome job on ac in almost every seat and its ac it also compressor is great step it up Cadillac pretty soon you will be discontinuing the Cadillac all together because no one can justify its Hefty price that's the reason your sales are slumped down.to a minimum if I could say one thing to do CEO of Cadillac Chevrolet GMC quit I also find the 2010 SRX IS VERY noisy you don't know what you're doing. In this market you have to bring your A game. Really very dissatisfied owner of a Cadillac. And my name is brad smyth tell them I told you not to buy a Cadillac.
the rear axel setup looks pretty similar whats in my 08 Cadillac STS. guess they wanted the Tahoe to behave more like a sedan than a truck. i can tell you with good winter tires or good all season tries(like i have on my cadillac) the limited slip setup works well i havent got stuck in the snow and i live in rurall town where the roads are not always plowed that well.
My 2020 1500 High Country doesn’t have the power pedals and I hate not having those. I also wish Chevy/GM would come out with a way to add the surround vision cameras to my truck as it only came with the backup and trailer hitch camera. 3 views. I really could use those other cameras. I do like the power tailgate though.
Fog lights or a must for bad weather visibility, and when you get rid of the solid axle you lower your towing capabilities. And having a family and being able to tow a camper is a must for some.
