When your gundam has no plot armor, a grunt suit can literally just punch it out of commission.

That opening clip from 08th Mobile Suit shows why it’s stylistically my favourite Gundam. The Gundam didn’t feel untouchable or ridiculous, they just felt heavily armoured. The armour was pitted and cracked when it got hit, and the suits took a real beating throughout the show. If I remember correctly, Sanders has his Gundam disabled by a group of Magella attack tanks at one point.

Moody's death is what I see happening to a mobile suit in the Zoids universe. Without plot armor, they get the same treatment. The Zaft pilots must have taken some sick pleasure pulling that stunt. One was enough. Three? This scene also heats what happened to Nicol.

Remember the Gundam Universe is vast, so the rate of "Main" units getting destroyed by basic everyman type units skyrockets in theory.

I think an honorable mention should be given to Graham taking out one of the Gundam Thrones in his Flag

I'm surprised you didnt include Gundam 00, it had the Gundam Thrones getting their ass kicked but not destroyed by new mass produced mobile suits with gn drives and the Gundam kyrios was destroyed by two of the same mobile suits but with better pilots that one hurt the most cause kyrios was favorite.

Imagine if the gundam series has no plot armor and highly trained soldiers are not getting blow up after a graze on the toe of their MS.

Flauros,heavily damaged by Dainsleif Grazes and finished off by battleships 4. Gusion Rebake Full City,heavily damaged by dainsleifs and finished off by 2 grazes 5. ELS Arios Ascalon,beaten by the Tieren Kyitwo 6. Harute,shot down by an off-screen ELS unit 7. Zabanya,completely inoperable after setsuna's conversation with the ELS 8. GRM Gundam,infected by ELS but was saved by Setsuna's convo with ELS (not sure this one counts) if we're talking about gundam-like suits, 9. Pale Rider,beaten by the Marchosias unit 10. Astray Blue Frame,beaten by 2 Daggers considering you counted Cima's gelgoog, 11. AGE-1,beaten by Zedas R in the colony,but spared

0:30 FYI, the RX-79 [G] Ground Gundam IS a mass production suit. It's a grunt suit and the only one with the Gundam moniker that i'm aware of.

Technically that acguy didn’t take out a gundam. Yes it is called the gundam ground type but all it really is, is a gm that has been modified with a gundam head.

um a slight correction on the battle of the destroy gundam at new berlin. it was the archangel that shot down neo's wingdom. kira asked ramius to handle him while he concentrated on the destroy.

First example: Gundam Ground Types aren't really the same...They're still Mass production models and outmatched by Doms by far...

I feel like the Trinity Gundams, Zwei and Dri, from Gundam 00 should be on this list. Both were destroyed by mobile armors. Zwei was destroyed by a single shot from the remains of the Dynamis' mobile armor after the Gundam's remains fled, and Dri was destroyed in a horrific fashion by the Empriss because the mobile armor's pilot had lost her mind and wanted nothing but vengeance for her family.

Honorable mention: Yzak & Athrun Zakus vs Sting and Auel gundams. Its not destroyed but still beaten.

Very good. Not sure if they qualify for this list but Team Trinity in Gundam 00 got their asses handed to them by the GN-X mobile suits. While Trinity wasn't exactly Celestial Being quality Gundams, I do think they qualify as they certainly weren't stock mobile suits. Just a suggestion.

Still haven't watched the video yet, my stance stills the same: Accguy beating Karen's Ground gundam. The Zaku FZ, an obvious mention The Chaos gundam, the Blue Duel and the Verde buster. Maybe something from ibo too? None that I could remember tho'

This video misses several other examples of Gundams being taken out by grunts. The Deathscythe (and arguably Sandrock) in Gundam Wing, the Gusion in IBO, etc.

08th MS team isn't a Gundam, it's a "grunt" mobile suit like the GM series.

5:05 The Blue Duel Gundam... so many bad decisions went into the design of that one. The unremovable shield, the unpurgable armor, the absolutely baffling lack of effective weaponry for such a slow machine. It's a real shame because the Gundam itself is quite cool appereance-wise.

Funny story with this video. I woke up this morning but was still half asleep. I clicked on this video got 5 seconds in and crashed. I then woke up wanting to rewatch this and noticed it was taken down. I thought this video was just a fever dream

Props to Bernie Weisman. Total newb pilot in a barely functional Zaku FZ, armed only with a heat hawk and some booby traps, managed to take out the Federation's state of the art mobile suit.

Duel Gundam of Yzak: Survived Seed, destroyed Raider and Forbidden without the Assault Shroud while it took both Freedom and Justice with Meteor Units to destroy Calamity. Upgraded Duel Gundam of Mudie: Only had less than 3 minutes of screentime and was owned by BuCues

An amazing fight where a grunt won for me. was the solo-one on one duel between Yuji Arkana’s GM Striker and Cortez’s Pixie Gundam. (In the manga: “Mobile suit Gundam: we’re federation hooligans.) Where Yuji was able to take down a pixie Gundam using his beaten, one-armed GM striker in a boxing match (even after the fact pixie had destroyed 7 other mobile suits (who’d teamed up on him all at once) trying to pursue him.) The ending was the most epic thing ever!!! When Yuji uppercutted Cortez in the cockpit so hard, he ripped the pixie RIGHT OFF ITS OWN STANDING LEGS! Look it up. Best fight ever!

I gotta give a shout out to Graham Aker piloting the Flag in Gundam 00. First he forces the Throne Gundam to a humiliating retreat. Then he trashes Setsuna’s Exia. Sure he caught Setsuna at the end of an intense battle, but I was always very impressed with his abilities. A great pilot who pushed his “Grunt” unit to its absolute max performance 💯

7:50 - I'd call this one more of a stalemate, since the suits pretty much wrecked each other. Also the pilot of the Alex survived, while the pilot of the Zaku didn't.

Did you forget about the Kyrios and Virtue from 00? The GN-X was probably the most shockingly effective MS in all of Gundam.

That Bernie Fight always hit me in the feels; while I'm not sure where I would put 0080 as of yet when it comes to fave series, I do appreciate that the series took a focus more on the Zeon side, if only for a bit.

We need more violent deaths like Moody's in other Gundam series. It teaches the consequence of other's actions in war. I'm glad Iron Blooded Orphans followed down that path as it made the story a lot more interesting.

Just one of the reasons why I hate Kou. He absolutely wasted the first variation and the GP01-FB. And Bernie is a freaking legend. Too bad he's now burgers.

The Gundam Gusion Rebake Full City was taken down by grunts, but they were armed with orbital bombardment weapons, so not sure if it counts. There's also the Gundam Pixie, defeated for the first time by the planned mass-production type Efreet (although the eventual fate of both pilots wasn't clear), and the Mudrock Gundam, defeated canonically by a Dom, a Zaku II, and a Zaku I Commander in Zeonic Front.

For all it's gundams being super-durable, Wing Gundam has a couple examples to various extents. Sandrock was used as a decoy and destroyed in combat with Oz, Wing was taken out by Virgos, and Deathscythe was defeated by Tauruses. Their hulks tended to be rebuilt, but they were taken down.

Nice vid, Mudie's death and the Blu Duel's destruction is really brutal. On the other hand, Chaos' destruction has always been a lackluster happening to me. The one thing in my mind was the scene would've been better if the Murasame Pilots where the three Girls Piloting the Astrays' in Seed. A shame that it was done by nameless inconsequential mooks. The Verde Buster's destruction on the other hand is more of a 'The pilot bit more than he can chew'. Not bad though, it shows the consequences of ones action.

Well according to your recent "what if" series, what Bernie did was not meaningless at all! He single-handedly stopped total TITANS dominance and saved countless spacenoids.

I don't like Nina bitched around about the Gundams and yet was also vomiting in war time. She didn't help Kou with the calculations and basically NTR'd him with Gato. Does Johnny Ridden's battle with the Full Armor Gundam count?

I would say the Gelgoog's freebie would count. That would most likely be categorized as a mission kill. Unit 1 was in no shape to fight, but Unit 1 had a better chance than the Cosmic Era units either out of energy, or already crippled when killed. I think it and the ALEX are the only units on this list mentioned that were actually bested, one on one, by a grunt unit in a straight up fight.

RIP Gundam Barbatos and Gusion.

Bernie taking down the Alex is still one of the best and saddest moments.

Honestly, the gundams that were part of the group's that did terrible things....I felt like they got what they deserved. Including their pilots

Theres that one time Yzak Joule with his Slash Zaku Phantom took on multiple Gundams and won. They weren't really destroyed but it does go to show just how much Coordinators outclass Naturals in piloting ability, especially with one as experienced as Yzak.

That Stella Louissier death scene and blue duel Gundam deaths Kinda still hurt me internally to this day tbh
