I have used a few of these over the years. My experience is that typically the 4 battery models outlast the 2 battery models. All of them eat batteries if you use them much. Sometimes the jittering and odd noises have to do more with the crimping of the lid than the opener. I finally gave up and bought a Hamilton Beach Smooth Cut countertop A/C model that I’ve had 7 or 8 years. I am much happier! It is much faster and never stalls. I got really tired of the battery models quitting halfway through a can only to find I was out of batteries. This presents a real problem. When the batteries die, the cutter and gear remain engaged to the can and you cannot remove the opener from the can. If the battery door is on the bottom, its removal is blocked by the lid of the can. You must destroy it to get it off. Most of the time, that also bends the top of the can so you can’t completely cut the lid with another opener. The Hamilton Beach is $35 at BB&B before coupons. I think I paid about the same at Walmart years ago. Love your videos and Bailey!

have had a tornado for about a year it needs batteries about once every two months. it does struggle more with very large cans but with my arthritis it helps. large standard can openers you sometimes have to hold the can up while the can turns and makes my hands hurt so these are great if your disabled.

Please show a comparison of how difficult it is to remove the lid from the opener when the batteries die half way through opening a can. I actually have an updated version of the Kitchen Mama, which is a bit smaller and lacks the automatic stop feature. I settled on that one at a hefty $35 based on reviews. It's probably been a year or more at this point of opening 4-12 cans lf cat food a day and it's saved my dang hands! That price tag is hefty, but I can't say it doesn't live up to it in endurance and reliability. I would kill for an automatic stop feature, though, which is why I eagerly looked up this video when I saw his brief one year recap. Best advice I can give you is this: buy a 4 pack of rechargeable AA batteries and a charger. When it seems like the can opener is starting to go slower/more weakly, swap out the batteries. It can really sneak up on you and otherwise you'll go through a ton of batteries.

I injured my right hand last year. For a while I couldn't use a manual can opener at all. Now that it's been over 12 months since I've injured my hand, it's probably about as healed as it'll ever be. And even though I now have the ability to use a manual can opener, it is very difficult and painful. I had really hoped that I would get back 100% use of my hand, but it seems it is not to be. These little hands free battery operated openers would fit the bill for my needs. But I've never used one, so I was happy to see how they work. Thank you

I've bought the electric Hamilton Beach can opener, the tall one for large cans. Approximately, once a year I've had to buy a new one and I've been buying it for many years now. The part that holds the magnet the part that is attached to the cutting mechanism looks like it is made of metal but it's not, it's plastic, keeps breaking, presumably from the weight of the can. Not being really aware of any better opener that will accommodate tall cans, I have accepted the cost each year, as the cost of convenience. I looked into the warranty since it has a sticker saying it has a 5 year warranty. It's not worth paying to send it to the company (which is mandatory under the warranty) and to pay for them to send it back if repaired or to pay to have them send a new one (you pay for shipping fees both ways according to the trends of the warranty). These battery operated ones seem convenient but I don't want to keep paying for batteries. And I really don't want to spend the extra money for chargeable batteries. What is really like to find is a can opener that actually has metal parts. If anyone reads this and knows of one, let me know please? Thanks! Good video demonstration!

The Instecho - Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looked like it opened cans from the outside, rather than inside? It explains why the juice was dripping outside as well. That sort of can opening has its place, but it's not what is usually intended by the manufacturers or particularly desired by the consumer for that matter.

Battery operated openers come in handy if there is a power outage such as storm/Hurricane/travel type thing. Unfortunate for me I have the slowest one, tornado F4. I was glad to know his observation was as mine.

I purchased an original 'One Touch' can opener back around 2007 and it worked great for over 10 years. I paid $5 for it and it was the best can opener I've ever owned.

Just at the unboxing stage, one can tell the Instecho is either going to be the best or the worst, because it doesn't have a pun in its name.

How did those times compare to the time it would take to open those same cans with the best of the manual can openers you previously reviewed? I used to own countertop electric can openers many years ago, but long since switched to manual can openers with comfy handles (love the Oxo Good Grips!). I suppose if my hand strength were to decrease substantially, a hands-free can opener would make sense for me, but it doesn't yet.

Amen to OXO good grips. Best kitchen products ever.

Just wondering what did you cook with all them canned food items? And when you did the egg test what did you make with those 220-30+eggs?

The odds are pretty good they were all made in China. As for where to get them I think he said they were bought from Amazon.

Great video as always I just wish they would come out with one like these openers that is rechargeable I used to own one it ate through batteries like nobody's business especially if it's used in a Family household more than three people for single person maybe yes but batteries go out fast

They really should put out more rechargeable options in this category.

You could try rechargeable batteries. They work well for most (but not all) devices.

I have used and purchase for friends the Farberare hands free can opener. I had mine for 5 years, very happy until this year! It was running low and we changed the battier but the can opener was caught on a medal can. The lip wouldn't release. So base you next episode on 1. easy batter change 2. how long does it last and 3. once can open how shape is the lid. I watched you video and still couldn't decide which one was best for us. Didn't like that the one we had last 6 years, and its a Walmart product not sold everywhere. There are some good reviews on You Tube. thanks for doing this video.

I bought mine new in package from the thrift store. I really love it but it doesn’t open tiny tomato paste cans. There is a size limit to them so you still need a regular one too. I tend to have the worst luck with regular hand held can openers; they tend to break or misalign too quickly no mater brand or price. These handfree kind can jam with the paper label or “crash” and stop when not aligned but they’re fairly easy to reset. I definitely recommend having one.

we had two of these but none in the review, first one was One Touch brand and second was Black and Decker's Gizmo

We live in a time where watching someone opening cans with cans openers entertaining.. that cut thought made me laugh my guts out . Perfect timing .

The consideration I was watching, was the time it took to open cans of the same size. I think Handy Can was one of the fastest. I can use a manual one a lot quicker but of course can’t make lid edges smooth.
