Just found this video & as my late dad started to build & I still build 5" live steam most interested in the Esdaile name & this engine. See my Dad, Earnest Morris did his instrument fitter apprenticeship with Esdaile & Sons was the same age as Jack & a close friend. So far I have built 2-8-0 Nigel Gresly, 0-4-0 Blowfly & just finished 0-4-2 Lion. Love to here/see more about this engine & track.
C30 I am a member of Lake Macquarie Live Steam Locomotive club Edgeworth NSW. We run the last sunday each month if you wish to see the engines run. Maye one day I will do some videos.
Not sure to be honest. It was built prior to 1968 by a Jack Esdaile who was part of Esdaile and Sons who made scientific instruments in Hunter St. Sydney. They made various theodolites etc and developed a "cable tension gauge" that was used in the construction of Sydney Harbour Bridge. I've found no record of drawings or anything so I presume it was a one-off.
Any particular reason sticks and dead leaves are being used in the fire? I use char in the little blowfly I have, but shes a bit younger than this beauitful old loco.
