Love your editing style! Are you influenced by Asumsaus by chance? Also, what programs do you use to make videos and what is your general work flow like? Sorry if that is too much to ask!

I love Asumsaus’ videos, I take inspiration from his editing style. I think he (along with other creators) have pushed Melee content to a greater standard in terms of how polished it can be. The way he manipulates Melee visuals and his use of sound design are two things I want to push more into my videos. It allows for more creative freedom that’s harder to do with just “Melee gameplay”. There are some upcoming projects where I want to really push this so look out for that! I use Adobe Premiere for video editing, After Effects for visual effects, Audition for audio editing, and Photoshop for the thumbnail. I’m always tinkering with my workflow to maximize efficiency and quality, but this is how I went about it for this video. 1. Before I start working on a video, I establish what the purpose/concept of my video will be. There are other factors I weigh in but that’s the main one. 2. I then jot down all my thoughts in a Word doc. From there I go through and cut out what I do and don’t want from the video. Usually, I go through two drafts before I reach my final script. 3. After that I record my audio in Audition (while recording my facecam), edit my vocals and plop it into Premiere. 4. In Premiere, I listen to the audio while marking points in the video where I want a specific clip, edit or sound effect. For more complex edits, I write a comment describing the visual in my head that I want to present. I’m constantly writing down notes throughout my workflow for how I want the video to look. 5. I then gather my footage and make a VERY rough draft of my video excluding any sound design or visual effects. 6. Once I have this set I go onto create the edits either in Premiere or After Effects. 7. Once all the visuals are set, I add sound effects and music to finish off the video. 8. Lastly, I play around in Photoshop until I get a presentable thumbnail. If you’re interested, I have a video on my Patreon where I go more in-depth. My only tier is $1 so you can become a patron, watch the video, and not renew. I hope my answer is satisfying and helps you out. 😊
