I have been absent from this page for awhile. (personal/health issues - not bourbon related) - 83K+subscribers - way to go. I remember when there were 2,500 subscribers -- well done !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Hey, we appreciate that a lot! We actually have a sample already from some friends and I think we’ll have enough to do our blind best of the year rankings and a review video for it in December, but thank you so much for the offer!
No problem, I’m excited to see what you think about it. I think it’s pretty great but to be honest i’d take an OESV private select over it but that’s just my taste. The best bourbon is the one you like to drink however you like to drink it and I just hope you enjoy the 2021 LE as much as I enjoy your channel so cheers and happy holidays.
Just finished a bottle of Saints Alley this holiday. Outstanding! Can't speak to the Bardstown as I've never had it, but Saints was great! I need to try their other two expressions.
Great show, guys, I'm limited to what I can get here in the 🇬🇧, but my local spirits store had Stagg Jr batch 14 which I really enjoyed, Ironroot is very interesting and have just ordered their Texas Ligation online which is their only product available here, which I'm looking forward to
Good video guys. My comments are as follows: I was (and am) not able to get any of the 5 original liquors from my VA ABC stores; of the substitutes mentioned, the only one available to me is the Old Forester 1897 (and frankly I like the 1910 & 1920 better); I am not a fan of wine or other previously-used alcohol barrels, hence I would buy neither the Bardstown or the Saints Alley products; and lastly, as far as I am aware, it is illegal in Virginia to ship any alcohol into the state that does not come through the ABC monopoly--so all of your private barrel picks and blends are unobtainable unless I travel in person to your location to pick them up. So I guess this is a lesson to all Bourbon-drinkers and Bourbon aficionados--don't let your state or commonwealth control the distribution of alcohol--you will always be on the wrong side of free-market trade.
The non-control states are really no better. Yours and others’ comments only serve to illustrate the COMPLETE failure of the original 3 tier system that was implemented in the early 1900s (almost 100 years now). The distilleries could serve their actual market better if they could sell directly to them.
1st off I would like to thank both of you for everything you share about good bourbons. I am a disabled veteran, So money is tight. Right now I am totally hooked on maker's mark cask strength. What would be the 5 good bourbons under a price tag of $75? And I'm thinking about playing around with a good rye, More so than the wheat. Remember I'm just a beginner don't hurt me. Look forward to your insight.
Starting to get a little fomo for MM FAE-02. Got the 01 earlier, but none of the 02 available in my area. I just got my first bottle of Rebel 10 year tonight after 2 years of looking, so it isn't exactly a rich hunting ground, but I did manage a Russell's 13 and an EC toasted this year though, but had to get drawn in a store lottery to get them.
I grabbed a 1792 full proof store pick a few days ago and damn it’s tasty. I get chocolate chip banana muffin on the regular release, and this one kicks the banana crumb cake flavor up to 15. The four Roses single barrels are super easy to find in my area of Georgia btw. They are at almost every liquor store that I frequent.
Believe it or not... I was VERY fortunate to get a Four Roses LE Small Batch 2021 Release Barrel Strength donated to me.... O_O. I've said that I really enjoyed the bottle of Four Roses Small Batch Select, so I am very much looking forward to opening up a LE version. I will admit that the Four Roses Barrel Proof Single Barrels someday, but I have yet to see one of them ANYWHERE thus far.
Speaking of LEs being hard to find, I haven’t seen one ECBP 921 in KY, but I I see them all overs GA whenI visit my daughter. Are we not getting the love this year?
Could be that, or maybe there's just more people in KY keeping an eye out for it and snatching it up when they see it? I've gotta say I haven't seen any ECBP C921 in the wild in KY this year.
My biggest FOMO was russells 13. Last year it was masters keep 17. Still bummed about both. I did buy a wb saffell to make up for it. Very tasty! Worth twice the price of regular Russels reserve sb? Probably not, but not disappointed i bought it.
I’m a huge Russells/WT fan and I got a RR13 this year (for too much $$) and I gotta say in a blind a couple of my Russell’s store picks easily beat it. I think the hype got a little crazy with the limited amounts of it out there. Don’t feel too bad
FOMO's? This year it was Blue Note 17 and the Russell's Reserve 13. Didn't even sniff an opportunity for either of them. But, I did score a bottle of Old Carter Straight Rye barrel strength (batch #8) that was easily my personal Whiskey of the Year. I'm afraid to keep drinking it as I don't know when I'll have a chance at another bottle...
Probably biggest regret is Jack Daniel's 10 Year, my local store got one case, sold out instantly. Seeing it go for double on secondary, if not more. Good list of alternatives, although I have to chuckle because another local store near me has Elijah Craig Toasted and asking $179 for it. I just shake my head every time.
Just for reference I payed 114 Canadian for EH Taylor small batch in a non government but chain store (Sobeys) Returning after a week to see only 1 bottle after initially seeing 4 on the shelf kind of forced my hand :/
I haven't had the chance at a lot of LE bottles. I think the only LE I have had is angels envy 2020 CS and KC 12 year cask which I need to blind against my 2 14 yo sib that I did the year that was released. I really wish I could have gotten some Russell's 13 or any WTMK release.
Here in Wisconsin, every single bourbon listed is impossible to find.. maybe Old Forester bottled in bond but that's about it for availability in the lovely drunk Wisconsin
@@LeatherDaddy97 ne wi most is in lottery ecbp I can walk in and get larceny not so much got my 521 in lottery Stagg jr isn’t easy anymore all lottery a year ago everyone just set out all the good stuff got a lot b vw, WLW,gts and a handy ….
I have a Vanwinkle 10, 12 and a Pappy 15 I would like to sell. Does anyone have any recommendations on how or where to sell? I'm asking $3900 for the set and they are located in upstate New York
There is no such thing as an alternative limited edition bourbon. I have never seen a limited edition bourbon in the wild and I have been of drinking age way before the bourbon boom.
