This video improved my alternate picking immensely when it was posted years ago. Years later, the exercises in this video are still beneficial. There are a lot of alternate picking tutorials available, but this is definitely one of the best.

I love all your videos man!!!!! Perfect balance between functional riffs/ techniques but are also fun usable rippers keeping you engaged! I find there are usually all out theory modal practice type stuff without much function and then there's the beginner basic lets go over what the pentatonic scale looks like first type videos.

When you demonstrate Lick #5 you show down picking the first note of each string sequence. When you play the lick at full speed you are alternating between up and down on the first note of the sequence. I know this is an "alternate" picking exercise but a novice like me looks at how you are demonstrating it slowly to get the pattern down. Just a helpful hint that maybe you could point out what you are doing with the picking hand as well. Cheers and thanks for the kick-ass lessons!

could you lay out your signal flow I'm in the process of moving into an apartment and I need to go from just playing through amp to going through logic for mac.. the two notes is interesting do you run guitar>amp head>twonotes>interface ? or do you have a preamp ?

You know, you’re such a good player it’s too bad you can’t enjoy playing a slow bluesy solo. Not a series of licks but an actual solo that has a melody to it. Where it’s all about feeling and not speed. A nice slow bluesy solo would probably Bore you to tears. It’s fun to watch you play fast but it’s even more fun to create a solo that contains a melody. I’d rather listen to Clapton play “bellbottoms blues” over your superfast licks any day. 🤷🏻‍♂️
