my highly subjective opinion on what's the best men's brand for each category. 1. lace-up boots (either Redwings or more upscale Viberg/Alden) 2. lace-ups (Allen Edmonds or more upscale Crockett&Jones) 3. Like the guy said about Chelsea boots, not everyone can pull off everything. I think you have to have an inherent style that monk straps can come in too rather than just putting them on. They would be too loud for my style and would look too obvious/try hard on my part. But I know others who pull them off and no one would question it.

Agreed friend, and well said. All too often we fall at the feet of some designer or trend/fad that before we know it has us under it's spell. I mean think about it ? How often have many of us followed a certain trend, not because it's trendy as much as saying to ourselves...... I could pull that off ! And before you know it.....BAM !! Your rocking what's current, and on the fashion treadmill. No a bad thing. It's just harder to escape than most think. Mind you, this is the mindset of an older (50+) individual, who is considered somewhat trendy. It's kind of an anything goes era in the world today. Eye Heart Sushi black or dark brown leather is the way to go. Both are great, but leather is more durable and a bit more versatile, either one, get a shoe protector to spray on to protect it from water and stains ;)

Guys I honestly think that she doesn't deserve all the hate you give her. I mean, sure, maybe some of her picks are not for most of us, but she's saying things from her point of view, as a girl and as someone who works in this industry. JJ I agree with you on that, but those aren’t actually as bad as people make it look like, plus it’s not like she’s sponsored or anything, but she’s speaking from her own taste, and all I’m reading in the comments is not constructive criticism, but all the opposite. I don’t think it’s cool to make sexist or hateful comments just because, or even if they are meant to be constructive criticism they should be written better.

It's all in the phrasing. "Styles Women Love" is actually "Styles Ashley Loves." Phrasing it like that reduces its power but makes it so much more accurate.

One that name is vague does it means she's a celebrity or does she style celebrities. Two she spoke with authority which she has as she is a woman but she doesn't have any authority in mens style. Ashley, your advice well rounded. I have applied a lot of your tips over the last couple of years and I see a difference in the way people perceive me. Not that I was a complete slob, I just notice a difference for the better. And who doesn't want that? And on this video topic: yes every now and then, like at the grocery store, I get this universal facial expression of approval from a random woman. I appreciate it!

Well my style is not much casual leather sneakers or penny loafers, but i have two pairs of chelseas and three of dress shoes. And this weekend i will buy a good pair of Lace-up boats.

Great list. Personally I don't like the new casual leather sneaker, seems a bit try-hard to me - I still prefer canvas basic stuff like Keds or even Vans slip-ons. Chelsea boots are the last pair of shoes I need for my collection. S'kay cause I don't really wear tapered pants cause I'm from the 90's.

Women love shoes, hopefully less than Imelda Marcos. Shoes are really important to them and they judge other women by their shoes. But men don't care what women think of their shoes. They want comfortable functional shoes that last and they don't want to pay tons of money.

Ashley!! Great hair! Dorian, great hair! I love you guys, and I love your videos. Thank you for sharing, and keep up the good work. Also, I'm a shoe geek. I love your style, but in a way I can take your info and make it mine. Yep. I pick my own shoes, but, agreed with all of this. Except Chelsea boots. Still don't like them, but I'm coming around. Although I am one generation older than the presenters, I typically agree with AW on the basics of menswear. Here are two areas where I disagree: First, some of the suits look too much like Pee-Wee Herman's suit. They appear to be too tight. The second is relevant to the video. I grew up in Arizona, and I've been around sockless men in loafers. After a while, the shoes stink. I mean they reek. Even just seeing some guy going sockless with shoes I can almost smell the aroma of foot stink and leather rot.
