The $300 I spent for an inspection before I bought my rig was worth every penny for the peace of mind alone. Even though the inspection didn't find anything wrong with the RV, just knowing that everything had been gone over with a fine tooth comb, and having that detailed report in my hands, was worth the cost and the time involved in having it done.

Our 1st diesel MH had an electric glitch affecting the motor. In and out of shop. Stranded us several times. Last visit the Rig ignition came on by itself. The repair guy told us it freaked him out because they are built to not do this. Next thing we know they put us in a year newer and stepped up model for what we owed on old one. We were smart and kept a journal with all our papers and conversations. You have to be your own advocate.

My family had several of all types of RVs growing up, both new and used, and have one currently. I think what a lot of people are finding nowadays is that a lot of these rigs are built more for occasional recreation rather than living. We had lots of problems in all of our RVs and they were all different types and brands. RVs are also one of the quickest depreciating moving vehicles you can buy. You have to be really smart and figure out who's doing good work and will really stand behind their product and who isn't. As we saw from your second rig, even very recognized brands have their issues!

When I bought my fifth wheel (Grand Design Solitude) before I even left for the dealer, I spoke with them and told them that any purchase I made was contingent upon them allowing my private inspector in the rig to conduct a full inspection for me. They agreed to this otherwise I would have walked away.

after watching lots and lots of videos I was shocked to learn about the weight limits!! basically they load it up and all that is left is you and your suitcase.

Robin, you are such an encourager! There are problems with everything ever made. We don't notice many of them, because we are used to it, or because the bugs have been worked out over time (think: wheels).
