Nobody is talking about Calender man? Origins takes place on Christmas or Chris eve and knight takes place on Halloween, literally the holiday killer and he doesn’t even get a side mission.

yeah this is a very big possibility. The thing is the way these Arkham games are written and the way comic book characters are written in general there's plenty of ways to get out of a death. I hope that was actually the case because it was a pretty big waste of a character Arc.
I think you're right, in Arkham City his mask was clearly fused to his face to the extent where the mask's mouth would move when he talks. In Knight it was just a plain mask, so unless it got unfused from his face inbetween games, that'd be an odd mistake

Yeah! They built him up well in City but they ballsed it up in Knight. I've often thought Hush could play a part in Bruce coming back to Gotham because Hush looks just like Bruce. I wonder what they could do with that

There could’ve been such a great fight where he ducked into a building and tried to ambush you but you’re trying to out navigate one another to see who gets the drop on whom. He could leave bombs in the vents or shoot into the vents and such. The environment could change over time. Then after that section you have very really intense and strangely timed combat with him where you have to be aggressive but your counter timing has to be perfect and you have to counter his frequent counters.
I didn't even get to battle him.. My game glitched and we lagged half way across the map into the water and batman was putting into the back of the car and then we sunk into the water before teleporting to Land and that's all...

Would've been cool to see him in Origins pre-transformation, since originally he was just a creepy guy with a mask and a lot of knives; could've had him as a side mission and when you beat him he vows revenge, leading to what it said in his bio where he stole hazardous compounds to turn himself into a meta.
That wasn't really Rocksteady. They literally took Calendar Man from the Long Halloween and Dark Victory storyline which are amazing. Rocksteady or WB Montreal really could have slipped a game doing that combined storyline in between Origins and Asylum and it would have been amazing narratively. It also would have had the added benefit of not being Joker centric (while he is my favorite character, he was tragically overused in the Arkham games).

A way they could have used Hush greatly is to make him the mastermind behind Knight. For example, we were never told how Jason got the money to find his militia and get all of those tanks and gear. Hush would’ve stolen Bruce’s money and given it to Scarecrow and Jason. While this is going on, he is committing crimes and framing Bruce to turn the public against him.

He's physically stronger and thinks faster so the fact that he couldn't tank that hit or anticipate it goes to show how little the developers payed attention to his character

There’s this underused Batman villain called the Joker, really feel like they could have done more with his character and honestly would have liked to see him appear in more of the games

Likely a time constraint. There are updated designs all around but Deathstroke's model is from Origins. Same with Black Mask in the Red Hood DLC. There are a couple side missions which were either cut short or didn't make it into the game. The Zsasz cameo was supposed to lead into a final confrontation but it didn't work out.
Mine was Scarecrow. I was so disappointed in his utilisation in Knight. After the scenes in Asylum, where people actually thought their game broke, I just expected more. I would absolutely LOVE a psychological thriller with Scarecrow as the main villain.
Phantom Sky I would’ve had hush be the Arkham knight instead of Jason Todd. The whole Batman:Hush story would’ve been great instead Scarecrow and the and setting up the Knightfall protocol. They set up Azrael though which is cool, and he’ll most likely be in Arkham Legacy.
Apparently Paul Dini’s original idea for Arkham knights main story was to have Scarecrow and Hush working together, but he signed off when rocksteady wanted the Arkham Knight.
That could have worked pretty well. Since the Knight is just a crude spin on the new Red Hood, his identity was obvious as soon as he starts talking in-game. My only cause for doubt was that that was too obvious. (I had no idea that was him the cop talks to at start in the diner, though.)
They should do like a mafia theme villains in the next. Tobias Whale, black mask, scareface, penguin fighting for power. Have people for hire like idk Deadshot, rat catcher, Humpty Dumpties. Side missions for kicks and giggles condiment King lol but in the end Prometheus is pulling the strings working with in the shadows Maximus Zeus.
They have a strange way of explaining the Anarky thing in the video. His title comic ends with the Joker paternity revelation confirmed. Might be true that DC quietly dropped that premise. I think it's mostly fans of the character who wanted it undone, though, as it's a forced story point, it distracts from his character's uniqueness, and it's entirely unnecessary.
After City I was so hyped for Hush ..thought about all the possible scenarios .... Then it happened in Knight and I was so pissed .... Waiting all that time for nothing ...

You know what would have been a great payoff to Hush in Arkham Knight? Have his side mission be Batman investigating Tommy Eliott’s past to find out his plan, his next move. Having him investigating the death of the Eliotts: the old files on GCPD, visiting the site of the accident to run one of those hologram-simulations, finding out Tommy killed his own parents... that would have added much more significance to the Eliott Memorial Hospital to those not familiarized with the Hush comics. Then, in some places, they could have a cop mentioning “sorry, I can’t give you the file, Bruce Wayne came here and bribed someone to take it”, or something, and you must go around the city, tracking this fake Bruce until you find him in Wayne Tower holding Lucius hostage.
What was wasted potential was the whole history of Arkham/conspiracy that you learn from the first game. I believed the Arkham knight was going to connect with that, bringing the story full circle, but no, it’s Jason. In the end Joker remains the constant focus, and people tell me this is a story about Batman and Joker’s relationship, but I feel it should’ve focused all on the legacy of Arkham...I mean, it had the title for each Batman game!

City was the last Arkham game Joker should have been in because, well he died in it. Origins could have been a game about a pre supervillains Gotham City and Knight could have been a game about the other villains last stand against Batman and explored a Gotham City without The Joker and what effects that had. But no Joker hijacks the plot in Origins and in Knight despite him being dead Batman and 4 other people are infected with his blood.

To jog your guys memory, the part where you throw the reverse batarang was in Arkham City where Ra’s Al Ghul takes Taila hostage, while Hush in Arkham Knight you wait for him to aim at you then counter once he does
when I first played Origins I thought it would turn out that Anarky was Jason. Angry young guy skilled in combat, and intelligent who wants to better the world. Batman finds him stops his plans and teaches him a better way.
Clayface and killer croc whereunderused and misused to me. Clayface could have been an awesome side mission with impersonating Gordon and killing people or something. Croc had so much potential for a horror type usage like in the first game
I feel like Two-Face should’ve been in Cold Cold Heart in the party at the beginning. Or a side mission in the game where you play through the events leading up to the mafia throwing acid on his face.
Clayface was hands down the most underused villain. Hush, Black Mask, Deathstroke etc, at least got to be in more than 1 game while Clayface got beaten in Arkham City and that was it for him.
Have the Professor Pyg side mission be Hush would be cool, like he’s killing Wayne employees and Wayne Enterprise opposition, trying to frame Bruce would be cool, even if the final confrontation with him was ultimately the same as it is in the game
I appreciate they agree that Sionis isn't The Most underrated character in this series, since in My opinion, he was meant to represent the old era of Gotham coming to a close, with newbies like the Clown stepping in.
Re Anarky: if in the Arkhamverse Lonnie Machin is deemed cured of his mania and adopted by Bruce Wayne as his new ward, under the name Jason Todd, after Grayson leaves -- for which there's some very interesting side evidence -- then Anarky has a pretty great arc! Even though most of it's offscreen between games. (I swear I'm not intending the puns... {smh})
3:15 Ah, I hadn't kept up enough for the Joker's son dropped-plotline in the comics! Wow, that would reaaalllly tie in well, at least thematically, with the Anarky grafitti art slowly morphing into (something like Heath Ledger's) Joker during the course of Origins! -- a stylistic choice that never gets commented on in the game. Edited to add: some of that Joker-esque art can be seen in the game footage.
Honestly feel like Deathstroke in Arkham Knight should have been a multi phase fight. The 1st phase being the tank boss battle. 2nd Phase he retreats to the rooftops to snipe you down, making it a glide stealth section. And then when you grab him he pulls you both down to the Center of Miagani for a melee fight similar to Origins for the final phase, would have felt like a final boss fight in a lot of ways. And a better send off to Slade in Knight.
Fuck Zsasz he's a lame villian, might as well have Batman fight a actual serial killer from the past like Ted Bundy. Oh look he uses knives and scars himself after killing someone, been there done that, that's nowhere near a Joker, Riddler, or Mr. Freeze level villain. He's more a real life kind of guy.
It would be nice to see her start to get a redemtion arc like we've been seeing in recent years as her as a hero after realizing how abusive Joker was to her
I feel like more could have been done with Deacon Blackfire. Basically any of the one quest side-missions in Knight, but Blackfire especially. The idea of him creating this cult of common criminals could have been better utilised and tied into the plot, imo.
Hiyouredead I think it was Paul Dini’s idea (the lead writer of Asylum and City) to have him as the main antagonist in Knight but Rocksteady thought they could write a better story than the legendary Paul Dini (who btw wrote most of Batman The animated Series episodes) and they were very wrong
I’d say scarecrow. He’s kinda sorta a mini boss in asylum, and in knight, where we thought he would be the main villain... nope. Scarecrow is my favorite Batman villain and they did him dirty.
@He-Man I disagree. In the hush story it was revealed that Riddler was the one truly behind everything, they could have easily done that but just have ot be scarecrow instead. There are alot of stories in comics showing that scarecrow has what it takes to be a main villain

I remember when I beat a mission in knight deathstroke was like "I've got a bigger tank" or something. I was like there is no way it isn't a hand to hand fight. That's so disappointing.
hush's side mission was so enjoyable to play through, i loved feeling like a real detective whilst playing arkham city, truly my favourite batman game of all time.
I feel like joker and mr freeze were the strongest villains in the series I agree 100% with this list so here’s some that weren’t mentioned in no particular order 1. Riddler(felt like he could’ve been a key player in the overall plot 2. Bane (while he was better in origins I I personally didn’t like that he was introduced in jokers story rather than having his own plan and stuff feels too early for bane to show up and for him breaking Batman’s back to make an impact) 3. Lady Shiva ( I love her and wanted more of her that is all lmao wish they’d introduce Cassandra Cain into the mix) 4. Manbat (felt like he was just an add on to the game) 5. Red Hood (Tho technically a anti hero, he was still the title villain of the final game, and felt there wasn’t enough build up to him in previous games, and was out of character for him to work with villains and they don’t bring the no kill rule code into the mix with his character arc and dynamic with Bruce)

I love Two Face, one of the best Batman villains. And i love his design and Troy's voice which is a perfect impression of the DCAU version. But they do nothing with him in any of the games. DISAPPOINTING 👎
I didn’t mind the black mask/joker reveal because it was so well executed. Where the really dropped the ball was not bringing BM back in a more meaningful way. I thought it would be cool to have him break into black gate at the end to try and kill joker. It pays off the threat he made to Batman about saying “he’s my kill not yours” while mirroring what happens at the beginning of the game (except this time it’s actually him).
One thing that always bugged me about Black Mask is that in Asylum his bio (which isn't necessarily canon I know) it states that he has that wooden mask that gets burned stuck to his skin (and then Dr. Young has that on her wall right, which is.. really messed up) and then in City when you see him at the start, he seems to be made like that, with his mask burned stuck and a permanent feature on him, but then in Knight, in the DLC, he's clearly wearing a mask? Uhm wut? I'll never get that. And yea, it's a mask in Origins too but that's several years earlier and feels fine because of that because that whole burn débâcle could happen whenever in between Origins and Asylum
Electrocutuoner: one of 8 top assassins brought to Gotham to take out Batman, only to be defeated by a single punch then later killed by Joker. While annoyed that Deadshot and Lady Shiva were relegated to side missions in origins and not part of main plot like other assassins, at least they felt better utilized
I'm not too familiar with the comic version of Anarchy but I enjoyed the Beware The Batman CGI cartoon version where he was an all-white version of Batman representing white chaos to Batman's black order. Another underrated character is the Arkham Knight, I always thought he should've been a robot like D.A.V.E. from The Batman episode "Gotham's Ultimate Criminal Mastermind" or even H.A.R.D.A.C. from the Animated Series. D.A.V.E. was intelligent enough to deduce Batman's identity and was created by Hugo Strange who built Arkham City, The Arkham Knight could been a fail-safe robot to finish what Strange started.
Too bad they didn't go with that, it's MUCH better than simply using Jason Todd. If they wanted to incorporate Jason into the game, they should've just did a Red Hood origin, not an altered version of it and say it's an original character.

I'd say all of this is true, especially for Deathstroke, he has always been my favorite villain and they kinda ruined him in Arkham Knight. Generally he is made out to be an formidable hand-to-hand combat fighter and then that talent was wasted on a tank battle
Meanwhile, let's see. For a criminally underused villain, I'd say Deacon Blackfire might tie with Hush. Is it better or worse that Hush got an awesome buildup in City, only to be dumped off in a quick-time event? Blackfire got no buildup before Knight, and is famous for breaking the Bat mentally -- something that absolutely doesn't happen in his one combat-mission (fun though that fight is on its own merits, but nothing that dropping into a rioting mob randomly roaming the streets couldn't replicate). Granted, I'm not a big fan of Blackfire, and seeing him shifted over to a faux-Southern-cornpone preacher doesn't help, but still. This guy took over Gotham and turned it into a war zone in his mini series, with Batman as his brainwashed slave (temporarily, unrealistic though that part might be), and supposedly he's even the reason why Batman re-engineered the Batmobile to be a tank (famously to be brought back 'later' for Dark Knight Returns and his battle against the Mutant gang.) And _this_ was all they did with him? Yeesh.
For me it was the scarecrow, in the second game there were several clues that indicated that he would return as the biggest challenge for batman, when the advertising for the third game came out they sold it to you with the scarecrow being the main villain, the city was completely his and the rest Villains were at his command, he had everything to be the final contender in the saga. You would think that after YEARS of anticipation for his return he would be the biggest threat in the game, but in the end you don't even fight him and the Arkham Knight and the Joker (even being dead) get more attention than him, even the game is called batman: arkham knight.
That's literally impossible, Batman has over 100 villains and more than half are crazy popular so no unless you are planning on making a game that's over 10 hours long you can't do anything.

I kinda wish Poison Ivy got to be playable at some point like Catwoman and Harley, and we could have had the Gotham City Sirens. Plus it would have been cool to see how they utilise her plant powers in gameplay

Origins did wonders for Bane. He had a cool introduction in Asylum, but the fact that he disappears after the boss fight, and there are a ton of enemies just like him afterwards really made him feel lesser. Then asylum teased him for City, but his mission ended up being little more than a fetch quest and an unimportant side quest at that. Origins did him justice though. Really made him out to be that intelligent, eloquent awesome fighter he is.
Unfortunately no. The major problem with Origins was cramming in too many villains who weren't around that early in Batman's career. Spoils the sense that the insanely criminal element of Gotham grew and changed over time. Bane in particular is a crime boss, not a cult leader. Origins basically copied a mistake from DK Rises, there.
While I wouldn't say that zsasz is underused. After playing a pretty decent role in both arkham city and asylum I would of liked to see the end to his story in knight.

I actually really love Black Mask as a character but he was the freaking Joker the whole time and was never seen again unless you did the chemical canister side mission to fight him in the church but he was so cool his voice and character design was so cool.
In the hush take down in Arkham knight if you complete the main mission before completing the side missions. Bat man just takes off his mask revealing that he is Bruce Wayne because scare crow already exposed him. Hush is then taken back and that's how you stop him.
I heard a theory a while back that instead of arkham knight being one of the main villains in arkham knight, hush was supposed to be one of the main villains. And i thought that could have been an even better option than having jason be a villain in AK.
The joker twist in origins is probably the thing i hated most about it. I love the joker, he's one of my favourite villains in all of fiction but he had his spotlight in asylum and city. They should have actually used sionis instead because i loved the idea of black mask putting a bounty on your head and having assassins come after you.
Re-watching your older arkham video's after (finally) completing Arkham Knight myself. Gonna start over with Origins, then Asylum, City and Knight once more (maybe?)

Black Mask not being the main villain in Origins is a crime. Literally if you think about it was never him. In the trailers it was joker in the beginning of the game until reveal it was joker.
