Well, for a start the Harley Benton TE52 shits all over the Squier Tele. In fact its better than a lot of Fenders.

You didn't mention the Schecter C6 Deluxe or the C6 Elite at 299.00. Great guitars for not a lot of money. Sterling by Music Man has around three models to choose from. Excellent guitars for the money. Michael Kelly Guitar offer several models too. So there are many in the $500 and less category. Good video B side!
