Hendrix, Page, and Clapton are three who had Danelectro 59s and loved them. 59 NOS is the same except for a modern bridge, and i mean the same. To my mind, its the only "Hero" guitar you can park in your...guitar room for almost used starter guitar price. Non reactive masonite body, pickups originally made from actual lipstick containers make the guitar distinct. The quirky construction and adherence to the pickup design prevents the manufacturer from price hiking this model.
Played my Classic Vibe Strat literally an hour ago and a few days ago a similar to your recomendation but older Dano. Spot on about both. Love this channel!
As much as I love Tokai guitars, I'm really liking the Yamaha Revstar RS 420's...a bit of a stripped down version but very playable with excellent sounding pickups.
@@shawnbenz I also have a PRS and have owned Gibson as well, I would seriously consider a a Yamaha if you're looking for something different. I currently have three Yamaha guitars.
I got a fifty dollar Ibanez rgt42, best guitar I've ever had, the only reason it was 50 is because it was missing a piece of the body. Definitely check out your local music go round for awesome guitars under 150, but I recommend a setup before you play.
Great review. It's truly amazing how much unique and high quality gear is out there retailing for under $500. It sure wasn't like this back in the 60s and 70s...
I have 3 Yamaha RSE20 guitars that play and sound better than the 2 Gibson 2022 studio "s I have and each of the studio"s are more expensive than the 3 Yamaha"s.
Just about any made in Indonesia Squier Strat is a good buy. I bought two 40th Anniversary Strats in the past year and they were bargains. Any guitar you buy for under $500 is likely to need setup work. Action might be high and intonation could be off. Still if you have the fret ends cleaned up and setup the action and intonation most Squiers can be gig worthy.
I helped a cousin pick out a first guitar with a limit of 500…. Told him to choose between a sterling by musicman cutlass, schecter omen, and an esp ltd
I've bought a couple of months ago a Squier Mustang CV 60's and its my "go to" guitar, although I have some Fender MIM (a Strat and a Tele) and a Gibson LP Special P90 👍 Ps: my Tele cost me straight from the box less than 500€ back in 2013...
TEXAS FLOOD....SRV...on the album cover look @ what it says on the headstock ..... it's not a Fender...but a Tokai...! Stevie apparently loved this guitar ...find one, buy it.
I recently purchased a Paranormal Cabronita Thinline Telecaster in sunburst and I love it! I have a few Squiers and the only Squier that I would say is on par (but not quite) with the Player Series is the Squier Standard Series from a few years back. Those Squiers are fantastic with Agathis bodies and dark rosewood fretboards and Alnico pickups which sound really really good! If anybody finds one, get it! But the Player Series is a great series of guitars!
Nice list. I would add the G&L Tribute series ASAT Deluxe. I got to try one the other day, and it’s basically the Custom Telecaster FMT for half the price! Speaking of G&L, how about a video on your top brands that are not Fender/Squier or Gibson/Epiphone? Maybe Yamaha?
If you’re looking for a great strat copy, go find an old USA peavey predator. Made in the USA and the wood is great in quality. The electronics are so so, but you can one for under 250 easy and just get a prewired pick guard and you’ll have a great usa made strat for well under 500.
Nice list. If you like baritones, look into Dan Electro made Danoblaster Innuendo Baritone. It has built in effects and a vibrato bar. The effects aren't great, but I'm sure you could find one you like when your in a wild mood. The are huge sleepers that came out about 15 to 20 years ago and were discontinued after a short run. They can be had dirt cheap. I owned one but sold it for around the same price I bought it for used which was 350 dollars. I am seeing these things going for 300 to 450 on today's market. If you are looking for a fun, cheap and quirky baritone guitar, this would be a great pick and considering how expensive guitars are getting, I would consider this a steal.
Very Cool, Thankyou. Some awesome selections. I have2 Gretsch Electromatics a G5215 Black Single Cut Single Pick-Up Rock Machine, and a G5248T Gold Double Jet with Bigsby. Both are Amazing Guitars and a Joy to Play, and both have their unique Personalities. Also have a Vintage White Tokai Telecaster, it is such a nice guitar, so amazing. All The Best. Cheers
Some of the 112 Pacifica models punch well above their weight. Strat-style but with a flatter radius and nice neck profile. A used 311H and Revstar Elements are amazing and very usable, not just for the price (I swear I do not work for Yamaha, just a satisfied player 😊).
Good video. Look forward to stopping by the shop now that your in Winter Park. Other under $500 options but not new. Early Agile 2000 series Les Paul models and Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster.
Update....Love my new PRS SE CE 24 Satin....best guitar out there (IMO) for $499 ! Love my Squier FSR Classic Vibe Custom Tele Baritone..it was $579 due to the custom color (purple sparkle) otherwise you can still get a new Squier baritone for under $500.
@@greatloverofmusic1 It's incredibly resonant because it doesn't have all that lacquer . Great, fast satin neck. Check one out , if you can find one. No sooner did Sweetwater get a few in, they sold out ! I got one of the first ones they had last February. PLUS it comes with a really nice gig bag.
Two nice, less-expensive, guitars are Agile and Hamer. I've had Custom Shop Gibsons and Fenders. Sure, they were nice. You want to bang around a $3000-$5000 guitar, go for it. Just picked up another used Agile (under $400), Solid Maple cap (unlike some Epiphones), Grovers, Ebony board, Alpha pots, etc. Had a great Squier with P-90s and LP-style controls. Hamer was OK for the price. My first electric was a cheap, really cheap, Kramer. Other than soft frets, it was fine. So many great choices, it's not the 70s...
Great channel, very in depth .... I accidentally found your channel. I enjoy guitars under $ 500.00 , great for mods . Also , these guitars sound 👍 great .
i got a Sterling Cutlass Plus this spring for a little over 500 and I love everything about it! I also finally decided to try Firefly's version of the es-335, and I'm blown away by the quality. There really is no reason to spend a ton of money on guitars any more; it really is the golden age of getting maximum bang for your buck
YES! If you are reading this he is so right about Tokai. I have two japanese Tokais - an SG Standard and Les Paul early 50s Standard (goldtop with p90s), and a chinese Tokai SG Custom. They are just simply great. Why do you think I bought two more after getting the first one. I was in disbelief that i could get all the gibsons i wanted for 30-50% of the gibson price. I'm not surprised he prefers the mic Tokai Tele to mim Fender teles.
Hi, I just found you. Nice work! I recently got an Epiphone SG pro in cobalt blue with coil splitting for $300 that turned out to be an amazing buy - FB marketplace. Semi-Pro musicians had the setup wrong, that I fixed, and I'm smiling. For the record, I played one of those Gretsch Jets (that's what friends are for), it was great. Different and fun. Pickups got weird when pushed - like you said - but a great guitar.
Also check out Sire , Ibanez AZES and Music Man Cutlass are terrific instruments... Love my Squire Custom Class Vibe purple sparkle Telecaster baritone.
Somewhere along the way, I missed the build of your new store. Guess I just been busy. I love vintage instruments butts they're not something I can financially afford. I'm not a professional player. I just love to write music and enjoy the comfort that it brings me. I enjoy looking at beautiful vintage instruments now that I found your channel again I'll be watching I thank you have created a beautiful environment for such wonderful instruments the very best of luck to you in your business
I have both the offset tele and the super sonic, the super sonic loses tuning (stock setup) if you breathe on it. the offset tele I actually bought two of because I personally love the feel of them.
