*Seems like a pretty good reel **enjoyable.fishing** recommend and the rod is even better then I expected, pretty stiff for a medium but really nice quality.*

One of my Favorite Setups I have that I been Using My Go To is actually Hold the LOL's The Shakespeare Ugly Stik GX2 Spinning rod Reel Combo. I think it's only a 6"3 Medium Fast action. But it works so well for me it's so Reliable and strong and it Looks Awesome too.
@DEBOSFishing
@DEBOSFishing 6 лет назад
Rob P a lot of people rock the GX2. It's a strong rod. Again, use what you have and focus on when and where to fish the baits. You can always change your gear later.

I used that exact style combo first before a casting set up, (7' Med) caught my only 3 bass with, I'm from Alaska originally, and spinning rods are what I used 75% of the time, other was fly rods, so I'm having to learn today's ways of casting, perfect video again sir

Agree pretty much whole heartedly. If ur gunna carry 1 its a MH 7' with a 6/7-1 gear reel. If the question is how many you "need" it'd be 3 for me. The 7' MH casting for most everything, 7' Medium spinning for the finesse and light stuff, and 7'3-7'8 Heavy casting with a 7/8-1 reel for frogging and topwater.

For my birthday, I got a 7’ Ugly Stick GX2 paired with a Kastking Legend reel. Pretty nice combo. I took some of my birthday money and got a Piscifun Phantom and put it on a 7’ Berkley Lightning Rod. LOVE the Piscifun/Berkley combo!!! It’s light as a feather and seems like I can casts country mile! Time will tell durability, but right now? It feels amazing and so much fun to bomb-casts with it!

This guy is awesome and i like his videos! Edit: Here's a list of my setups. MH 7'0 Salt Water Spinning, A bit overkill but this will become the new bass outfit, Braid/Leader or ten pound test and i will try most lures on it. M 6'0 Baltcaster. Used this one as my bass outfit, Braid/leader or ten pound test and used most things on it. UL 4'7 Spinning. Used this one as my trout/panfish outfit, Braid/Leader or four pound test of any line. M 5'6 Spin cast/Baitcaster. These are backup combos, I have used them for bass and other fish spooled with 4/6 pound test. M 5'6 Spin cast/Baitcaster. These are backup combos, I have used them for bass and other fish spooled with 4/6 pound test. M 5'6 Spin cast/Baitcaster. These are backup combos, I have used them for bass and other fish spooled with 4/6 pound test. ML 5'6 Spinning. Sister's combo we won in a fish contest and used for trout/bass. L 5'0 Spinning. My first trout/bass combo, I have caught so many bass/trout with this one it's crazy to think about it now. Spooled with Braid or 4/6 pound test.

I have watched several of your videos and really like them. I have never done much fishing besides pond fishing for some catfish in high school and fishing for some reds when i was stationed in SC. Now that I'm back home in AR and have a little one, I'm trying to get back into all the outdoor things I used to do with my dad. One of your videos sold me on the KK stealth and it will be here in a couple of days (so giddy). There is so much to learn about bass fishing, for example what kind of rod for different types of setups. This video cleared up some things I was confused about. Just need to keep adding to the arsenal. I have a decent spinning combo and will soon have two casting combos that should get me by for a while. I raid walmart for tackle every trip haha, especially when i watch a video that recommends something. Anyways, keep up the great videos!
@DEBOSFishing
@DEBOSFishing 6 лет назад
Drew Baldridge thank you very much for watching brother! How do you like the Stealth? Just slowly add to your lineup and have fun with it. You don't need a ton of gear to have fun fishing. Appreciate you watching!
@s10v8dude
@s10v8dude 6 лет назад
DEBO'S Fishing I loved the stealth while playing with it, i ordered the left hand version because i thought that would work for me since I'm RH. Worked good while casting until i hooked into a little 2lb bass and quickly decided it was too awkward to reel. I keep it for my wife and decided to try the Royale Legend. I am just blown away how good these lower end kast kings are. They are just so smooth and once setup right, hardly any backlashes. I think I'm just going to use all the different KK for my setups.

Just ordered that exact combo as my first ever baitcaster rod/reel. 7.1 foot Kastknig MH fast with a kastking Stealth reel. Only ever fish spinning set-up before (or fixed spool as we tend to call it this side of the pond) super excited. This video and your baitcaster reel videos have been super helpfull man, cheers for you help from UK :-)
@DEBOSFishing
@DEBOSFishing 6 лет назад
Feral Grandad that's very exciting! If you have any questions getting it tuned in, let me know. Start with the magnetic brakes all the way on and 2 of the centrifugal brakes on. Keep the spool tension tight so the bait barely falls. Once you get the hang of it, back the tension and brakes off SLOWLY!

I’m thinning out my Arsenal. Down to three setups for all my bass fishing: 7’ mh catfish rod, 8’ mh carp rod and a 12’ h surf rod. Keeping it simple nowadays. Too much bass gear out there. Not a tournament angler either but with all the lures and rods and reels, most of the fishin fun is gone. Seems like I just buy stuff just to play fish and wear out my shoulder. Have given away about 15 setups last year and this year. Have about 10 bass setups left. Can’t seem to go fishing without taking everything. And I don’t even have a boat. Sometimes I just say Heck with it and take my old Zebco 33. No mess. Just fun. All kidding aside my favorite bass rod is a 7’6 MH/F rod with an Abu 5500C3 and 17 lb. Kastking world class mono. I can throw almost everything on it. Don’t like braid or fluorocarbon. I like the Old Abus because they will crank large lures with ease, they cast a mile, they have a steady retrieve rate, they are cheap, and they are not backlash prone. I almost never backlash. But as soon as I pick up my MH with a 9 bearing reel on it, seems like I spend more time dealing with backlashes than fishing. Kinda done with low profiles. Fishing more this 5500s nowadays. Love your videos man. Love your “feeshin friends”. Tight lines
@134rwa
@134rwa 6 лет назад
My favorite rigs are a 7' to 7'3" medium-heavy baitcasting rig, using braid from 10 to 50lb test, this will be my first season experimenting with fluorocarbons and copolymers. I also use a 7' medium spinning rig, and occasionally my 7' heavy action rod. My wife once asked me, why do I need so many rods and reels? To explain all the factors would cause her eyes to glaze over, I then hum to myself that Brad Paisley song "I'm Gonna Miss Her"
@DEBOSFishing
@DEBOSFishing 6 лет назад
Russell Anderson hahahahaha bye hunny! I agree, that MH is just so versatile. The fluorocarbon/copolymer lines cast different and have other advantages. I'll be interested to see if you notice a difference in the number of bites you get. Keep me updates on your experience switching over!

@banditfishing1558
@banditfishing1558 4 года назад
In the uk it’s completely different with combos, (for pike) we will use a really heavy rod, heavy braid and a spinning reel, or a larger baitcaster and mostly we don’t fish Topwater.for perch we use a light braid but a lighter rod and a spinning reel normally. I hear in the states it’s really different
@hunterthompson5596
@hunterthompson5596 5 лет назад
I have 2 casters and like them but I still go back to my spinning a lot, I grew up fishing on a spinning rod. There is nothing wrong with spinning yes its slower than a casting reel but we all have a spinning and we all use them, there isn't a replacement for spinning and like you said its good to get the skunk out then you go for the bigger fish.
@DEBOSFishing
@DEBOSFishing 5 лет назад
Absolutely, every bass angler should have at least one spinning rig IMO. It makes throwing finesse rigs so much easier. Even little cranks if it's crazy windy. Thanks for watching man.

@DEBOSFishing
@DEBOSFishing 6 лет назад
Bait N' Boujee thanks for watching brother. Loved your dropshot video and it's what inspired me to work that as my go-to finesse style this year. It's not sissy fishing, just personal preference. Fishing is an art and totally subjective. Some anglers just need to broaden their horizons sometimes and pick up the spinning combo. At the end of the day the only thing that matters is catching fish and having fun. Thanks again, Jose!

Love this!! I must say that I feel really good about this video and rather confident in myself(which everybody should) mainly because your top 2 are something I ALWAYS have with me. I usually carry two 7’0 mh baitcast combos that are virtually the same just different lures tied on and a 7’0 M spinning for finesse applications. The spinning outfit I have 15lb braid with 8lb flurokote leader. Doubles up as a good Walleye rod as well. Another great quality video Devon. Always entertaining and educational

DEBO'S Fishing that’s always the most important thing. Having good tackle definitely helps, but it goes without saying. I say a Medium Heavy Moderate Fast Action is the most versatile rod. It has a soft tip which is great for working jerkbaits n topwaters but still have the backbone to drive a single style hook/bait into the fishes mouth. The Lews Mach 1 Speed Stick(although rated as Med. Hvy Fast Action) is a perfect example of a Med. Hvy Mod. Fast

I always take a MH spinning combo because I feel like it has the balance to throw my light and my heavy stuff. Soon I'm going to get a M spinning set to dedicate to finesse application, and them I can have a light/heavy split, and be able to have that fast follow up. After that I plan on getting a MH casting set to throw frogs and jigs.

@Serenity1297 4 года назад
I agree with all of this but I'm a young angler and use a heavy fast action 7ft rod for jiggin and froggin with 65lbs braid that my dad gave me and I works all most perfect for specs it's a st croix mojo bass and a gen 2 Abu Garcia Revo STX and then I have a medium heavy 7 ft and the specs for that is the Daiwa Arid X and the CR 80 Reel and I'm lookin for spinning reel combos and a crackin combo then I'm finished

I can't ever seem to get my release right with a baitcaster. I'm more accurate with a spinning setup. It's really all about what you're most comfortable with.

If I had to pick only one combo to take with me, it'd be a 7.1:1 Baitcaster spooled with 30lb braid on a 7'5" Medium-Heavy Fast rod. I find I can do pretty much anything from weightless wacky-rigs to frogging with that setup. Usually I will run a 2-3' Flouro or mono leader, except when frogging.

I have in my past used heavy power spinning combos. But as newcomer I believe medium fast action 7:1 bait caster should be most versatile to learn if il go back to spinning rods or BFS bait casters.

Always have a 7ft medium baitcaster and 7ft medium spinning rod. Darn near all I need. Barring heavy cover, I can even frog on my medium baitcaster. I just switch the reels out to a 30lb braid. Essentially if I’m hiking to a spot, I have 2 rods and 3 reels. That’s all

I have 8 baitcast reels and 5 open cast reels my baitcasters are lews and abu Garcia I love them I also have duckett series rods and they are great poles. But my baitcast reels range from 7:5:1 gear ratio to my abu Garcia and a couple lews 6:1:1 and 6:4:1 and I have one that is a 5:1:1 gear ratio I use cranks on my medium ratios with buzzbaits but I use my senko wacky rigs with my 7:5:1 bait casters. You should make a video of duckett poles and lews combos as well man

Hey greetings from Iowa to Iowa! I’m a Recent convert from Spincast reels to bait caster reels and thought this video was pretty amazing! One thing no one talks about because it seems like no one uses them anymore is what set up to use for in-line spinners specifically mepps 3s and 4s. I mainly fish them for Smallies and Pike A bit down from the Saylorville Dam Where the water calms a bit And for the early morning Pike bite in places like Spirit Lake. Recommendations?

Debooooooo! If I could only have one.... I'd go with the pergee I I 7' twin tip med/medium heavy with reel of choice. 20 to 30 lb braid. Bring 6 or 8lb leader for finesse and a heavier line for other stuff for leader wise. I usually carry 12lb and 17. You can drop shot on casting gear been doing it for years. Great video. That was a decent arcinal for ppl to start with

Thanks for the info. A question on the Heavy rig.. You mentioned having a fast reel is better for froggin/flipping.. I've seen others mention the Speed Demon as a good choice since it has the fastest reel.. but what about the 13lb drag? Wouldn't that just cause you to crank through the drag while the line stuck?
@DEBOSFishing

James K you mean not having enough pulling power? I think it's more than enough. Unless you are in the thickest of thick like Florida, I've not had an issue fishing normal vegetation.

Debo, love you videos. So informative and not pushing the “I’m right” attitude. I’m trying to up my collection for this season. I’m looking to have 5 combos. I’ve already got my medium spinning rod and my all around 7’0 MH Fast. I’m going to be doing a lot of smaller Squarebills in the shallow, so I’m getting a medium moderate. I’m also going to be getting a medium fast for topwaters and jerks. Now, for spinnerbaits I’ve seen some say moderate and some say fast action- and for swim jigs as well- should I get a medium heavy moderate or another medium heavy fast? Thanks in advance!
@DEBOSFishing

Thank you very much for watching man! For moving bait single hook lures it's a toss up. The softer rod will keep the fish pinned better. But if you use mono and have a soft rod, hooksets on long casts may suffer. I've tried both and like both. Really depends on what you're most confident wirh.

@DEBOSFishing
@DEBOSFishing 5 лет назад
I've used a med power fast action and a medium heavy fast action. Both will do well as long as you match the hook to the rod (don't use a huge heavy wire hook with a medium power rod). I've also used a medium heavy moderate fast action. It's a slightly softer rod and helps to cast the weightless stick bait easier and farther. Hope this helps 👊
