People joke about Chuck Norris who don't know Chuck Norris But Chuck Norris was a legend and is a legend he came at that time with Benny the jet, Joe Lewis, superfoot Bill Wallace, and all the greats of that era just to name a few, back in those days people were still talkin about the great Bruce Lee but there was a lot of great martial artists back then putting in some serious work.
@@chaoticsoul8809 look man I love Chuck Norris I'm a big fan of his and yeah he can fight but there's no comparing his real world in the ring combat record that of Beni the jet . there's just no comparison even chuck would tell you that. Benny was a real world in the ring title holding champion for an extremely long time his record is still unparalleled, Chuck has nothing in the ring to show that compares to that,, if he could have done that he would have done that. people seem to make the mistake of comparing a Hollywood movie entertainer who can fight to that of a real train fighter with a record
@@christopherhanna5754 first of all if you read my comment correctly you would see that I paid homage to all the greats of that era Benny included of course, never did I compare anyone, all those Hall of Famers of the past brought something different to the World of Martial Arts true pioneers, but please make no mistake about it Chuck Norris is a martial artist that became a movie star but he made his bones in the martial arts in its infancy here in the United States
I remember that! The Gracies called him out in an open letter in one of the Hollywood trades (the Daily Variety, if I remember correctly) to try to generate buzz for their expanding UFC venture. He accepted and started training with Gene LeBell immediately, only to have the Gracies bow out when they heard he wasn't going to be just another punch-kick sucker. Benny was already highly skilled at grappling, but was of course famous for his kickboxing. That would have been an interesting fight.
Dear Mr Gracie, Imagine my surprise and disappointment to find that you had "challenged" me once again. I accepted your so-called challenge in good faith a few years ago. I thought you were serious at that time and began training with grappling master Gene Le Bell and former Kickboxing World Champion, Bill "Superfoot" Wallance, who was also a former collegiate wrestler. However, you backed out. You weren't serious then, and you aren't now. Once again, you are trying to gain fame and add prestige to your show by riding on my name. You've never had any real intention of fighting me. First, you placed your "challenge" (advertisement) in a paper that is geared to entertainment news, not Martial Arts news, in the hope that I wouldn't see it. Second, I was out of the country at the time and did not return until two weeks after your ad ran. Apparently it didn't matter to you, as you were only seeking the publicity. Third, and most significant, you timed your "challenge" after I had officially retired from the ring. my retirement bout was aired on "Showtime" in December of 1993. Your title of "ultimate fighting champion" is rather amusing. You act as if it were a legitimately sanctioned title, and not just the name that was made up for your exhibition. You'll have to do more than compete in a tough man contest to prove yourself. My first paid competition was in a tough manx contest. I was crowned champion only after two days of competition and almost one hundred competitors in the field. However, I knew that if I really wanted to be a world champion, I would have to do more than glorified street fighting... For twenty years I have held Kickboxing wold titles. I have proven myself in my sport throughout the world. My record of 58-0, with 49 knockouts, speaks for itself. Everyone whom I have fought were champion kick boxers. We did not insult each other with talk. We fought like men. There is nothing that I have to prove to you, or anyone in my sport. If you want to be a true champion and be thought of with respect, you have everything to prove. Sincerely, - Benny Urquidez
I have to give this man my respect because he created the full contact sport and in the seventies he was a force to deal with in the ring ,a real fighter no faker and,no martial art movie crap -THIS MAN IS THE REAL DEAL AND ALWAYS DID IT WITH ALOT OF HEART.
Yes Sensei Benny. I have full faith in whatever you teach. You've "been thru the mill" , "went-to-hell" and came back victorious against the top fighters of the day. I'm a senior TKD instructor and ex-fighter, i only trust teachers who have fought well in their day. Not "paper masters". Benny Urquidez...i am your humble fan!!!
I like all the Old Movies from 1986, they will Never be Erased. From my Mind🧠. I'm not to sure if 🥋Benny♊The Jet🥋. Ever got to🤔 Meet 🐲Brandon♒🐲Lee 🐲 or Dragon Sek but I would like to hear about that 🌎Story. Brandon ♒ Lee was a Iconic 😔Forrest😔🔫 🐲⚰️☹️Law never dies🐲✌️...
One of Benny's top quality as a fighter and as a person is the confidence he never thought he could loose and he always carried respect for the other person. He is that rare person that not only completely believes in himself but believes in others, i know this first hand, I trained with him from 1975 to 1982. Marc "theroman" costello
Sir. You are a legend inside and out of the ring. So much talent and wisdom. One of the greatest fighters of all time. Those who gave this video a thumbs down must have got their butts kicked by you in the past
I'll always remember Benny refereeing one of my fights in the early 80's, I think his confidence and determination rubbed off on me that night for the better. What an inspiring and classy champion - a big man in a small frame.
this guy is a genius. he is a true master. dont let modern mma fool you. if this man sought to conquer the art of MMA he would also be a master of that as well.
benny just owns.plain and simple.ive been a fan since i was a child. i have a lot of respect for him as a fighter and especially as a human being. the man is a true legend
Great vid! I sometimes meet an old boy originally from the e end of London in a local cafe. He's a Woda Ryu Karate Sensei, a real master and I mean a real master. 1 day he tells me that he went to visit & train with Benny in the US & that Benny gave him his own personal work out sheet of combinations he uses. The next time I see the Sensei he has that sheet & presents it to me as a gift! It's now in a frame up on my wall. Benny the Jet and Sensei John White. Two legends in martial arts.
I grew up watching benny in the jc movies, but didnt really 'know' who benny was until recently. He was always on my mind "Who is this guy, his look, his style, he really compliments JC" and now I know after many videos and research... he is a true legend! Love Benny
Only someone with this mans experience and knowledge could reduce all the knowledge associated with fighting and training into the five points that really count. Thank you Benny.
respect man this guy was my fav fighter and fought very well my father told me about him and my dad was also a very good fighter and said he was the best and he is
I grew up in Spain in the '70s-'80s. I was crazy about martial arts in a time when there was no way I could get my hands on any material like this or just some footage of Benny The Jet fighting. So for me, Benny was some kind of myth I had to recreate in my mind based on the few things I could read about him. Imagine what it is like being able to watch videos like this.
a true pioneer , look up his history . great great fighter and absolutely still has much to offer any martial artist today, wether its in the ring or on the street. and still the most devastating spinning back kick i ever saw. much, much respect to the Jet.
I love all your videos Sensei Benny..I met you several times with Terry Yuris from Trail BC,in Vavcouver, before the Koshikowa fight and my then Sensei Tom Smilie refereed the fight, and Calgary for a seminar..
Until Benny dies, I will always be mindful of the fact that he can kick my ass at any time. No matter how old he is, I'm sure he'd knock me out with ease.
Godlike... got the honor to train with him. Afther few minutes of talking with master Urquidez, and i've got a huge amount of power to train again. He is born to be a Sensei. And a damn good one.
He's one of the most rugged fighters in the history of kickboxing. There have been fighters that hit him with everything but the kitchen sink and he kept coming. He would then turn it on them.
Excellent advice. I think it fits perfectly with a life and death situation. When time slows and you can implement these techniques it can make the difference.
He is absolutely correct about centering yourself and peripheral vision very important Only a good fighter knows these things and also about your hands and feet being separate fighters...offensively and defensively...very important but it takes practice...
