Emotional exhaustion is not voluntary, it can be disabling and it can’t just be ‘turned off’. It’s one of the signs of burnout, involving your psyche and emotions feeling like a deflated scrapyard tire.

I'm often called lazy I do have friends but they live far away😔 when in reality living is exhausting, bullshit is exhausting everything etc that annoys me is exhausting But I'm always being told I'm. Lazy because I don't wanna do anything ..but they don't know that's the real reason behind it

I often need reminders that opinions and perceptions are just that, opinions and perceptions. Nobody really knows unless they're living my life 24/7. The ambition is there, but the motivation is gone. I'm emotionally exhausted.

After 2 years of feeling less than for being labeled lazy I realized that I’m emotionally drained. Studying for medical school has been very hard on me and now that I’m realizing I need a break I already feel at ease. Take time for yourself everyone 💜

I decided to take a week off work for that exact reason and my parents are threatening not to take me on vacation with them in the summer because that would be too much time off work and i need to save money so i can move out

@@rubix4601 because you are either surrounded by those who are fake, or you simply seem like you aren’t there. or maybe you don’t fit in like the rest. it’s possible to be surrounded by a lot of people and still feel alone.

After a very stressful dinner with a dysfunctional family, I was sick for 2 weeks solid. I was emotionally exhausted. I let my doctor know I wasn’t doing well and got positive feedback. I’ve been out of the bed for 2 days now, called 3 people and cut my hair. It’s amazing how our emotions can wreak havoc in our lives. I’m so happy the sun has been shining today❣️

I can relate to these points, I think I’m emotionally exhausted. I’m afraid to tell my mother because she might just brush it off as just being lazy or something else. I know she and my father loves me but I don’t think they really know much about this kind of stuff and might brush it off as something not serious. Thank you for helping understand!

This video made me cry, I’ve been questioning myself on why I’m feeling this way and really thought I was lazy due to sleeping more and not doing my daily chores like normal. Thank you for showing me this, I don’t feel so critical towards myself anymore.

I seemed to have most of my symptoms, I am currently very burnt out and I can’t seem to focus on anything. I always blamed myself for everything, even small things. Now I am that point that I already feel the pain and that it just replaces my worry with a mild headache almost every day. I have trouble expressing myself and seeking out help because I don’t want to drag people into my problems, or I feel like that’ll they wouldn’t understand how I am feeling. I know it’s best to seek help, but it just how I feel. I am always stuck my own world, alone-- even though I am surrounded by the people I love, I still feel *alone* . I love these types of videos btw, always gives a sense of hope to the people who are feeling the same way 😌

Definitely, 100%, not alone in feeling that way… it’s been steadily coming on for me for several months now and I was reaching my breaking point until I was finally able to schedule a therapy session for the first time in years. I still have a long way to go, but I did feel just a little bit lighter after that first session. I’m going once a week since I had reached a critical point of emotional exhaustion to where I couldn’t even move. I just sat in the cold and darkness of my room for 2 days straight, only seeing to the most basic of needs (bathroom, food, water). I still get migraines daily, as well. So trust me, you’re absolutely not alone. At least one other person knows, understands, and lives your pain. Please don’t discount the idea of seeking professional help, or even check out digital/virtual services such as Better Help or meditation apps like Calm and Headspace. I know it’s scary and overwhelming to think about unloading and unlocking all the things inside you that cause you stress, but it will be SO worth it, I promise. Do consider it.

@@melaniemartin4319 lol! Thanks, friend! My journey may be unimportant in the grand scheme of things, but that’s exactly why it HAS to be important to me. I’ve put my own personal and emotional needs on the back burner for far too long and it’s clearly had a strong, negative impact on my mental health. I wish I knew how other people prevent this kind of thing from happening to them, but for now I need to focus on its effects before I can combat the root cause, otherwise I’ll drown in the darkness it brings. I hope you find some peace today, even if it’s for just a few minutes. And I mean peace of mind. I know how hard that can be to find sometimes.

Excellent video. I grew up with my mom telling me "don't put off to tomorrow what you can do today". The problem is that there is something to do everyday that you can put off until tomorrow. Makes do one long "to do" list.

This helped me realize I’m not lazy but had been very overworked and emotionally drained isn’t a strong enough word for years now especially the last 4 years. I’m 29 and I’m starting better help today and I’m also putting myself first and I don’t care how selfish it “looks” I can’t take care of everyone everything and not myself ever. It’s been killing me. Glad to have that clarified and validated!

I always generalized this at the end of the semester (aka right now) to just stress, but this is such a better explanation for it. It’s like constantly trying yet not actually getting anything done, but then feeling exhausted despite not doing anything, staying up unreasonably late to try to relax and then start the cycle again the next day. It’s like being stuck in mud and using all your energy to get out but literally get nowhere.

I lost my job over this! I couldn’t understand what was wrong with me. I felt like I was hanging on for dear life, I was overwhelmed and exhausted. I’ve gained a lot of weight and lost all desire to do anything. I was crying all the time and at the most inconvenient times. After I was fired, I felt so relieved and slept in a lot. I’m rebuilding myself but I’m not there yet.

I have had this a few times in my life. I learned to take care of myself…I go for facials, change my bedsheets and clean up. It makes me feel better. Making my bed daily inspires me daily so when I come home it looks so inviting…this helps ALOT!

Yes it helps and it's called self-love. Eat your fav food, listen to your fav music and go to your fav place. All it takes to get rid through this emotional burnout is to take care of yourself.

Being continually stressed and in a hopeless situation can cause this. Also being in a situation where you encounter stress and problems continually and have no support from others can cause this too.

As a person who is going through a severe burnout, I can confirm everything that was said here is true. My life has been... Weird. I'm at the verge of quitting the things I loved so much and worked for years to achieve. Burnout sucks.

I’m still feeling burnt out even though I quit a stressful and aggravating job 8 days ago. Hang in there, people. I deal with headaches, migraines, fatigues and much much more. I also had Covid in January. Today I didn’t get too dizzy and was able to work in the garden AND walk on the treadmill. I used to run 5K’s competitively … so this is low for me. But today was decent!

I struggle with running too since to really bothers my head! I know it's different, but consistently going on walks, even if it's just around my neighborhood, has immensely helped me remember to get some physical activity done regardless of my migraines. Hope you have a wonderful day!!!

Hang in there, it will take at least 4 weeks to stop replaying your old job in your head and get over the mental exhaustion , plus your body needs to adjust to a new routine-take it easy and don't be too hard on yourself

Mcouey, feeling very much the same. I took a day off on Friday and I've Literally just curled up in my bed for 3 days, fatigued. I have a very stressful and aggravating job too which I'm desperate to leave. I don't know how much I can carry on with. Emotionally dead inside. I'm having Reiki and it does help. I suffered from migraines for years. Cant stand light or noise. Had to get sumatriptan to help. Still get them. Especially when my stress is more than it is every day for me. Had panic attacks from stress. It's a constant battle .

People made me feel lazy or put it that emotional exhaustion or burnout is a me problem that should be fixed or covered as quick & efficient as possible to benefit them, knowing that this isn’t laziness is nice to know rather than blame it on the fact that I may be lazy cause of these symptoms. These are very clear examples of symptoms. Use these to be more self aware, and it could help you notice the internal conflicts you have when under serious stress. This form of exhaustion can set in really quickly, especially those individuals that have an all-or-nothing work ethic.

Something that I've noticed very recently is that small relaxing things don't help me from burnout - like going for walks or seeing a friend. What does help for me is playing video games - which sounds stupid because I always seen it as just being lazy and distracting myself from my work. But I couldn't get myself to work for over a week and I was starting to get into a really depressive state. It took a whole weekend of playing games - but afterword I felt better than I've been in months. So now I know to prevent myself from getting burnout I play something before I go to bed - my only issue now is not getting enough sleep - but it still feels better than feeling hopeless.

Reminders of self love and self care. Both are reminders I often need because I forget about them easily. Also, the idea that sleep is important and that I shouldn't be so quick to sacrifice sleep in favor of working more. Often when things get busy or stressful, these things slip my mind and I end up burnt out and emotionally exhausted. That's why these videos service such a good reminder for me.

I literally saw my AP lang grade drop down from 79.5% percent to a 73.0% and although I could change it by just turning one missing assignment, I just can’t do it. I’m exhausted, like really exhausted. I cant do anything for the life of me to improve.

Sometimes, you just have rest for a little and come back later even stronger. Allowing yourself to rest and restrategize is an important part to the process.

I don't know if I'm emotionally exausted but I sometimes feel like I can't get a break from the childhood trauma I endured as a kid. I forgot about it for well over a decade and right when it popped back into my mind I couldn't get it out. Even if I didn't want to think on it I was involuntarily was. I don't exactly know what to say to my therapist because it's potentially the most damaging thing that led me to do something to someone else.

I can relate to this. Try to remember the good moments and not so much the bad ones. Childhood trauma can destroy your future using your emotions if you let it. Be strong and keep your faith. You got this

I can relate, I can't stop thinking about childhood trauma, abuse & loss. I had self esteem & confidence until my dad died when I was 5. I now know I developed "Avoidant Personality Disorder" (along w an eating disorder ( only as a child) The Avoidant disorder affected my whole life. I just turned 71 & have always felt emotionally exhausted/ overwhelmed.

I've been feeling the exact same way. Tbh it's not a one size fits all. But what has helped me through the intrusive thoughts of such events is to journal everyday. Like just dumping the thoughts down on paper or typing it out on your computer and then finding something that's easy but challenges your mind enough so that it keeps it busy. Not to get away from the emotions from your thoughts, but to help refocus your mind on something positive. This did wonders to help me get out of my head.

This is one of the most insightful things I’ve listened to. Describes me perfectly- regretting the past, overwhelmed by the present, fearing the future. This equals stuck in a spiral of inaction. Can’t / don’t want to accept what is- can’t change what was- literally just existing. I do ok at work (that’s not real life) but home is a mess. Thank you for sharing this with us- helps me realize it’s NOT only me.

Go easy on yourself. Set boundaries, say no to requests. For once, put yourself first in order to heal & return to your normal self. It's not selfish, it's self-preservation & self-care.

This is how I've been feeling for so long, I thought something was wrong with me:sometimes I didn't even recognize myself because I couldn't understand why I was beginning to feel so numb and even now I have a hard time being around others to long even my close friends and family,,All my life I've given so much of my self away being kind, loving, understanding, loyal also healing and was always drawn to the underdogs and misfits AND SUDDENLY ONE DAY I JUST WAS DRAINED AND I'VE NEVER BEEN THE SAME..AND EVERY DAY NOW I WRESTLE WITH IN.....

Thankyou Psych2Go for the video. I have been watching your videos lately and it helped me alot to see on what I maybe struggling right now. This one made me realize that I may have been emotional exhausted because most of the signs that were mentioned in this video is what I am experiencing right now. Ill try my best to work out on my schedules more, trying to have enough rest and take breaks when needed.

I think I am this at the moment. I'll admit I spent months after my break up just dealing with getting his stuff out of my flat so I was too busy/numb to deal with the fallout. But the last few months, now that it's settled down, I'm just spent. All that emotion I had let sit in the back of my head is now at the forefront and I just have no energy, my passion in the things I love is dwindling.. and I honestly don't know how to get back to being me any more 😕

I’m emotionally exhausted but I didn’t know it. Thank you. I have a great job, everything I could ever need, yet have never had emotional support from anyone. Including my parents, who are now both dying. As a middle child, I had issues from the start but my older brother died when I was 14, and my younger sister was murdered when I was 23. All attempts at therapy have been useless. I just keep trying to be as helpful and productive as I can, but my body surrounds a giant vacuum. Kinda sad isn’t it?

It's so important that we take care of our own needs without sacrificing our well-being to satisfy and please others. When you can, take breaks if need to, meditate, take a walk and be kind to yourself for the practice of self-care. Last year was a hard year for me emotionally , but I made it through and I am currently studying at university. I told myself that I was going to take a whole day and dedicate it to studying, but on that day, like a lot of other days, even though I had a good night's sleep, I felt so tired and had no energy to do anything and it made me feel so guilty. Then, while I was scrolling through you tube, I found this video and everything I have been feeling these last 2 months makes sense now so thank you.😊

Thanks so much for putting this out, I now realize that I have complete emotional exhaustion lately. One of the worst part for me is wanting to do everything that has to be done and not being able to. And actually the anxiety it provokes inside me worrying I may not be able to do something in the future just exhausts me more! I appreciate you helping me see that I am not being lazy, that after years of life being very high stress, I truly just need a break and it's okay!

This sounds like me lately. My fiancé sees it and Is helping as much as he can. He’s very attuned to my emotional and physical needs. Yet, it’s been hard since I don’t want to admit I need help as well as overworking myself.

I loved the narration for this video 😀 Interesting video to remember when* I manage to get a job... (That's still embarrassing 😔) Anyway 3 and 4 to me is almost by the book 1, although not like textbook, still affects me too 2 and 5 do affect me, but in an almost random way (or different way only) It's to the point, where I'm so hyperfocused on whatever I'm doing, that I end up forgetting to eat (yes, really; and the things I hyper focus could be my hobbies, the computer course I'm doing, or whatever) Luckily, I've been having way less self-hate (although I still fall to that trap sometimes), but it's less worse than before Also, I hope I remember this video whenever* I get a job; because if all of these affects me even without a job... Oh boy... 😨😨😨

I've been emotionally exhausted since I was 12. Don't have solutions to my problems, except surviving in spite of them. Being too exhausted to get riled up has its advantages though. Living in a homeless hostel and people can be a bit grim, but they're never comfortable if you respond to provocation with lack of response.

I've been told my my whole family that "I'm perfectly fine" "your being lazy your fine" but now I'm realizing that Im not being lazy. I feel tired when I get a full night's rest. Or for some reasons I can never be happy. At school/work when I'm doing things I love they just seem like a chore and not something I love. I'm feel emotionally exhausted most of the time and my mom calls me lazy for it😔. My sister had most of the emotional issues in my family so now I'm expected to be the perfect golden child. When in reality im not. My mom tells me I'm being dramatic or I'm using excuses to not be my best. But in reality I just tired and can never catch a break.

Yeah me too. The pandemic wrecked everything in a strange way. I didnt get sick, lose a job or shelter. But I lost connection because so much shut down, closed up, boarded up etc. Old familiar routines completely destroyed. Family relationships, which were never great to begin with are never going to be I realize. Friends have drifted away because of lack of contact which has led to lack of interest. But the isolation has sharpened my senses and values. I realize that so much of what we do is escape from Self.

I relate to every sign, most of the time I feel irritated for having negative thought and I just want to erase that energy permanently. I question myself and say that I would be better dead. I think often that everyone hates me, I want this negativity to stop existing but I can't do it. I mostly of the time think that death would be the best solution.

I just joined the gym. Feeling more positive already and it’s only been 1 week 💪🏼. Finding an activity where you can zone out and escape periodically is beneficial 👍🏼

I relate to this on every single one, I want to take breaks but the amount of homework I get is too much, and I find that even sometimes I never have enough time to actually finish my homework even if I believed I worked the whole day. School doesn't leave me an option to take breaks and I'm scared to take a break. My test grades have fallen from 90%-100% all the way to 40%-70% even though I'm confident, and I always seem to not be able to do something without making a tiny mistake that cost me 2 points. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm so tired

i didn't know that this is what was wrong.... for the past several weeks i've been feeling like nothing i ever did for my s/o was good enough, like o wasn't good enough and its been difficult trying to keep up with homework and everything keeps annoying me more than usual like im gonna explode and i just cant sleep but im still tired all the time. this video rlly helped me understand why i feel so bad, thank you.

I feel really related to this and I’m a kid, they tell me that is because I’m passing through puberty but this whole year ( 2021 ) I’ve been dizzy, in a bad mood and stressed all time because of nothing. I’m happy now to know that the whole time I wasn’t being lazy. Thx u ✨

Stress is not normal. Listen to your body it gives you signal where it needs some attention. If it needs rest then rest listen to your body you'll heal. ❤️

Yes, it was a great view. I am having a week off work for the first time in a year and a half. I'm a Support worker in differently abled. I have not even realised just how exhausted I was until I found out that the week off was going to happen, and at that point I went into recovery mode. I love the work that I do and the people I work with, but to know that I have a whole week off, Wow, I have no real plans except to simply recharge and do something special for me.

Yes! Every single one of these symptoms I have felt (or currently feeling). Yet knowing this, I feel like I need to keep working. I got so much pressure on me from deadlines and other things I need to do that it scares me to take a break and slow down everything cause I feel like it will cost me in the long run

After I dropped school and work that stressed me out, sitting in home for a while, stopped to care about drama, got motivation to do things, started to care about my basic higene more, I think it got better though it really takes long to recover, have to change my diet too.

Im having more work than I am used to and its getting me tired, everything I do something like draw, it feels like I can be doing work insted of doing something that it even tho is enjoyable, it takes time. I am given work that has to be completed in a certain amount of time and I don't feel like I did well in it, even if I completed at the right time. This made me realize that I need some time on my own, and take care of my self.

I got this plus , depression , anxiety and fibromyalgia...I'm finished at 66 ..I feel. Dont sleep, cant sleep until the day. The last two years has been a night mare for everyone and , made me not want to go out even. my OCD has kicked in a big time 🤢
