I am an ex Lutheran too. Ivwas a child at age 10 who was baptized.with my parents becoming a Lutheran. I was learning about God and God's laws from my catholic neighborhood children I played with after school. Confirmation classes were difficult for me because I had to write more than one report disliking Catholics and Catholicism which in my heart was wrong just yo become a Lutheran. I feel I only went thru Confirmation to make my Grandfather happy. I knew someday I wanted to search out becomingva Catholic and I did. Iblove being a catholic. Congratulations! “IF” you have not already, please consider going to Adoration of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament (also known as “Holy Hour”). Call your local parish and find out when they offer it. Then, just go and sit in silence in Christ’s Presence. Take your bible. Read scripture, pray, contemplate. Tell the Lord of your search for truth, of your doubts, worries, even fears. Then, be as patient with Him as He has been with you. When you receive the grace to know that HE IS THERE, you will be forever changed. Miracles occur in Christ’s presence - of that I can personally attest.

Protestantism is a man-made religion invented by Martin Luther in order to solve his psychological problem of constant guilt. He rejected the Church established by Christ, and replaced it with the idea that each man interprets the Bible himself. In order to justify this unBiblical concept Luther claimed that his inner experience of "the spirit" is the authority that makes his understanding of the Bible authoritative. The problem arises in that each man then makes the same claim and then demands that his own personal understanding of the Bible is more authoritative than the next man's understanding. Thus, instead of eliminating the papacy, he shattered the role into a million pieces in which each man becomes his own individual Pope and Biblical authority unto himself.

I decided to check the claim that Constatine poured paganism into the Christian faith. I already read Ecclesiastical History by Sozomen, and I've been reading The Life of Constantine by Eusebius of Cæsarea. I didn't find anything like the Protestant claim. On the contrary, Constatine did forbid everything pagan from his empire: festivals, images, and buildings. He forbade worshiping other gods other than the true God. Of course, there are a lot of other sources I'll read in order to get a better conclusion, but up to now, I didn't find the Protestant claim in the sources.

I was baptized Lutheran, raised by a mom who was baptized Baptist, and have sung in a Catholic choir for almost a decade. My conversion to the one True faith began when I prayed for the Lord to protect and guide a friend who was convicted of a federal felony c. 2018. Almost 4 years later, my friend is released on probation and is getting his life back on track. That miracle opened my heart to the Lord and last year I started to truly study the faith. And at Pentecost this year the plan as proposed by my priest is to have me enter the Church. My last hangup was The Eucharist; as I could not understand the transformation to the Body and Blood of Christ. That changed when I realized that even if I don't see it with my eyes, my heart knows that the transformation has taken place.

The reason Martin Luther did not include obedience in his doctrine of salvation is because his life was marked by disobedience. Luther broke his triple vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience that he made to God when he was ordained as a Catholic priest years earlier.

Also the Catholic church is a universal church not just a western church. And Martin Luther didn't actually reform anything. He just created heresies and destroyed the body of Christ creating hundreds of thousands of different theologies and tens of thousands of different denominations. If you attempt to find the canon for Protestants you can't find one. There are a few Churches that have declared a list. But anyone else can agree with this list or simply form their own. Unlike Catholics where you can find a canon, date and a who or where. The final _official_ canon is the one Protestants will point to and claim it is very late. The Council of Trent. Yet it is recorded, dated and complete. This same thing cannot be found for Protestants, and most would even claim it is not needed as Sacred Scripture is self-defining. So, while Catholics have a _late_ Canon...Protestants don't have any canon. I have also noticed that the names of the Gospels are Tradition, we don't know who wrote them by only the Bible. Two of them aren't even Apostles. Why accept any of the Gospels?

Many well-informed Protestant theologians are converting to Catholicism, - Emphasis on the scholarly and intellectual approach leading to conversion. 07:10 *📚 Depth of Study and Research in Catholic Faith* - Stephen Ray's extensive study reflected in his personal library of 20,000+ books, - Demonstrates a serious commitment to understanding Christianity deeply. 12:14 *🛡️ Misunderstandings of Protestant "Five Solas"* - Analysis of the Protestant "Five Solas" and Catholic perspectives, - Critique of reductionist slogans versus the nuanced Catholic approach. 20:05 *🌟 Salvation by Grace in Catholic Teaching* - Catholic understanding of salvation by grace alone, - Differentiation between initial justification and ongoing sanctification. 21:56 *🔑 Initial Justification and Sanctification* - Initial justification is by grace through faith and baptism, a total gift of God. - The believer is required to live a holy life after initial justification, indicating an ongoing process of sanctification. 25:38 *🌟 Attaining Holiness and Works of Salvation* - The believer must actively pursue holiness and good conduct as part of the Christian life. - Hebrews emphasizes the necessity of attaining holiness, which is essential for a relationship with God. 28:41 *🎁 Good Works and Grace* - Good works and attempts at holiness are also considered a gift of God's grace. - Illustration of a gift bought by a son but paid for by the father highlights the relationship between grace and human effort. 31:45 *📖 Faith Alone vs. Works in Salvation* - Exploring the concept of faith alone in salvation and the Catholic perspective on faith and works. - Addressing verses and interpretations that support the Catholic understanding of salvation through faith expressed in works. 38:24 *📜 Revisiting "Faith Alone" Doctrine* - Analysis of the phrase "faith alone" in Scripture and its absence in key passages. - Clarifying the Protestant doctrine of "faith alone" in light of Biblical references and Catholic perspectives. 42:33 *📖 Misinterpretation of "faith and works"* - The New Testament context contrasts Christianity with Judaism, not just Protestantism versus Catholicism. - "Works of the law" refers specifically to Mosaic legal requirements like circumcision, dietary rules, and Sabbath observance. - Abraham's justification by faith predates his circumcision, emphasizing faith over mere legal observance. 44:08 *📜 Interpretation of Romans 4: Circumcision vs. Works* - Romans 4 uses "circumcision" repeatedly in the context of works, not generic good deeds. - Abraham's faith was credited as righteousness before he was circumcised. - The text clarifies that faith is key, distinct from works of the Mosaic law like circumcision. 46:26 *💬 Understanding Faith and Works in James* - James highlights that true faith is evidenced by corresponding actions (works). - Dead faith is equated to a body without a soul, emphasizing the necessity of genuine faith manifesting in actions. - This passage challenges notions of "faith alone" theology, aligning with Catholic perspectives. 47:49 *📚 Martin Luther's Dispute with James* - Martin Luther's resistance to the Book of James was due to its challenge to "faith alone" doctrine. - Luther added "alone" to Romans 3:28 in his translation to support his theology. - His aversion to James exemplifies the theological rifts within Protestantism. 51:05 *📖 The Foundation of Protestant Reformation* - Luther asserted "faith alone" and "Bible alone" as pillars of the Reformation. - The Catholic Church upholds Scripture as inspired and authoritative but does not limit revelation to Scripture alone. - Catholic theology emphasizes the synergy of Scripture and Tradition as integral to divine revelation. 54:28 *🌐 Three Sources of Authority: Scripture, Tradition, Magisterium* - The Catholic Church affirms Scripture, Tradition, and Magisterium (teaching authority) as co-equal sources of divine revelation. - Rejecting any of these sources undermines the comprehensive understanding of faith. - Luther's rejection of Tradition and Magisterium contributed to theological fragmentation in Protestantism. 01:03:21 *📚 Canon of Scripture and Church Authority* - The discussion centers around the authority behind the canonization of the Bible and why Protestants accept the canon but reject other teachings of the Catholic Church. - Key points: - The question of who has the authority to declare which books are inspired and belong in the Bible. - Protestants rely on the church's decision for the canon but reject other doctrinal teachings. - The importance of understanding the historical context and authority behind the canonization process. 01:04:41 *🔍 Authority to Define the Canon* - Exploring the idea that the decision on the canon came from outside scripture, posing a challenge to Protestant reliance solely on scripture. - Key points: - The notion that the canonization process was guided by God's active influence on the Church. - Questioning Protestants on where they acquired the Bible and its historical origins. - Highlighting the necessity of understanding the authority that closed the canon and declared certain books as inspired. 01:05:36 *📖 Historical Context of Canonization* - Delving into the history of early Christianity and the roles of figures like Jerome and various Church bishops in determining the biblical canon. - Key points: - Acknowledging the Catholic Church's significant role in the canonization process. - Highlighting the historical context of early Christians and their impact on shaping the Bible. - Emphasizing the importance of historical context when discussing the authority behind the Bible's compilation.

@@CatholicTruthOfficial So what your saying is 1 Peter 3:21 means is Baptism only saves until you commit your first mortal sin. Let me rephrase my question. Was Steve Ray in the state of grace right before he converted to Catholicism? Because if that is the case, I can know I am also in the state of Grace. I can be in the state of justification without the Catholic Sacraments, just like Steve and Steve's father. As a Protestant I Love Jesus and also Steve Ray loved Jesus when he was a Protestant. So even believing in the 5 solas will not keep you out of heaven. Maybe Pope Francis does not evangelize Protestants because there is no need to. So why do you feel the need to?
@CatholicTruthOfficial
@CatholicTruthOfficial 4 месяца назад
Faith and baptism are what lead to initial justification. So Christ justifies us and removes our sin, makes us children of God, and fills us with the Holy Spirit. But if we do serious and against him, then we can be cut off as the Bible says. It's funny how you were trying to use every argument and find every loophole and find every tiny little thing possible to not become Catholic even though you know in your heart that it's true. I know you want to stay Protestant and be in a supposed state of grace, but Jesus started a church and the Protestant Baptist Church is not it. I'm glad you love Jesus. We have that in common. We just pray that you come to love his church also which is his bride. The Catholic Church teaches that we need to evangelize the world. In fact the Bible says we need to also. Why wouldn't we want Protestants to come home to the fullness of faith. All the Protestants that have are overjoyed and are so glad that they did.

@@CatholicTruthOfficial The catholic Church won't let me be Catholic because it is required to accepts all that the Church teaches and i can't do that. For example I can't except the Church teaching on Holy days of obligation. That teaching makes God not just. Why is it a matter of heaven or hell for most of the northeast to attend mass on May 9, but for the rest of the country it is not? This proves missing Holy days of obligation is not a mortal sin, not bound in heaven. Even Fr Samuel Keyes would agree this teaching is problematic. Go read the his article: Is the Ascension a Holy Day Of Obligation? Does Keeping the Commandments of God determined by the state you live in? BTW Hawaii only has 2 days of obligation, a better state to live in for the unfaithful. If a mortal sin could be changed to no sin at all, how is that a grave sin in first place? I wish just one Catholic apologist will admit this teaching is not right, will you be the first one Bryan? And if you do not admit the Catholic Church is wrong about this teaching, then you have to believe possibly millions of Catholics who don't attend these obligations will die in their sins. I was just talking to a 70 year old Catholic man and asked if he was going to the obligation on May 9, it was the first he knew about. He said he didn't believe the mortal/ venial sin. I guess from now on he can't claim invincible ignorance.

Satan and the Fallen Angels probably have more faith than most of us put together but there was a work that they needed to do, but they just couldn't do it, and not wanting to put in the work to be a little humble shows that faith alone couldn't do it. The pre flood people had a massive amounts of faith but they wasn't doing God's will.they we're doing their own will. When Jesus in the New Testament said I never knew you he never knew them because yeah they may have had faith but they never lived a life that bore any good fruit fruit is work Jesus said love thy neighbor as thyself you can't do that if you don't offer help to people in need or do some sort of work it's work the love thy neighbor as thyself that's what, that's what he's talking about plain and simple.❤

I cring at the "aroma" of your message. You are setting yourself up as an extremist instead of a moderate. Sure, 99% of those like you embrace your aroma, but that does not mean it is right. Apply Luke 18:11. People believe certain individuals are better than others, but are they really? We know Jesus is better than Mary, but do Jews know that? Is Mary better than Abraham, Moses, or whomever? How do we know? And do Protestants know this? If not, what should we do with them? Is it even our duty to deal with them? Decerning specks and logs are good. However, if the aroma is arrogant, should we expect good to come? You come with passion for the Church, but so did Saul. Sometimes, the Church we know is not the Church God knows. GOD has warnings for all churches that many of us do not hear and instead are deceived by anti-Christs. We need to remain aglow in the grace/unmerited love of God: Romans 5:1-2 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gain access (by faith) to this grace in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God. Romans 6:22 But now that you have been freed from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit that you have leads to sanctification, and its end is eternal life. Romans 6 unequivocally teaches that although we have been freed from sin, nevertheless we can freely choose to become obedient slaves of righteousness or obedient slaves of sin which we used to be - a case of a dog going back to his own vomit. God has not taken away our free will.

Sola scriptura is not true in any shape or form.
@menoftheclothKTOG

@@CatholicTruthOfficial I understand and totally agree. It's just that near the beginning there are analogies given of glory as concerning glory other things/people so it can't be technically "glory to God 'alone". Or something of that nature. Growing up a calvinist protestant I can tell you that that framing mis represents the position so it doesn't really address the actual argument that the solas attempt to singularize (did I just invent a word?) each of five means grace but only in a salvific context. Not all context. So Sola gratita would be indicating that God alone gets the glory due the salvific work of God not no one ever gets glory for anything but God. I'm sure it's hard to have people scrutinize every nuance of how things are worded when they are said in the moment. I just want to make sure you understand the difference for real in case it wasn't accidental.

What exactly does all this accomplish? Sure, Food fights are fun, but someone has to clean it up and unfortunately it is usually not the ones flinging the food. What a mess!

How is this a mess? We have four videos with steve, and so many people have attributed their conversion to Christ and a Catholicism to him. So it's a complementing two things. One clarifying false Protestant arguments against the Catholic church. And two, what the original biblical truth is. And I guess, three, helping Protestants to find the fullness of christianity.

@CatholicTruthOfficial Just the same as our Congress being a mess. Sure, some will not see it and ask, "How is Congress a mess?" Democrats will jump up and down saying how wrong the Republicans are and that they are living in an upside-down world and vise versa. What good does this do everyone? Should our religion follow the template of this world? Is this world not a mess?

They can try to be Pro biblical also being anti-catholic. But they end up being anti-biblical as well because they don't interpret it correct which is why they completely ignore the Book of James and didn't even realize that verse was there.

@@CatholicTruthOfficial James talks of a saving faith that RESULTS in righteous works and NOT a faith that originates from or is based in religious works of unrighteousness ( idolatry, indulgences, praying to the dead, etc.). Tell me whom James is primarily addressing his epistle to?
@CatholicTruthOfficial
@CatholicTruthOfficial 4 месяца назад
No, that's not what James says. James says faith without works is dead and doesn't save you. He also says we are not justified by faith alone. He's pretty clear in what he says. Protestants just have to do mental gymnastics around those verses to hold on to what they believe.

As well as every other verse(s) in which Paul clearly speaks of the way of salvation. God does NOT contradict Himself! It is curious that you ignore and/ or trample on all these other verses that your apostate system doesn’t like just like they did at Trent!
@tomsaltsman

Underlying almost all of Paul's epistles is the great work that Christ revealed in John 6:29: believe in those people sent by heaven. "Apostle" is Greek for 'sent.' If you don't believe in them, you don't believe in Christ. To be sent, one had to be prayed over and had others who had hands laid on them lay hands on you. This is crystal clear in Acts. It's called 'the Apostolic Succession and is one of the Seven Sacraments. No one can go off half-cocked with scriptures under their belt and start contradicting those whom God has sent.

The works we Catholics do are the Sacraments. They were all established by Christ, two of them specifically named as essential for salvation. We are creatures of both body and soul. That is why God always establishes rituals for us, and in this New and Everlasting Covenant, He has established rituals which are now salvific. The rituals of the Old Covenant could not save us. The rituals of the New Covenant now save us. Christ established the sacramental life for the sake of our salvation. These are the good works Paul speaks of in Eph. 2: 10 that we should walk in.
@catholictruthreplies
@catholictruthreplies 4 месяца назад
Hello Michael, thank you so much for your reply. I would not say that Sacraments are works, in the sense that we do them actively for our salvation and derive their efficacy from us performing them; rather, they are deeds that are efficacious regardless of our involvement (ex opere operato), and are our participation in Christ's love, through which we receive grace, and as you said there two essentials to salvation being baptism and Eucharist. The works that we should perform as mentioned in Ephesians are corporal acts of mercy, feeding the poor, clothing the least of these, and caring for the sick, as we see in the parable of the sheep and the goats.

Question for you. If you had to summarize the ministry of St. John the Baptist, would you not concluded that his entire ministry was based on five solas or principles (Scripture, Christ, Faith, Grace, God-alone)? According to John, he taught there is nothing else other than Christ that matters! Stop getting hung up on technicalities. I'm not protestant and I'm not suggesting protestantism is right. I'm merely responding from a Catholic perspective. You see, I don't feel threatened by what protestants think or say about Catholics. I live my faith and I walk with Christ every day, and I don't argue with non-catholics over who's right. Catholics have a lot to answer for too, especially with the ensuing reforms that Francis is planning. The pope is not infallible, and we should be discerning the times!
@CatholicTruthOfficial
@CatholicTruthOfficial 4 месяца назад
The pope is infallible. Every Pope is infallible. You are speaking Protestant arguments and not Catholic ones. And if you actually watched the video, then you would have heard us say we could agree with all five of these if they're properly understood. As for John the baptist, he never would have accepted the scripture alone. So he would not have accepted all five.
@Betrue875
@Betrue875 4 месяца назад
@@CatholicTruthOfficial I think I'm pretty correct, the pope is not infallible. He can not make up his own doctrines. It has to come from the authority of the Scruptures and the Magisterium. He is infallible only when his teachings are reinforced by Scripture, because Scripture is Truth. This is the reason Francis has come under fire from so many Canon Lawyer bishops and theologians. He has been teaching heresy on many occasions. I'm not judging, I'm only saying what is out there for everyone to read and hear.
