Reference means nothing. If in past job your manager hated because of racism or just because... even you best worker you will never get good references, or may you think in this job will do best, change again references is tells nothing. What you need validate is criminal record and not past job performance.
We mishire all the time and we know its a bad hire almost every time. Reason, there are no applicants available without issues.. Work has to get done, so we roll the dice and hope for the best. The other option is to not hire anyone.. I think thousands of other businesses are in the same boat with the employee shortage. With the incoming recession this will probably change as massive layoffs start happening.
We need 15 years experience and a masters for entry level Dev. We want candidates who have passion. When I was recruiting that was what I found. I coached most candidates to lie and taught them too. Management puts too much emphasis in anything but what's really relevant to the position mostly. If a job posting has any buzzwords. Like, culture, values, buy in... then the company is friendship based and politics based not merit based. I coach very differently based on how jobs are described. Signs of toxic positivity mean lie. They are lying to you. Certainly if candidates already spout the coolaide then I know they are medium skill. A candidates know what they are worth. They don't really spend much time with the politics. Many companies can't attract A level talent cause of silly corporate culture.
Currently, I work as a concierge, and in the past few years, my supervisor has hired people in my position because they failed to screen candidates for the position and administer policy procedures.
Yes, bad hires ONLY concerned about pay will not hire. Also maybe the salary the boss wanted to pay was less than what the candidate he finds wants. If you are a good fit, jobs will increase rhe pay to get the best person
A candidates don't audition. They know their value. It shoes the company doesn't know how to screen. It is a red flag. I wouldn't send my marketable candidates to that.
4 hours of interviews are you for real? I'll be real honest. No one is going to want to take 4 days off to speak to 4 different people and do 4 different interviews. That's a load of Bureaucracy and honestly - no one wants to be interviewed that much for a position . You're very mistaken there and you should be ashamed for trying to tell ppl to do that.
no they have not. and even if they were, they still don't know how to do it. Everyone was taught to be good, kind, and considerate of others, but we all know how that worked out...
