That is such a beautiful sound. People were telling me that a low F extension would sound bad and be a terrible option, and I was just baffled at their simple though process. This is amazing. Fantastic work here, truly sublime.
I love that sound. I'm still looking for a good 5-String violin. A 5-String cello and 5-String violin Duet would be pretty awesome. Think what Ravel and Debussy could have done with that combination. Great playing. Love the Porgy and Bess.
@@CarmeliousКупите контрабас 1/8, будет у вас "большая виолончель" и настраивайте её на 2 октавы ниже скрипки E3A2D2G1 насладитесь очень красивым звуком👍
You could even use a Hipshot tuner to extend the low F down to E (or lower). Thank you for doing this, I had been wondering (for a fictional story with a string quartet in it) whether a cello would still sound decent down there. It does. The lack of power isn't a huge problem when it only has to compete with a viola and a pair of violins, so I'm declaring this one PLAUSIBLE. And for your jazz pizzicato at the end, you'd have to amplify to be heard behind a big band anyhow, at which point a little EQ could be applied. I think someone would have to use their _eyes_ to know it wasn't a bass then.
Лучше сделайте "виолончель" из контрабаса 1/8, строй E3A2D2G1 (на 2 октавы ниже скрипки). Данный инструмент будет большой виолончелью с акустически наполненным звуком
Rocco Tarli Frankly in terms of era downtuning by half step is technically baroque tuning, and with a standard cello you might as well call it Open B like on a guitar.
Neon Sky I don’t think tuning would be much of a pain although an F string would be way more tensive than an A string. Even getting it to a half step below tuning would be ideal, given the opportunity to work with a low E.
I'm just looking to play songs in B, Bb, and A without just hitting another guitar note. Only pizz. for the bottom string, it's gypsy jazz. Could still take arco solos without the A string, just not in thirds with the violin.
Купите контрабас 1/8 ,это лучший вариант для получения "большой виолончели" и настраивайте его на 2 октавы ниже скрипки E3, A2, D2, G1. Насладитесь очень красивым звуком👍
Does the low F buzz against the fingerboard? Or does the fingerboard have a bevel at the F string (instead of a steady radius)? Or is the scale length maybe a bit longer? And how would you describe the sound of the low F in person, can the cello body cover these lows? Sorry for the many questions. I don't see many instruments like this around - especially not played like this! Wow, kudos.
Thanks for your coment! ・About the instrument This cello was originaly a High E 5string cello. And I just replaced the string to a Low F set. I hav'nt done any modify but it seems to be fine!(There's no buzz unless you strike the string too hard) ・About the F string sound Of course the body is smaller than a double bass so it can't cover all the low ends in a band but it sounds just like a double bass!
His elbow isn’t raised high enough, see. Raised elbow = more leverage and independence of the arm instead of leaning all the weight on the instrument itself.
You classical people are so full of dogma's. The guy plays well enough. He is a great musician and plays many styles well. Let him make his vibrato how he chooses to and choose a position that is comfortable for him.
